The State Department confirms all visa holders will face 'continuous vetting' to identify potential violations that could lead to deportation, including overstaying visas, criminal actions, or terrorist-related activities. Social media accounts will get scrutinized as well as target countries' immigration records.
The unprecedented sweep comes just days after Trump slashed access to student visas and follows a 20% staff reduction at the State Department, making the operation logistically daunting without AI technology.

She fears visas will be wrongly revoked based on faulty data or political opinions Trump opposes, pointing to spring student visa cases where 'people who had any interaction with law enforcement, not arrests, had their visas revoked.'
Recent examples prove the system's flaws. In April, Japanese BYU student Suguru Onda had his visa mistakenly terminated - likely by an AI software error - over a fishing citation and speeding tickets, despite an otherwise spotless record.
His attorney told NBC officials aren't thoroughly checking AI-flagged cases, and Onda's situation isn't isolated.
Since Trump took office in January, the State Department says that roughly 6,000 student visas have been revoked to date— about 4,000 of which were taken from international students who violated the law.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, there were almost 13 million green-card holders and almost 4 million people in the U.S. who were on temporary visas last year.

Several dozen Jewish activists on Thursday gathered outside the office of a leading teachers union in New York City to protest against alleged antisemitism and inaction by the United Federation of Teachers.
The activists accused the UFT of a “pattern of silence and inaction that has eroded trust with Jewish teachers, students, and parents,” such as endorsing New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a harsh critic of Israel, despite opposition to the move by Zionist Jews.

It would not be difficult for Abu Dhabi to knock the Israeli creature out of the race, at least temporarily. Especially considering that Ramallah's modern secret services were essentially raised with the participation of advisers from the Gulf.
A much more advantageous match for the Emirates is Mohammed Dahlan (also known as Abu Fadi ), a former influential security official and politician, close to the founder of the PLO, Yasser Arafat. Might, yes. May? A different question best addressed to the Israeli government.
And judging by the fact that in recent weeks more and more materials have appeared in the Arab segment of social networks where Dahlan is presented as a hero, the Emirates have already begun to implement this scenario.
On the other hand, the current Palestinian administration, which is striving to return to Gaza at any cost, could have decided on a confrontation itself. Including because it considers the enclave to be part of the territories of a future independent state. And therefore does not intend to "scatter lands". True, the question remains open as to whom exactly Qatar will oppose the arrested Khalil and the non-public Dahlan. Finding a worthy figure within the PNA who is capable of gaining street support is becoming increasingly difficult (given the falling ratings of Abbas and his entourage). And there is no time left to cultivate one's own creature from scratch.
[NAHARNET] Lebanon has granted a license to Elon Musk's Starlink to provide satellite internet services in the crisis-hit country known for its crumbling infrastructure.
The announcement was made late Thursday by Information Minister Paul Morcos who said Starlink will provide internet services throughout Lebanon via satellites operated by Musk's SpaceX.
The announcement came nearly three months after Musk spoke with President Joseph Aoun by telephone and told him about his interest in working in the country's telecommunications and internet sectors.
During the same Cabinet meeting, the government named regulatory authorities for the country's electricity and telecommunications sectors.
Naming a regulatory authority for Lebanon's corruption-plagued electricity sector has been a key demand by international organizations.

[NAHARNET] The Lebanese Army was on Saturday handed over five truckloads of weapons from the Ain al-Hilweh camp and another three from the al-Beddawi camp as part of an ongoing disarmament process.
So far only the Fatah Movement has handed over weapons from several camps in Beirut and its suburbs and the southern region of Tyre.

The implementation of the deal -- part of Lebanese authorities' decision to disarm all non-state groups -- began in August as Abbas' Fatah movement surrendered its weapons in south Beirut's Burj al-Barajneh camp.
By longstanding convention, the Lebanese Army stays out of the Paleostinian camps -- where Fatah, Hamas and other gangs are present -- and leaves the factions to handle security.
