[NYPOST] A former tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was arrested for trashing his Georgia restaurant and making it appear he was the victim of a hate crime, authorities said.
Edawn Louis Coughman, 31, was charged Wednesday with criminal masterminding the Jussie Smollett ...Cable TV actor whose primary talents seemed to be being black and being homosexual. In a bid for national attention, he paid a pair of Nigerian brothers to rough him up a little so he could claim that two large, white, MAGA hat-wearing men had shouted This is MAGA country! while thumping him at 2:30am on a bitter cold night in Chicago and throwing bleach on him, presumably to lighten him up. The story quickly unraveled, and he became a laughingstock and the poster boy for pretend victimization and attention whoredom... -reminiscent crime at his Lawrenceville business so he could collect from his insurance company and still sell the undamaged appliances he’d claimed were stolen.
Coughman used a yellow crowbar to make it look like a break-in and black spray paint to write "racially-motivated words, swastikas, and ’MAGA’ " on the property, the Gwinnett County Police Department said in a blurb.
Smollett, of "Empire" fame, was accused of pretending he’d been jumped in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... by thugs hollering, "This is MAGA country!"
Police recovered the crowbar, spray paint and appliances from the bed of Coughman’s pickup truck.
Coughman was charged with false report of a crime, insurance fraud and concealing a license plate.

Doesn't sound like the poh-leese will need to over-investigate (like they did in Chicago).

[NYPOST] A pervy Long Island judge is expected to become a registered sex offender after admitting breaking into a neighbor’s home to steal her dirty panties.
Robert Cicale, 50, had several pairs of worn women’s underwear stuffed into his coat when he was busted fleeing a 23-year-old neighbor’s home in March 2018, prosecutors told Suffolk County District Court on Friday.
The judge ‐ who was suspended from the same court in Suffolk County after his arrest ‐ was initially charged with second-degree burglary.
But he admitted to entering the 23-year-old’s home several times to snatch undies from her hamper and pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of attempted burglary, still a felony, with a Nassau County District Court judge hearing the case, according to Newsday.
Cicale, of East Islip, is expected to get five years of probation and be forced to register as a sex offender when he is sentenced on Nov. 15.
Cicale’s attorney, Michael J. Brown, told Newsday that the former judge had "claimed the credit for his actions."
"He has dealt with his mental illness issues in a proactive manner and is a better person for doing so," Brown said.
District Attorney Timothy Sini insisted in a statement that the proceedings held him "accountable" and "serves justice."
"He violated the law, the public’s trust and the victims’ sense of security," Sini said.
His neighbor was a 23-year-old former intern at the Islip Town attorney’s office, where he used to work, Newsday said. It wasn’t clear whether she had worked directly for him at the time.

At Momus that night, such a catch:
She stretched from her ladder... a match!
"What a throw! Let me think...
Since they're frilly and pink,
I shall use them to cover my drink."
[DAWN] Hong Kong riot police fired tear gas and water cannon at hardcore pro-democracy protesters hurling rocks and petrol bombs on Sunday, tipping the violence-plagued city back into chaos after a brief lull in festivities.
Tens of thousands of people defied authorities to march through the city in an unsanctioned rally on Sunday, the latest expression of a popular revolt that has raged for the last 99 days.
The rally descended into violence when small groups of hardcore activists ‐ known within the movement as "braves" ‐ attacked the city's main government complex.
Police fired repeated volleys of tear gas and deployed water cannon trucks after Molotov cocktails and rocks were thrown over security barriers surrounding the complex, which has become a frequent flashpoint in the ongoing protests.
Local television networks broadcast footage of protesters tearing down and burning a huge banner celebrating the upcoming 70th anniversary of the founding of communist China -- as well as torching a Chinese flag.

Huh. Amusing.
O Hauptamt of Heimat Security,
Thou hotbed of grace and demurity,
The place where the finer
Folk keep us in line,
Er, woke: Help me to etch your maturity!

the situation was “immediately referred” to the Office of the Inspector General and “is currently being investigated to ensure that swift and corrective action is taken.”

Interesting how little info on the crime is in the report.
Was it on a piece of paper pinned to a bulletin board or drawn on the bathroom wall? Did there appear to be a target or was it found in or near the trash? Was it part of a case someone in the department is working on and simply fell out of a folder? Different details lead to different possible answers.

Sources inside the department confide that investigators have discovered an unprecedented, "possibly infinite," number of crosshairs, swastikas, and "several other symbols." The emblems are reportedly so cleverly encoded as to be almost invisible to a casual observer. One official praised the employee who first noticed the offensive patterns: "These things had been there for a while, maybe even since the construction of the building, and might have gone unnoticed indefinitely if this very alert HR person, apparently a crossword afficionado, hadn't been unusually constipated."
[IsraelNationalNews] A fire that destroyed a historic synagogue in northeastern Minnesota last week does not appear to have been a hate crime, authorities said Sunday, according to The Associated Press. "Some people did something"
Matthew James Amiot, 36, of Duluth, was arrested Friday in the fire last week at the Adas Israel Congregation in downtown Duluth.
The city’s police chief, Mike Tusken, said at a news conference on Sunday that he has no reason to believe the fire was a hate crime, although the investigation is ongoing.
Police are recommending that prosecutors charge Amiot, who has no permanent address, with first-degree arson. A criminal complaint is expected to be filed mid-week, he said.

Once again, the proximate cause us copycattism.
We really need to stop publicizing these events, or at least publicizing details about the perpetrators of such crimes. Treat them the way we treat suicides: deny 'glory' or fame to the perp, and watch as copycat behavior declines sharply.
