[JTN] Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., led a coalition of nearly 60 Democrats in condemning recent reports of "Black people found hanging from trees in numerous states throughout our country."
"The series of deaths raise significant suspicion of foul play given the role of lynching in our nation’s history," the Democrats wrote in their letter sent to the Department of Justice on Tuesday.
Pressley and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who also signed the letter, wrote about the campaign in posts on X, but readers of the post have proposed notes that point out that most of the high-profile cases cited in the letter have been ruled suicides.
They include a case in Mississippi in which a Black student was found hanging from a tree, and an autopsy by the office of Mississippi’s state medical examiner concluded the student committed suicide, the Associated Press reported. Investigators in another case in Fair Oaks Park, Georgia, also found no evidence of foul play, ruling the death a suicide, Fox5 reported.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who also owns the X social media platform, asked Grok AI about the cases, which responded that most of the cases were ruled suicides. One is being investigated as a homicide, and the person of interest in the case is black, who hasn't been charged, People reported. Another case remains under investigation, but none of the cases have identified a non-Black suspect or racially-motivated attack.

It's an actual case because they did things wrong. If you decided to break the law or lie on ... the information you gave to the United States, to be able to come into the United States, through either asylum or because you were just wanting to seek a better life, but you didn't tell us who you actually were, you lied about certain things, about your application."

Back in December, Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed that DHS was investigating Ilhan Omar, and claims that she committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother. It was part of a larger, extensive review of visa fraud within Minnesota's Somali community. DHS claims that as many as 50 percent of visas in Minnesota are fraudulent.

Hunter Biden publicly crashed out over the spectacular collapse of his meme coin, ranting online about the “f–k up” that crushed four out of five investors but left one mystery trader nearly $1 million richer — a windfall the troubled former first son ignored.
Biden claimed the trouble began right after trading started Wednesday because the project’s market maker supplied far less liquidity than needed to handle the initial demand.
“There was a f–k up. The f–k-up occurred in the first 30 seconds of launching the coin, in which the market maker, for some unknown goddamn reason, only put in $5,000 of liquidity,” Biden said in the video posted on X just after midnight Friday. “And the demand was through the roof.”
In his telling, the thin pool is what sent $LAPTOP from $2.39 to an eye-popping $316 per token for 1 billion tokens — before its precipitous crash.
He incredulously noted his coin’s value was briefly “larger than the market cap of f–kin’ goddamn Blackrock,” noting the price chart “looked like Mount Everest.”
A mystery trader turned a roughly $250,000 bet into $1.18 million within minutes, earning a cool $930,000 before transaction costs, according to a blockchain analysis by Datavault AI. That’s a classic sign of a crypto “rug pull,” an expert previously told The Post.
Regular traders were left in the lurch. About 80% of those who bought $LAPTOP on launch day lost money, according to blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps, which estimated more than 15,000 wallets ended up in the red.
Datavault AI identified one particularly brutal trade: a buyer who put roughly $200,000 into $LAPTOP near its fleeting peak was left with a position worth around $2,000 after the collapse.
Biden didn’t address either the profit or the pain his investors felt this week.
“This is my f–king token,” he said during his online tirade. “I’ve been working on this thing for six months straight.”
“I was intimately involved in every single discussion, every single step of the way in creating the tokenomics, in creating the way in which the coin would be presented,” he added.
“At the end of the day, it’s my responsibility, and there was a f–k-up.”
Biden claimed $LAPTOP has moved on, saying, “They got it under control, but not before the damage was done.”

[Just The News] A $4 million Seattle program is continuing to help illegal immigrants as the Trump administration ramps up its crackdown on those in the U.S. without authorization, said Oksana Bilobran, interim director of Seattle's Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs.
Bilobran told the City Council’s Libraries, Education and Neighborhoods Committee Wednesday that immigration arrests had reached an all-time high of close to 50 a month in July and August.
Statistics presented to the committee show the number was around 30 a day earlier in the year.
In total, she said, there were 477 arrests between January and June.
"And this has a huge impact on our community, as these people are not only our neighbors; they are business owners, the children go to our schools," she said. "They are workers, they work for Seattle employees, and so this has a huge impact not only on those people, but everyone around them and the city as a whole."
The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs has a budget of around $10 million, including the $4 million approved last year by former Mayor Bruce Harrell to help migrants affected by ICE enforcement actions.
She said the biggest chunk of money, around $2.4 million, goes to legal defense for immigrants detained by ICE.
Other programs administered by partner agencies include English classes for immigrants, programs that educate migrants on their legal rights and initiatives that provide aid for those arrested, including providing money to retrieve their towed cars.
She said more than a dozen community agencies are receiving money from the city.
Bilobran said the arrests are occurring throughout Seattle.
Seattle is one of a number of liberal cities that help immigrants subject to enforcement action by federal immigration agents, an action that conservative groups say is overreach.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials did not respond to requests for comment from the Center Square, but are critical of interventions by cities like Seattle.
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has insisted that the city welcomes all groups of people and that helping immigrants targeted by ICE is the right thing to do. She highlighted the funding in the spring.
Bilobran said the upticks in arrests started occurring in the spring.
"We see them on highways and city streets, in parking lots and local businesses," she said.
Bilobran said a substantial number of those arrested involve individuals without criminal convictions or criminal records.
