Operation Hadin Kai intensifies campaign against ISWAP, Boko Haram, records major gains in August

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have intensified their campaign against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists across the North-East, recording significant operational gains during sustained ground and air operations in August 2026.
The offensive operations resulted in the neutralisation of 152 terrorists, arrest of 142 suspects and surrender of 219 terrorists during the month, highlighting the increasing pressure being brought to bear on terrorist networks operating across the theatre.
The operations also disrupted terrorist movements and logistics through a combination of ground offensives, intelligence-led actions and air interdictions.
According to operational data obtained by Zagazola Makama, troops conducted 10 air interdictions during the period and successfully neutralised nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs), denying terrorists the opportunity to use the explosive devices against troops and civilians.
The destruction of the IEDs also helped to secure major routes and movement corridors frequently used by security forces and local communities.
The sustained offensive also yielded significant recoveries of weapons, ammunition and other items linked to terrorist operations. Troops recovered 58 weapons and explosive items, including AK-47 and AK-49 rifles, locally fabricated firearms, a hand grenade and an RPG bomb. A total of 1,184 rounds of ammunition were also recovered during the operations. Other items recovered included 16 mobility assets, 44 mobile phones, a Sony video camcorder and N1,794,910 in cash.
The recoveries are expected to further support ongoing intelligence efforts aimed at tracking terrorist logistics networks, identifying their collaborators and disrupting their ability to sustain attacks across the region.
The August operational figures reflect the multi-dimensional approach adopted by Operation Hadin Kai, combining offensive ground operations, air interdictions, intelligence gathering and community-supported security activities.
The surrender of 219 terrorists during the month also represents an important dimension of the campaign, as it reduces the manpower available to terrorist organisations while providing security agencies with opportunities to obtain valuable information on terrorist structures, movements and logistics.

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have sustained intelligence-driven operations across their Joint Operations Area, leading to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and the rescue of an abducted victim in separate operations in Nasarawa and Benue states.
In Nasarawa State, troops of Sector 2, OPWS, on Sept. 4, arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Adamu Lamu at Agyaragu.
The arrest followed the escape of one of the alleged kidnapping syndicate’s victims, identified as 31-year-old Nehemiah Elisha.
According to preliminary information, Elisha, after escaping from his abductors, sighted one of the suspected kidnappers at a market in Agyaragu and alerted troops deployed in the area.
The troops swiftly responded and apprehended Lamu, who was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and legal action.

But the fighting is far from over. Both sides are repositioning, reinforcing contested sectors, and continuing artillery, drone, and missile operations.
Three senior commanders from Yemen's anti-Houthi forces remain at the center of the current operations. They are Lt. Gen. @tarikyemen, commander of the National Resistance Forces, Maj. Gen. Abdulrahman al-Lahji, commander of the National Shield Forces, and Maj. Gen. Hamdi Shukri, commander of the 4th Military Region.
A video message from Maj. Gen. Shukri has circulated widely on Yemeni social media. Shukri said his forces would continue the battle "until Yemen is cleansed of Iranian influence." He also claimed that Houthi forces were in a state of collapse and that government-aligned forces had achieved major battlefield successes. His comments reflect his assessment of the fighting and should not be treated as independent confirmation of a wider Houthi collapse.
The rural western Ta'izz front is quieter for now as both sides reorganize and bring in reinforcements following the recent fighting. Artillery fire, drone activity, and localized clashes nevertheless continue across several sectors.
In western Ta'izz, National Resistance forces reported heavy clashes with Houthi forces in the Al-Kadhah sector. Pro-government media also reported artillery strikes against Houthi positions and troop concentrations around Al-Barh, Saqm, and other parts of the western coastal front.
Local sources reported Houthi artillery fire on villages around Ash-Shurajah in Jabal Habashi District, with the main road reportedly cut and the movement of displaced civilians disrupted. Another report said a woman and one of her relatives were killed when a bus carrying displaced civilians was struck in Jabal Habashi.
The fighting has also extended toward Al-Ashruh in Jabal Habashi, as Houthi forces shelled the outskirts of Al-Ashruh in western Ta'izz with artillery.
Farther south along the Red Sea coast, Houthi mortar fire against Al-Haymah village in southern Hudaydah, with several displaced civilians reportedly wounded. In Mawza District, western Ta'izz, a child was killed by a missile strike on Al-Murakh village.

Days-long festivities have erupted in Yemen over control of a gateway to the Red Sea in the deadliest fighting in the Arabian Peninsula country since a 2022 ceasefire between the two sides collapsed in July.

The small boat, carrying 20 men and six women, reached Cala Santanyí in Mallorca, Spain, at around 1.55pm on Friday.
The beach was packed with sunseekers when lifeguards spotted the migrants and rushed to assist them.
The first mistake.
After reaching the shore, some jumped into the water, while others scrambled over the rocky promontory. The lifeguards helped those who had fallen into the water and were struggling to swim to safety.
Shortly afterwards, two Guardia Civil patrols arrived at the scene to take charge of the situation, as reported by local media outlets.
All 26 migrants appeared to be in good condition, with no serious injuries reported.
The boat was one of four intercepted or rescued in Mallorca and Formentera within just a few hours, bringing the total number of migrants who arrived on Friday to 75. Two of the boats were carrying migrants of North African origin, while the other two were carrying migrants of sub-Saharan origin.
In the previous 24 hours, around 100 migrants had arrived irregularly on Mallorca's shores, according to the Mallorca Island Council. And on Saturday, five small boats carrying a total of 72 migrants reached Mallorca, Cabrera and Formentera.

It comes as the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa is facing a mass migration crisis after 70,000 migrants stormed its beaches in late July. Although most of those who entered Ceuta have now returned to Morocco, between 3,500 and 7,000 remain, with many living in shanty towns on the beach.

And a video emerged this week of migrants capturing a young dolphin swimming in shallow waters, hitting it with a stick to the horror of onlookers. The video shared online shows a group of men crowding round the dolphin calf as it is held in the air 'like a trophy' and lifted above their heads as onlookers cheer – before enraged locals confront them. One of the Spaniards shouts 'No! No! No!', warning the migrants that it is illegal to touch or eat the dolphin.
At least five members of the Guardia Civil have been injured since the 'invasion', according to Guillermo Jose Lorenzo, a spokesman for the local police trade union.
'There are assaults when you go to identify people involved in a fight,' he told the Daily Mail. 'They turn on the officers. In some of these incidents, there have been injuries.'
He said that over time the prevailing mood has become darker.
'In the first few days there weren't so many clashes; they weren't so burned out. They were euphoric about staying, about entering, and about staying. But now there is more trouble.

The attack came only hours after local media reported that police were investigating suspicious bulk purchases of chemicals and aluminium foil by illegal migrants colonists accompanied by NGO activists.
The attack occurred as hundreds marched through Villajovita towards central Ceuta. Local newspaper El Faro de Ceuta reported that bottles containing aguarrás, a solvent commonly used as paint thinner, were thrown directly at demonstrators. Earlier on Friday, Telemadrid reported that the National Police were investigating an unusually large purchase of aguafuerte—hydrochloric acid—and aluminium foil at a Ceuta supermarket by a large group of migrants colonists accompanied by NGO activists. La Gaceta, citing police sources, identified the NGO as No Name Kitchen (NNK) and said Sherlocks were examining whether the materials were intended for homemade devices and whether activists had assisted with their storage. JUPOL, Spain’s largest police union, said a bottle containing flammable liquid had been thrown at Spanish soldiers a day earlier, describing it as a Molotov cocktail. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said they had encouraged ’violent mostly peaceful groups’—illegal migrants colonists—to respond aggressively to police and had resisted officers; NNK disputes that account and says the pair were recording the conduct of the officers. Other allegations that NNK volunteers had distributed pepper spray to migrants colonists for use against soldiers and residents have similarly been denied by the organization.
Locals had already taken a hostile stance towards NGOs, with hundreds blocking a Red Thingy convoy delivering food to illegal migrants colonists at El Trampolín. Protesters argued that continued aid would encourage them to remain.
Friday marked the fourth consecutive day of violent mostly peaceful confrontations between protesting locals and migrants colonists, with tensions visibly pushing towards the threshold of even more serious festivities. A month after the mass invasion, the Pedro Sánchez government still had not managed to regain control over the Spanish territory and remained largely unable to protect its own citizens.

[NYP] Prosecutors in the eastern German state of Saxony said on Monday that authorities had found a total of 21 explosive devices as part of their investigations into attacks on the electricity grid that have kept authorities on high alert for days.
Investigators discovered nine additional homemade explosive devices over the weekend near high-voltage power lines south of the Graustein substation in the eastern German district of Goerlitz, taking the total number discovered to 21, police and prosecutors said in a joint statement.

"Own troops effectively engaged this group of khawarij. As a result of precise and skillful engagement, seven khawarij were neutralised," the ISPR statement said.

Despite recent diplomatic developments suggesting a renewed push to ease tensions between Pakistain and Afghanistan, the Foreign Office on Wednesday remained firm that meaningful progress in relations would depend on the Taliban taking concrete and verifiable action against TTP and other terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

Separately, the IDF said Monday morning that it had struck Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip overnight in response to an bomb that hit a military vehicle a day earlier.
The bomb planted by Hamas that struck an engineering vehicle operating on the Israeli side of the "Yellow Line" in the Strip’s north on Sunday caused no injuries, according to the military. The IDF said the incident was a "blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Hamas terror organization."
In response, several Hamas infrastructure sites used by the terror group to advance attacks were struck overnight, the military added.
US special envoy Jared Kushner said on Sunday that next month’s Knesset election has made Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government act "a little irrational" when it comes to Gaza, amid Israel’s rejection of the Board of Peace’s proposal to disarm Hamas and ongoing strikes on the enclave.
"I think we agree with the Israelis on the end state for Gaza," Kushner said at a press appearance during a visit to Kyiv, where he was taking part in negotiations over the war in Ukraine.
