[WASHINGTONTIMES] Activists hoping to be let off with a slap on the wrist after being arrested for disrupting last weekend’s Straight Pride Parade have run into resistance from Boston judges.
Two Boston Municipal Court judges refused to throw out the charges against the 18 defendants who appeared Tuesday in court, frustrating defense attorneys and prosecutors who sought to have minor charges dismissed, as reported by local news outlets.
Judge Thomas Horgan also told out-of-towners that they risked 90-day jail sentences if they set foot in Boston for any reason other than court and lawyer appointments, rejecting one defendant’s request to visit relatives in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood.
"Stay out of Boston," said Judge Horgan, according to the Boston Herald.
Boston police arrested 36 people Saturday on charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assault and battery on a police officer after more than 1,000 counter-protesters, including bands of antifa activists, descended on the Straight Pride Parade, which drew an estimated 200 participants.
In a separate courtroom, Judge Richard Sinnott turned down motions by prosecutors to have low-level charges dismissed against defendants with no criminal record in exchange for community service.
The decision drew the ire of Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins, who accused him of punishing protesters for exercising their First Amendment rights.
"Make no mistake: some people were appropriately arraigned and will be held accountable for actions that put the safety of the public and law enforcement at risk," she said in a statement. "For those people now tangled in the criminal justice system for exercising their right to free speech ‐ many of whom had no prior criminal record ‐ I will use the legal process to remedy the judge’s overstepping of his role.

A judge working to maintain public order? How unusual in this day and age.
I do feel for the people who were arrested despite having no criminal history. My good friend, Crimin B. Hard, had the same thing happen to his own self. Before that string of bank robberies, he had the rap sheet of a choir boy. But the judge said bank robberies be bank robberies. Must have caught him on a judgmental day, I guess.

Not even close. However based upon that logic, you need to release all thieves for engaging in economic redistribution. Why should hiring some political hack make it any less than practicing socialist economic policies.

DA Rachael Rollins is a SJW piece of work. She has decided that shoplifting, pickpocketing, low level assault etc are NOT to be prosecuted within the city of Boston.
Needless to say news travels fast and the ne'er-do-wells at camp-run-amok are on the loose. Police, and Judges are not happy. And now she is now accusing Judges of "overstepping their authority."

The DA can say that ? Oh... it's an elected post. OK, can't the judge charge her with contempt for denigrating the judgement or... talking.. above her pay grade or something ?

She has been in office for 8 months. She ran on a promise to not prosecute low level crimes. One look at her and listening to her, it is clear that Boston is on its way to mirror Detroit....

[DAWN] Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his "close friend" Russian President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... on Wednesday as the pair said they would work to boost military, trade and energy ties.
The leaders met on the first day of Russia's economic forum in the Pacific coast city of Vladivostok, an annual event since 2015 as Moscow looks to bolster relations with Asia amid tensions with the West.
"I'm very grateful to my close friend Vladimir Putin for this opportunity," Modi said at a presser following talks and a tour of a naval shipyard.
"We have reached a new stage in collaboration," he said, adding that the pair discussed "unprecedented" mutual investment in oil and gas industries.
A joint statement called for cooperation in military and technological spheres, with the possibility of creating joint ventures in India to develop and manufacture civilian aircraft.
It also called for a reorganization of the United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... Security Council to reflect the "global realities" of a multi-polar world.

Old, old, OLD News.... It is more interesting that the Dawn editors (with a wink and a nod from their Paki censors) are pushing this perfidious Russkies™ meme considering the Pakistan/China vs. India/China structural rivalries.
[DAWN] An accountability court in Lahore on Tuesday rejected a plea by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for an extension in the physical remand of Hamza Shahbaz, sending him to Lahore's Camp Jail on judicial remand in a case of alleged money laundering and assets beyond means.
Hamza, the son of PML-N president and National Assembly opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif, is facing inquiries in cases related to Ramzan Sugar Mills, money laundering and owning assets beyond means.
NAB had appealed to the court for a five-day extension in Hamza's physical remand, who has been in the bureau's custody since June 11. The PML-N leader was present in court during today's proceedings which were led by Judge Ameer Mohammad Khan, and was asked to stand in the defendant's box.
I’m sure the Israelis will be delighted to read this in the Times: “American spy satellites watched Israeli drones take off from bases in Azerbaijan and fly south over the Iranian border — taking extensive pictures of Iran’s nuclear sites” https://t.co/LihvOHClec
[Townhall] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Tuesday morning that his office is working on bringing the United States and Russia together for a summit to address the ongoing threat of Iran in the Middle East. The summit would be held in Jerusalem and would involve all three countries.
Over the past few days tensions with Hezbollah, an Iranian backed terrorist organization based in Lebanon, have increased significantly. Israel received fire from its northern border with Lebanon and shot back. The United States and a number of Middle Eastern countries condemned Hezbollah's actions, which did not go unnoticed by the Israeli government.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Salih Muslim, said this week, as reported by the Kurdish-language Khabar publication, that his political group is ready to return to Damascus to restart peace talks with the Syrian government.
The long-time leader of the PYD said that his political party is ready to go to Damascus and negotiate with Damascus as many times as needed until a political solution is reached.
"We went to Damascus and we will go again until we find free people who can sit with our delegation and to let everyone know that we are free in our desires and we will maintain our character," Moslem said.
Moslem’s comments came during a meeting in Tal al-Abyad (Al-Raqqa) between the PYD-aligned tribes in the Euphrates River Valley region.
Previously, negotiations between the Syrian government and Syrian Democratic Council have failed, as both were unable to reach a compromise on the future of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and political autonomy in the SDC-governed areas.
