Maduro and Cilia Flores have both pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." to federal drug trafficking and firearms charges. A hearing on their dismissal arguments is scheduled in New York for November 7, while their trial is set for June 2027.

[ShabelleMedia] Somalia’s federal government has denied involvement in an attack on a house in the Gedo region town of Dollow where former Somali prison service commander General Mahad Abdirahman Adan, also known as General Mahad Shub, was staying.
The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism said in a statement that the government was closely monitoring the incident and had no role in the attack.
Preliminary information from security agencies indicated that explosives had been deployed by aircraft to strike the residence, the ministry said, without identifying those responsible or providing further details about the operation.
"The government categorically confirms that it had no involvement in the incident," the statement said.
The government said the incident required a thorough investigation and that security agencies were working to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
It urged the public and media not to circulate unverified reports, saying the findings of the investigation would be made public once it was completed.
The statement also described Dollow as strategically important to security and movement in the Gedo region, and said the government was prioritising stability and civilian safety in the district.
The government’s denial comes after Jubaland authorities strongly condemned the attack and accused Ottoman Turkish aircraft of carrying out the strike on General Mahad Shub’s residence.
The federal government, however, reiterated that it had no involvement and said an official investigation was still underway.

Qaradawi, an Egyptian opposition activist and poet, was extradited in January 2025 and sentenced last week. The Moslem Brüderbund is designated as a terrorist organization in both Egypt and the UAE.
"A pardon was issued today... by His Highness the President... for Abdul Rahman Yusuf al-Qaradawi," the United Arab Emirates’ official WAM news agency said in a statement.
The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal had sentenced Qaradawi to 10 years in prison and a fine. He was facing charges of "activities that aim to stir and undermine public security," WAM said when he arrived in the UAE.
Qaradawi, the son of Yusuf al-Qaradawi ...Egyptian Islamic theologian and teevee preacher, well-known for IslamOnline, a website he helped found in 1997 and for which he now serves as chief religious scholar. Al-Qaradawi has also published more than 80 books, including Islam: The Future Civilization. He is considered one of the most influential Moslem Brotherhood scholars living today. Al-Qaradawi is banned from entering the United States, Israel and Great Britain. In 2004, 2,500 Moslem academics from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Paleostine accused him of giving Islam a bad name.... , was arrested in Lebanon in late 2024 after crossing from Syria. The arrest was linked to an Egyptian ruling sentencing him to five years’ jail on charges of "opposing the state and inciting terrorism," Lebanese authorities said at the time.
Egypt and the UAE both requested his extradition from Lebanon, according to a Lebanese judicial official.
The monarchical UAE is a staunch opponent of the pan-Arab Moslem Brüderbund and its political Islam, which gained in influence after the 2011 Arab Spring pro-democracy protests.

The Foreign Ministry also responded to Miliband and denied that Israel was preventing Paleostinians from accessing medical treatment.
Miliband, in the video published on Friday, says he attended a meeting on the "horrific" healthcare situation in the Gaza Strip, where he said he was told about "medicines being blocked" from entering, and of "children dying while waiting for vital life-saving treatment."
Huckabee, in response to Miliband’s video, said, "the Brits have lost it."

The Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, denied that Israel was blocking medicine from entering Gaza or that it was preventing Paleostinians from seeking medical treatment abroad, and insisted that Miliband was "well aware of all this."
"If the Foreign Secretary were interested in facts rather than stories, he would know that there are no restrictions whatsoever on the entry of medicines into the Gaza Strip, and that no medicines are being blocked," wrote the Foreign Ministry on X.
It added that "22,500 tons of medical supplies have entered Gaza since the ceasefire began" in October 2025, and that in the past two weeks alone, 200 Paleostinians have exited the enclave for medical treatment.
"The UK is a member of the International Gaza Support Center, which facilitates the delivery of medical aid to the Gaza Strip," the Foreign Ministry added, referring to the US-led coordination center in Kiryat Gat.
Miliband was appointed foreign secretary in mid-July by Prime Minister Andy Burnham and has since called for a "comprehensive reset" of British policy toward Israel. Miliband is the son of Jewish refugees.
The clash comes as relations between Israel and the United Kingdom have deteriorated further over Jerusalem’s controversial E1 settlement project, which would impede territorial contiguity between major Paleostinian population centers.
Israel is reportedly considering expelling British representatives from the Gaza coordination center amid growing tensions between London and Jerusalem over E1.
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar warned that Israel "will act against" Britannia if it follows through on threatened measures against settlements, saying Jerusalem has "tools" at its disposal.
British media have reported that Burnham’s government is considering a complete ban on trade in goods from Israeli West Bank settlements as part of its response to E1.
The UK already sanctions and bars entry to National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
The Kiryat Gat center has itself become part of the dispute. Britannia said last month that removing its representatives from the US-led International Gaza Support Center would "undermine" efforts to improve conditions in Gaza.
London said it maintains a presence there at the request of the United States and the US-backed Board of Peace and works alongside Israel, international partners and UN agencies to support implementation of the American postwar plan for Gaza. A source familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel that Israel was weighing expelling the British officials and considering "other measures" against London.
The threat against the British delegation followed a similar step against the Netherlands. Sa’ar announced in late August that Dutch representatives would be removed from the center after what he described as a series of "anti-Israel measures" by The Hague.
The planned E1 expansion would connect the Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim areas, effectively scuttling the prospect of contiguous Paleostinian illusory sovereignty between the population centers of Bethlehem, East Jerusalem and Ramallah — long considered the basis of a future Paleostinian state.
The project was frozen for years amid fierce opposition from the international community, including past US administrations, which feared that building a new settlement neighborhood on the mostly empty tract of land would rule out the establishment of a Paleostinian state.
Supporters of the E1 settlement expansion say they want to block Paleostinian statehood. Last month, the government opened bidding for the construction of seven residential compounds with 1,234 housing units in the E1 area, after greenlighting construction of roughly 3,400 units last August.
Miliband called the plan "unacceptable and destructive" in a written statement last month, and said his office was working to prepare a "comprehensive set of measures" in response, including sanctions against "those who participate in illegal settlement expansion."
Sa’ar hit back at Miliband, calling his statement "patronizing," and accused the British government of contributing "to a massive wave of antisemitic hatred and attacks against the British Jewish community" and harming the UK-Israeli relationship.

Police said dozens of homes had been damaged by the blast and that emergency workers were searching the rubble.

Nearly 1,100 were on the list of Iraqi citizens' files, and 1,000 were on the list of Balkan countries' files," a spokesperson for the Ministry for Migration and Refugees of North Rhine-Westphalia told Rudaw’s Kehy Mahmoud, noting that "overall, these 12,000 crimes were committed by these 2,100 individuals."
The figures stem from a review by North Rhine-Westphalia's State Criminal Police Office of around 6,800 people from Iraq and the Western Balkans who were required to leave Germany. German media reported this week that around 2,100 of them had appeared in police investigative records linked to approximately 12,000 cases.
It remains unclear how many of the investigations resulted in criminal charges or convictions.
The review comes amid intense debate in Germany over migration, deportations and crime involving migrants colonists, following a decade of large-scale migration from the Middle East and elsewhere.
The state's criminal investigation agency had previously stated that these offenses "range from theft to drug crimes, sexual assault, and bodily harm." The 6,800 people were included on lists compiled by immigration authorities in 2024 to facilitate deportations, but many of the removals were not carried out for various reasons.
The review followed controversy surrounding the so-called "Coesfeld list," which contained the names of hundreds of people from Western Balkan countries who were required to leave Germany.

Cologne later acknowledged communication failures in its handling of the offer.
The controversy intensified following a violent mostly peaceful clash between families in Cologne in early August. Initial media reports linked members of one of the families to the Coesfeld list, but German public broadcaster WDR later corrected its reporting, saying those involved in the clash were not on the list.
The latest figures come as German authorities continue to face challenges in processing asylum applications and establishing the identities and origins of some applicants who arrive without identification documents.

Questions were bound to follow. Why were the Dutch doing this? Were they anticipating some major economic shock on the horizon?
It seems not, but the move was clearly in response to the unstable and uncertain state the world finds itself in, with trade and military wars prompting countries to take precautions and hold their gold closer to home.
Earlier this year, France announced it had removed its gold reserves from the US to home shores. Meanwhile, Germany's Bundesbank transferred more than 216 tonnes of the metal from storage locations abroad - 111 tonnes from New York and 105 tonnes from Paris - over a few years ending in 2016.
It is a strategy which has played out before in times of global instability. "Some European central banks moved part of their gold holdings to New York during the Cold War," said research analysts Lina Thomas and Daan Struyven of Goldman Sachs.
Joseph Cavatoni, senior market strategist at the World Gold Council, told the BBC while wars and trade tensions were "playing into some of these decisions", it didn't "top the list" of motivating factors.
Inflation, interest rates and just having gold in a place where it can be traded quickly also played a role.
"I don't get a sense that there's an impending doom," Cavatoni said, "but what I do think is people are being better educated around how to manage their reserve assets, growing their reserve assets, and actually thinking more effectively around how to make the most of those assets."

[ColonelCassad] The US won't be able to replenish its missile arsenal until 2029-2030 at the earliest. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which, incidentally, is close to the Pentagon, refuted the false claims of Trump and Hegseth and warned of the danger of a significant reduction in the stockpiles of American interceptors and strategic weapons.
According to this report, the US Department of War will need three years, and in some cases even four years, to replenish the ammunition and weapons used in the war against Iran.
And this is assuming that high-intensity combat in the Middle East does not continue, when more than a hundred Patriot missiles can be fired per day.
And under a business-as-usual scenario, a significant portion of the US missile arsenal will not be replenished until 2029-2030, which will impact the US's ability to conduct prolonged, high-intensity combat. Of course, this is a temporary weakness, but it will play a significant role in the coming years. I wrote more about this topic here.
The polygraphs have returned to the Pentagon, after the Trump administration has been furious over what the president calls 'leaks' by US officials to the press, particularly regarding alleged diminished munitions stocks and missile shortages.

An anti-government activist is expected to be indicted on charges of incitement to terror in the coming days, Channel 13 reported Saturday, over social media posts allegedly inciting violence against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others.
Yolanda Yavor, a lecturer at Tel Aviv University, was arrested in November for Facebook posts that called, among other things, for the people to launch a "real rebellion" against the "traitor" Netanyahu.
She referenced, in her call for a "real" uprising, the Romanian revolution of 1989, which led to the execution of the Romanian Communist Party leader Nicolae Ceaușescu.
According to Channel 13, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Attorney Amit Aisman have decided that, pending a hearing, Yavor will stand trial on charges of incitement to terror.
The decision has sparked criticism, however, with an unnamed source close to Yavor telling Channel 13 that Netanyahu’s Likud party "exerted pressure" on Baharav-Miara and Aisman to put her on trial.
Yavor’s attorney, Oshrat Kirma, accused the legal officials of pushing the case through immediately following a request from Likud to expedite the process.
"There is no doubt that the motives here are political," she said in remarks carried by Channel 13.
Yavor, in the Facebook post that sparked her arrest, wrote: "The only choice is to be — that is, to fight the traitor, the mouthpieces, the damned collaborators and his bargain-bin Freikorps militias with all the strength and all means — or not to be."
"Make the right choice, my brothers and sisters," she said. "There won’t be another round."
"We said ’Democracy or rebellion,’ remember?" she added, referencing a popular chant at pro-democracy protests. "So rebellion it is. But a real one, like one imported from Romania, not AliExpress-meets-Kaplan."
She hashtagged "Dictators are not tossed at the ballot box," "Netanyahu is a traitor," and "We’re coming for you."
A lecturer in TAU’s Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Yavor was previously arrested for allegedly inciting against Netanyahu in September.

Iran is reportedly gearing up for a new Oct. 7-style attack on Israel as part of a multi-front assault alongside its terrorist proxies in the region, according to Israeli intelligence assessments.
The Islamic Republic is allegedly plotting to repeat Hamas’ barbaric Oct. 7 attacks — which saw more Jews killed in a single day than any time since the Holocaust — but this time with full coordination of their sprawling terrorist network, which includes Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Last time Hamas burst out early, because they just couldn’t wait. This time that is considerably less likely.
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officials have sought to revitalize its “Axis of Resistance” terrorist network and have held multiple planning meetings with leaders from Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iraqi militias about an escalation against Israel, the outlet reported.
The IRGC is also conducting joint training exercises with its terrorist proxies and is increasing drone and missile production to replenish their stockpiles that have been exhausted in its wars against Israel and the US ahead of the next campaign, the sources told the publication.

For its part, Israel in the past two days released five civilians captured in southern Lebanon, where it is at war with Hezbollah.
AFP takes a look at the Jewish community's importance in Lebanon and the kidnapping of some of its members.
- MIGRATION -
Jews have had a long-established presence in Lebanon and have played an important role in the country's economy, despite a lack of political representation.

"Lebanon was the only Arab country where the number of Jews increased after the Nakba of Paleostinians in 1948," Nada Abdelsamad, author of a book on the community, told AFP, referring to the mass displacement of Paleostinians during Israel's creation.
"Jewish immigration from Arab countries to Lebanon increased, especially from Syria, and also from Iraq."
Israel's creation caused a wave of hostility towards Jews in the Arab world.
Members of the sect in Lebanon left, "a minority of them to Israel while the majority went to other countries, including Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and the Americas, especially Latin America," Abdelsamad said.
Abdelsamad also mentioned Shula Cohen, an Israeli spy who played a major role in the emigration of Jews from Lebanon and Syria.
Arrested in 1961 for espionage, she was released six years later as part of a prisoner exchange with Israel.
- LOOTED SYNAGOGUE -
During the Lebanese civil war, fighting erupted in central Beirut, where the Jewish quarter known as Wadi Abu Jmil is located.
The main synagogue, Maghen Abraham, was looted during the conflict but restored afterwards.
Abdelsamad, who wrote "When the Jewish Balconies Went Dark in Wadi Abou Jamil", said Jews coexisted with other religious communities in this neighborhood.
Displaced by fighting, some sheltered in Moslem-majority western Beirut.
But Lebanese Jews left in droves, especially after the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
In the mid-1980s, groups linked to Hezbollah were kidnapping foreign nationals as well as Christian and Jewish Lebanese in west Beirut, which was under the chaotic rule of armed militias.
Eleven Jews were kidnapped, including Yitzhak Sasson, president of the Supreme Council of the Jewish Community in Lebanon, and Elie Hallak, its vice-president.
Their kidnappers, known as the Oppressed on Earth, demanded the release of Lebanese held by Israel.
They announced the execution of most of their hostages, but only four bodies were ever recovered.
- 'EXTENSIVE EFFORTS' -
Over the last two days, Israel returned five people to Lebanon it had seized amid its recent wars with Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the decision followed "extensive efforts" by Israel and Lebanon to locate and return the bodies of leaders of Lebanon's Jewish community kidnapped and killed in the 1980s during the country's 15-year civil war.
During the latest round of Lebanon-Israel talks in Rome last month, a source close to the negotiations said Israel gave Beirut a list of Jewish individuals to demand the return of their remains.
The Israeli army and government have for years worked to repatriate the bodies of soldiers killed in operations abroad.
In August the Israeli military said it recovered the remains of a soldier killed in eastern Lebanon in 1982.
According to Israeli media reports, the aim of the requests about Lebanese Jews is to identify the remains and bury them in Israel, allowing relatives and descendants the chance to visit their graves.
Documents, including maps and photographs of cemeteries, have even been handed over to Lebanese authorities, according to Israeli media.
The reports have emphasized the role of the United States, the sponsors of the talks, in fostering cooperation between the two sides on the issue.
