According to the survey I just did of over 16,000 people, fully vaccinated people are more than 2X as likely to get COVID than the unvaccinated.
What I found was fascinating is that if you did get COVID, the probability of being hospitalized was identical in the two groups.

[RT] The confrontation between Democrats and Republicans in the US could spiral into a full-blown civil war, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said.
Speaking to RT and TASS news agency on Saturday, Medvedev said there is "a colossal rift between the elites" in the US. "It’s a clash between the conservative Republican establishment and the liberal segment, represented by the Democratic Party, which has actually torn America apart."
"America is currently in a state of internal strife. America is conflicting with itself," Medvedev, who is currently the deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council, argued. "Moreover, in my view, this strife is irreconcilable in some aspects. Such domestic conflicts often end with a civil war."
"I don’t know what will happen in the US, but the level of conflict right now is [high]," he said.
Medvedev noted the ongoing criminal prosecution of ex-President Donald Trump, who is seeking the Republican Party nomination to run against the incumbent, Joe Biden, in the 2024 presidential election. Medvedev claimed that the charges against Trump have been brought "not for the sake of justice, but to prevent Trump from participating in the new election."
Asked whether there are similarities between the administration of Barack Obama and the Biden White House in terms of dealing with conflicts, Medvedev said there was more "pragmatism" during the Obama years. Nope. They just were trying things out - seeing if anybody can oppose them effectively.

[The Cool Down] Air pollution has a clear impact on our ability to breathe and has been linked to many health risks, such as heart disease, lung cancer, and emphysema. Now, scientists have uncovered another possible hidden risk of air pollution: dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health conducted an analysis of 14 prior studies and concluded that chronic exposure to air containing high levels of pollution classified as "fine particulate matter" was consistently associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s, Bloomberg reported.
This increased risk applied to those exposed to air pollution levels below the current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standard.
What is particulate air pollution?
Particle pollution, which includes dirt, dust, soot, and smoke, is created by cars, coal fires, factories, and construction sites. As the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) explains, breathing in particle pollution can be harmful to our health, particularly the super tiny ones, as they "can get into the deep parts of your lungs — or even into your blood."
"Everybody has to breathe, so everybody is exposed to this," Professor Marc Weisskopf, one of the authors of the study, said in the BMJ medical journal, where the study was published. "The population-level effect could actually be quite large because the number of people exposed is massive."
He went on to cite the need for regulators to step in and protect people from the many risks associated with worsening air quality.

But a study quietly re-shared by the National Institutes of Health in spring suggests the tight-fitting mask may expose users to dangerous levels of toxic chemicals.
Researchers from Jeonbuk National University in South Korea looked at two types of disposable medical-grade masks, as well as several reusable cotton masks.
The study found that the chemicals released by these masks had eight times the recommended safety limit of toxic volatile organic compounds (TVOCs).
Inhaling TVOCs has been linked to health issues like headaches and nausea, while prolonged and repeated has been linked to organ damage and even cancer.

When I was working in Oak Ridge the Gubamint did a study on TVOCs in the office place. The study determined that the primary source for them was human bio-effluent emissions, otherwise known as burps and farts.
