-Lurid Crime Tales-
Border patrol seizes over 90,000 ammo rounds
[JustTheNews] Officers of U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than 90,000 rounds of large-caliber ammo on Saturday. CBP officers intercepted the illicit shipment on a commercial tour bus headed toward Mexico via the Bridge of the Americas in El Paso, Texas.
Toward Mexico? Surely they can make their own more cheaply down there…
"The seizure almost triples the amount of ammunition CBP officers performing outbound enforcement inspections at the El Paso field office have made during the last three fiscal years (FY) combined," according to a CBP blurb.

CBP reports having "seized 15,678 rounds in FY 2021, 7,224 rounds in FY 2022 and 11,205 rounds in FY 2023."

Although CBP's primary focus is intercepting inbound contraband, "the agency will also perform outbound inspections as part of our overall enforcement portfolio."

"The magnitude of this seizure is impactful," CBP said. "Had this ammunition fallen into the hands of transnational criminal organizations the impact could have been devasting."

CBP officers seized the ammo shortly after 7 PM on Saturday "when members of CBP’s Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team (ATCET) initiated an operation at the southbound lanes of the BOTA port of entry."

CBP selected a Mexico-bound commercial tour bus for secondary inspection after "officers noted that the two bus drivers depicted nervous behavior during the routine inspection."

The secondary inspection revealed "multiple 27-gallon plastic storage totes that seemed very heavy."

"Upon inspection of the totes they were found to contain boxes of ammunition A total of 59,900 rounds of .223 ammunition and 33,000 rounds 7.62 x 39 ammunition were seized," CBP said.

Homeland Security Investigations arrested the drivers, who "will face charges related to the failed smuggling attempt."

"CBP seized the bus," which had 16 passengers. A passenger in the U.S. illegally was processed. The remaining passengers "were released and continued their journey on a different bus."
Interesting times.

#2  Thought experiment: Consider this from a military logistics perspective. If you are going to conduct major clandestine ground ops into the US from Mexico, and expect to have significant expenditure of ammunition, would you want your lines of supply (MSR) north of you? Your major supply depot(s) should be in Mexico, safe from interdiction, akin to the Viet Cong Laos sites in the Viet Nam era.

As for why it is being imported into Mexico from the US, the Mexican government has undoubtedly got very good awareness of large ammunition production facilities in Mexico and how/by whom it is being purchased, but little to no visibility of what is being bought in bulk in the US and sent south.

#9  Project Eldest Son

During the Vietnam War, the United States' Studies and Observation Group (SOG) conducted a covert operation called Project Eldest Son, which involved placing exploding cartridges into supplies used by communist combat forces. The project, also known as "Italian Green" or "Pole Bean", involved assembling 11,565 7.62×39mm cartridges for AK-47 rifles, 556 12.7×108mm heavy machine gun cartridges, and 1,968 82mm Type 67 mortar shells. The cartridges were designed to detonate when the weapons were fired, and were an example of unconventional warfare.

I have it on good authority that variations on the 'Eldest Son' theme took place in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sudan files lawsuits against 12 alleged mercenaries, says spokesperson - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
has filed lawsuits against 12 alleged mercenaries from African and Arab countries, a government spokesperson said on Thursday, as the conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) enters its fifth month.

The government accuses the RSF of using mercenaries from neighbouring countries in the conflict that erupted on April 15.

''Cases have been opened against 12 foreign mercenaries — and they will be tried later,'' Information Minister and government spokesperson Graham Abdel Gadir said.

He added that the public prosecutor has registered 15,868 cases against RSF leaders and members and issued arrest warrants for 16 of their collaborators.

In April, arrest warrants were issued for former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and 16 other opposition leaders, accused of inciting war against the state. The coalition described the charges as malicious.

Abdel Gadir also said the RSF released 19,481 inmates from more than 39 prisons, leading to violations against civilians and looting.

#1  he Wagner Group began its deployments in Sudan during the rule of former President Omar al-Bashir, who was forced from power in 2019 during large-scale protests.
Fearing that his rule was shaky, al-Bashir travelled to Russia in 2017 to meet with President Vladimir Putin and pitch Sudan to him as Russia’s “gateway to Africa” in return for Russian support. A short time later, Meroe Gold, a new mining company owned by the Russian company M Invest, began bringing Russian experts into Sudan, Africa’s third-largest producer of gold.
In 2020, the United States Department of the Treasury sanctioned M Invest and Meroe Gold, saying that its investigations had revealed that M Invest was a cover for the Wagner Group.
Sudan: The Wagner Group was “primarily aimed at guarding mineral resources, particularly gold mining resources, and acting as a support force for the Bashir government in terms of protecting it from international opposition”, Samuel Ramadi, author of the book Russia in Africa, told Al Jazeera.

Armed men kill at least 13 farmers in Nigeria's conflict-hit region
[AFRICANEWS] Armed men killed at least 13 farmers during an attack in north-central Nigeria, a local official said Thursday.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the killings that took place on Wednesday in the state of Niger .

Akilu Isyaku, a local government official, told the local radio station Crystal FM that herders and kidnappers are suspected in the attack. He suggested the farmers were killed for providing information to intelligence agencies about the movements of the button men.

North-central Nigeria has been plagued by fights for control over water and land between nomadic herders and rural farmers. The violence has killed hundreds in the region so far this year.

Once armed with sticks, the two sides now fight with guns that have been smuggled into the country. Both accuse the government of injustice and marginalization, but the festivities have also taken on a religious dimension, giving rise to militias that side with the herders, who are primarily Moslem, or the farmers from Christian communities.

The area is also known as a place of frequent kidnappings. Last week, button men kidnapped at least 20 students during an ambush in Benue state.

Escalating crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo
[AFRICANEWS] The Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC) is facing worsening turmoil, as ongoing conflicts have displaced millions and strained relations with neighboring countries.

The region, rich in natural resources, has been plagued by violence for decades, with rebel groups like the Allied Democratic Forces
...established in the early 1990s through an agreement between portions of Uganda’s Salaf Tabliq Islamic sect and the National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (NALU), who said they had been sidelined by Museveni’s policies. At the time, the rebels staged deadly attacks in Ugandan villages and the capital, including a 1998 attack in which 80 students were massacred. A Ugandan military operation later forced the ADF into eastern Congo. The ADF has since established ties with the Islamic State group. The ADF has received funding from the Government of Sudan, which has also provided supplies and training. The ADF may also have received funding from the illegal mining and logging industries of the DRC....
(ADF) and M23 fueling the conflict.

Refugees like Arthur Masimango, who fled to Uganda after his father was killed by rebels, represent the human toll of this crisis. "We were unsafe," Masimango recalls, highlighting the desperation that has driven thousands to seek safety across borders.

The violence in Eastern DRC has claimed around six million lives over three decades, and nearly seven million people have been displaced. Despite international efforts, the conflict's impact is felt across the Great Lakes region, disrupting trade, displacing populations, and stalling progress.

There are accusations against Rwanda for allegedly supporting the M23 militia, complicating peace efforts. Experts stress the need for unified regional leadership to address the crisis and bring lasting stability to the DRC and its neighbors.

#1  Around the year 1900 there was the Heshamite kingdom of Transjordan and there was Yemen. There was no Saudi because the Saudi lived in Kuwait and were a favored warlord for protecting British caravans from the far east.

Then the British found oil on the Arabian peninsula. But the British will sware up and down that they did not find oil yet, even though they did.

Then the British made a deal with the warlord Saudis living in Kuwait.

The British would supply the money, the weapons, the strategic planning, the political support all around the world, and the Saudis would supply the puppet figurehead.

The British, using the Saudis conquered the southern part of Transjordan and the northern part of Yemen and established a new country called Saudi Arabia. (THIS COUNTRY SHOULD NOT EXIST,AND IRAN KNOWS IT)

But now, it has been discovered that under Yemen there is more oil than the Saudis had, plus there is natural gas the Saudido not have.

So, the race was on to conquer Yemen.

That is why the US, using Saudi (again) bombed Yemen for the last 12 years

Murder case filed against Shakib, Ferdous
[DHAKATRIBUNE] A murder case has been filed against cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and actor Ferdous Ahmed, both former Awami League MPs from the 12th parliament.

Rafiqul Islam, the father of the dear departed Rubel, filed the case on Thursday with Adabor cop shoppe in Dhaka.

Shakib is the 28th accused in the case while Ferdous accused no 55.

Other accused include former prime minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...

First verdict handed down to participants in riots at Makhachkala airport
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Armavir City Court issued the first sentence to participants in the mass riots at the Makhachkala airport in October 2023; five defendants in the criminal case were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six years and four months to nine years. This was reported on August 23 by the united press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory.

“The court sentenced the following people to imprisonment: [ Anvarbek ] Atayev — six years and four months; [ Islam ] Ibragimov — six years and four months; [ Magomed ] Omaraskhabov — six years and four months; [ Salik ] Ramazanov — six years and four months; [ Rabadan ] Radzhabov — for the totality of the crimes committed, by partial addition of the sentences — nine years,” the press service’s Telegram channel said.

All defendants were found guilty under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Participation in mass riots”), and Radzhabov was also found guilty under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Use of violence against a government official”).

It is noted that the said individuals participated in crowd riots at the call of the organizers out of national and religious hatred and enmity after the arrival of a plane from Tel Aviv at the Makhachkala airport.

"The defendants, in search of passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv, together with a crowd, broke through the cordon, broke down the doors of the terminal and broke into the aircraft parking lot. The actions of the defendants and other individuals (more than 1,500, 136 of whom have been identified) led to a complete blockade of the airport's operations," the statement added.

The defendants did not admit their guilt. They will serve their sentences in a general regime penal colony.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on the evening of October 29, 2023, over 1,200 people rioted at the Uytash airport in Makhachkala, breaking into the airport building and then onto the airfield. There they surrounded a bus with passengers from a plane arriving at the airport from Tel Aviv.

The riots occurred against the backdrop of the escalation of the Middle East conflict and the situation in the Gaza Strip. Security forces stopped the actions of the hooligans, and the passengers of the flight were not harmed.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on this fact under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Mass riots"). Law enforcement officers detained 60 participants in the riots on the spot, and then another 20 people involved in them.

On October 30, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the riots at Makhachkala airport were organized by Western intelligence agents. The head of state added that they were organized through social networks, including from Ukraine.

On July 9, Dagestan Interior Minister Abdurashid Magomedov said that 140 participants in the riots at Makhachkala airport were in custody. According to him, another 1,200 people from among the rioters were brought to administrative responsibility.

Relatives of those convicted in the Uytash airport pogrom case consider the sentence harsh

The court issued a harsh sentence in the case of the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport, without evidence of the defendants' guilt, the sentence will be appealed, the lawyers and relatives of the convicted stated. In such cases, it is difficult to achieve acquittal in an appeal, the head of the Dagestan POC believes.

As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel", the Armavir City Court twice postponed the start of the hearing of the case of riots at the Makhachkala airport against five defendants - Anvarbek Atayev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radzhabov and Salik Ramazanov. The arrest of the accused was extended until December 30. At the hearing of the Armavir City Court on the case of riots at the Makhachkala airport, the state prosecutor  asked to sentence the five defendants to terms of seven to 10 years. Today, the court sentenced the defendants to terms of six years, four months to nine years.

On October 29, 2023, mass riots occurred at the Makhachkala airport due to the announcement of the arrival of a plane with passengers from Israel. More than 20 people were injured in the riots, 140 people are in custody, 1,200 people were brought to administrative responsibility. The accused claim that they were at the airport, but did not take part in the riots, noted the chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan Shamil Khadulaev on June 13. What happened at the Uytash airport and how the investigation is going is described in the "Caucasian Knot" report " The case of the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport ".

Magomed Omaraskhabov's lawyer Laila Ubaidulaeva believes the sentence is extremely harsh. "This sentence can be called absolutely illegal. Guilt must be confirmed by evidence, and here there is no evidence, but there is a very harsh sentence. This is unfair. The court ignored the lack of evidence and issued a knowingly illegal sentence," she told the "Caucasian Knot".

The verdict will be appealed soon. "We will definitely appeal the verdict as soon as we receive all the necessary materials. If the decision is upheld, we will go to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. We will go to the very end. Other lawyers are also planning to appeal the verdict," she noted.

Omaraskhabov's mother does not believe that the court handed down such a harsh sentence. "I knew that there would be a guilty verdict, I was prepared for it, but I was not prepared for my son to be given more than six years. This is a monstrous decision, such sentences cannot be handed down," she told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, barely holding back tears.

According to her, the convicts were steadfast, but were unhappy with the verdict. "They tried to calm me down. But it was clear that they did not expect such a verdict, they were in shock, but they kept their cool," she noted.

Gulya, the mother of Salik Ramazanov, who was sentenced to six years and four months, also did not expect "that they could give such a long term for being at the airport." "He did nothing there, he did not beat anyone, did not break or destroy anything. He was just standing there, he ended up at the airport by accident. During all these court hearings, no one brought up even one fact of his guilt," she told the "Caucasian Knot."

According to her, the lawyers of all the convicted are going to appeal the sentence. "Of course, we will appeal. Everyone will. What did they give him six years for? For working as a taxi driver, taking clients to the airport, getting interested himself and just standing there, watching what was happening, for that? This is complete lawlessness. Real provocateurs and violators are not tried, but our guys were sentenced so harshly. He is 27 years old, not married yet, he will spend six years of his life in prison for nothing. He is very kind, has never broken the law, has no problems with law enforcement agencies, such people should not be imprisoned," she noted.

Gulya also said that the convicts themselves reacted calmly to the verdict. "They are real men. They did not show any emotions. They were calm and even calmed us down in the courtroom," she said.

The Chairman of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev, also considers the sentence to be harsh. "This is a fairly harsh sentence, considering that, as the lawyers said, there is no evidence of the guilt of these guys in the case. If they were simply present there, did not beat anyone or break anything, then the sentence can be called harsh," he told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to him, the sentence should be appealed, but there is little chance of changing the decision. "Practice shows that in such cases, the terms are not reduced. They leave the court's decision in force. They can reduce it by six months at most, but no more," he noted.

Four people died during the hostage taking in the Volgograd colony

[Regnum] Four people died as a result of hostage-taking in a penal colony in the Volgograd region. This was reported on August 23 by the Federal Penitentiary Service.

"The criminals inflicted stab wounds of varying severity on four employees, three of whom died. Another four who resisted were hospitalized, one of whom died in the hospital," the department said.

It was specified that the attackers took 12 people hostage, eight of whom were colony employees and four more were prisoners.

During the special operation, security forces eliminated all four criminals. There were no casualties among the FSIN employees who took part in the release of the hostages.

The Federal Penitentiary Service expressed deep condolences to the families and friends of the employees who died in the line of duty. They will be provided with all necessary assistance.

As previously reported by IA Regnum, special forces eliminated four prisoners who had taken hostages in IK-19, all hostages were rescued. Snipers of the special forces of the Russian Guard neutralized the attackers with four precise shots.

On August 23, a group of prisoners took several FSIN employees hostage at a disciplinary commission meeting in a Volgograd penal colony. The attackers demanded $2 million and a helicopter, as well as the opportunity to leave Russia via the border with Georgia.

The head of the correctional colony IK-19 in Surovikino, Volgograd region, Andrei Devyatov, who was wounded during the hostage taking, was sent by helicopter to a hospital in Volgograd.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on the fact of hostage-taking in the Volgograd Region under Part 4 of Article 206 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Taking of hostages”) and Part 3 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Disorganization of the activities of institutions that ensure isolation from society”).

Prisoners in Russia shot by snipers after killing 4 guards, pledging fealty to ISIS

[IsraelTimes] Snipers from Russia’s National Guard on Friday killed four inmates who had stabbed four prison guards to death and briefly held others as hostages while declaring allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

The Federal Prison Service said that four inmates took eight prison guards and four inmates hostage. It said they stabbed four of the guards, three of whom went titzup and the fourth one later died at a hospital. The agency said three other guards were hospitalized with injuries.

Russia’s National Guard said its snipers "neutralized" all four attackers, freeing all the hostages, while the Federal Prison Service also claimed credit for killing the assailants.

The discrepancy could not be immediately explained. Details of the violence at the prison in Surovkino in the Volgograd region, 860 kilometers southeast of Moscow, were sparse and it was not clear how the inmates had taken hostages several hours earlier.

Videos that purportedly came from the scene and circulated on Russian media and messaging app channels showed men wielding knives inside and in a prison yard and several men in what appeared to be guard uniforms lying in blood on the ground.

In the videos, the alleged attackers claimed support for the Islamic State group and for the suspects arrested in the March terrorist attack on a Moscow concert hall that left 145 people dead. An ISIS affiliate grabbed credit for that attack, in which button men killed patrons waiting for a popular music group to perform and set the building on fire.

The state news agency Tass said court records showed that the hostage-takers were from former Soviet Central Asian countries; all the concert hall attack suspects are from Tajikistan.

Police officer injured after two cars are lit on fire outside French synagogue in ''terrorist'' act
[NYPOST] French President Emmanuel Macron called Saturday's suspected arson attack on a synagogue in southern La Belle France a ''terrorist act'' — as authorities increased security at Jewish houses of worship around the country.

A police officer was hurt when two parked cars outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, near Montpellier, were set on fire and went kaboom!.
VBIED. But was it jihadis or radical leftists? Still Page 1: WoT either way, but it would be nice to know if the Black Blockers are getting in on the jihadi shtick.
Two of the synagogue's doors were damaged in the blast, La Belle France24 reported.

A gas canister was found in one of the cars, the outlet noted.

It was not immediately clear how many people were inside the synagogue at the time of the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

''Our thoughts are with the congregation at the Grande-Motte synagogue and all the Jews in our country,'' Macron wrote on X.''Everything is being done to find the perpetrator of this terrorist act and to protect places of worship. The fight against anti-Semitism is a constant battle, that of a united nation.''

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin vowed that ''all means are being mobilized'' to find the perpetrator.
Update from the Times of Israel at 12:30 p.m. ET. — which has an image of the miscreant, but does not clarify the question:
A suspect caught on a surveillance camera outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in the seaside resort of La Grande-Motte, near the city of Montpellier, was caught in surveillance camera footage clad in a Palestinian flag.

A number of people reported killed in a terror knife attack in the western German city of Solingen
[X]

Police say the attack happened during a festival in the city centre on Friday evening. The attacker is believed to be still on the lam.

Bild website says a man randomly stabbed passers-by. A manhunt is now under way, with police helicopters seen hovering above the city.

The attack happened during the festival marking 650 years of Solingen.

The city authorities asked people to leave the Fronhof market area and police are imposing security cordons.

Emergency crews at the scene are now treating the injured, media reports say.

Philipp Muller, one of the concert co-organisers, said the emergency crews were fighting for the lives of nine people, the Solinger Tageblatt newspaper reports.

"People are shocked, but left the square peacefully," Mr Muller said.
Deutsche Welle adds:
An unknown assailant has killed three people and seriously injured four more with a knife, according to police. The attack took place as the city of Solingen was celebrating its 650th anniversary.

Philipp Müller, one of the co-organizers, said paramedics are fighting to save the lives of nine people.

The incident took place at Fronhof, a marketplace in the center of the city, where a stage had been set up for live music.

Authorities asked residents to leave the city center, according to the Solinger Tageblatt.

The police have issued a major alert and declared a manhunt. Armed officers are currently on the scene and have cordoned off large areas of the city. There are barriers all over the city. According to the German daily Bild, heavily armed SEK units with about 40 special vehicles from all over North Rhine-Westphalia had been deployed to Solingen. Road junctions have been blocked and residents have been asked to stay indoors and avoid the city center, the publication said.

Solingen has a population of about 160,000. It is located near the larger cities of Cologne and Düsseldorf in Germany's most populous state, North Rhine-Westphalia.
More from Breitbart:
At least three people were reportedly killed and several others were left in serious condition after a mass stabbing at a “Festival of Diversity” in the German city of Solingen on Friday evening.

UPDATE 2315: Germany’s Bild newspaper has reported that eyewitnesses said that they saw an “Arab-looking man” flee from the scene of the attack. The suspect is still at large at the time of this reporting.
Looks like we have Sudden Jihad Syndrome. Odds are good the knifeman was a known refugee who had recently been rejected by the authorities, was receiving mental health treatment, a petty criminal, and had known connections jihadis or jihad-linked organizations.
Tragedy struck as the city of Solingen celebrated its 650th anniversary with a “Festival of Diversity” as a reported mass stabbing took place as festival goers gathered in the city centre.

According to the local Solinger Tageblatt newspaper, citing two sources at the scene, the believed knife attack left three people dead, six others were seriously injured, and another was injured.

The Times of Israel adds this final, sad note:
Festival organizer Mueller later told the Tageblatt that the rest of the festival would also be canceled.

“We’ve just informed all the artists and stand operators,” he said.

Courtesy of Skidmark, the Daily Mail adds:
Cops have launched a desperate manhunt for the killer who committed the 'brutal and senseless' strike at 9.45pm before fleeing - leaving a woman and two men from Solingen and nearby Dusseldorf dead.

Police are said to be classifying it as a terrorist attack, according to Bild. Germany's armed special police officers have been deployed to assist at the scene.

Police spokesperson Alexander Kresta said: 'We would like to have a precise description of the perpetrator. That is difficult. Witnesses are in shock or can't speak at the moment.

'We assume [it is] a single offender. He's on the run. He killed three people at the city festival and seriously injured at least four. So we can't say that he's not dangerous.

Germany's top security official, interior minister Nancy Faeser, recently proposed toughening weapons laws to allow only knives with a blade measuring up to 6cm (nearly 2.4in) to be carried in public, rather than the length of 12cm (4.7in), which is allowed now.

The country has seen a series of knife attacks over the past 12 months.

Solingen stabbing suspect detained, local minister says
Police have arrested a main suspect following the knife attack in Solingen, Interior Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Herbert Reul told German TV.

The minister spoke of a "real suspect" who police had been looking for all day, after a third person had been arrested in connection with the incident.

"They were very probably, still cautiously speaking, not the ones we really suspected," said Reul with regard to the two previous arrests.

"I myself am a bit relieved at the moment," the minister added. "I can only tell you that it is now more than a hunch. Not only did we have a lead on this person, but we've also found pieces of evidence."

The arrested suspect's clothes were dirty and covered in blood, the German news magazine Der Spiegel quoted security sources as saying.

Also, from an earlier post:

One person was arrested in a refugee center in Solingen on Saturday evening, a day after the stabbing rampage that left three people dead and five injured. A police spokesman told the DPA news agency that investigations were continuing.

Whether the detainee is suspected of being the attacker, authorities did not say. Links to the attack are still being investigated, the police spokesman said.

Earlier in the day, police detained a 15-year-old who allegedly had prior knowledge of the attack.

Hamas hits Israeli military site in Gaza Friday; IDF rampages across the entire Gaza Strip, destroys 1 km Rafah tunnel, kills dozens of jihadis
[GEO.TV] Qassam, the armed wing of Hamas, has said that they targeted “an enemy command, control and mobilisation centre in the Netzarim axis with a ‘Zuari’ suicide drone”. The Netzarim Corridor is an Israeli-controlled area that divides Gaza between north and south.

IDF reservist killed, others wounded by explosive device in Gaza City

[IsraelTimes] Troops were operating in Zeitoun neighborhood as part of efforts to expand central Gaza corridor; military issues evacuation warning after rockets fired at Sderot

A reserve soldier was killed and several others were maimed Friday morning by an bomb set off by Hamas

...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
City, the Israel Defense Forces said. The slain soldier was named as Sgt. First Class (res.) Evyatar Atuar, 24, of the Jerusalem Brigade’s 6310th Battalion, from Rosh Haayin.

The Jerusalem Brigade in recent days had been carrying out an operation in Gaza City’s southern neighborhood of Zeitoun, to expand the military’s Netzarim Corridor.

The Netzarim Corridor is built around a road south of Gaza City, enabling the IDF to carry out raids in northern and central Gaza while allowing Israel to control access to the north for Paleostinians seeking to return after fleeing south. It also enables Israel to coordinate deliveries of humanitarian aid directly to northern Gaza.

According to an initial IDF probe, the reservists reached a building in Zeitoun and began to search it. As four soldiers from the force entered the structure, an bomb planted on the outer wall of the building went kaboom!. The blast hurt those standing outside the building, not those inside. At least four other soldiers were seriously maimed, and another three were moderately hurt, according to the IDF.

The military believed that Hamas operatives had set up a camera at the building and then detonated the bomb upon identifying troops in the area.

Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip now stands at 337.

Also in Zeitoun on Friday, the IDF said it carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
against a Hamas command room embedded within a former school. According to the military, Hamas was using the command room at the Ali Bin Abi Talib School to store "many" weapons and carry out attacks. To mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, the IDF said it carried out "many steps," including using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

"The Hamas terror organization systematically violates international law, brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the population as a human shield for terror activity," the military said.

In recent months, dozens of airstrikes have been carried out against Hamas sites embedded within schools and other sites used as shelters for civilians, according to the IDF. The IDF added that it will "continue to act with strength and determination against the terror organizations that use schools and civilian institutions as shelters."

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other shoulder......
two rockets were launched from northern Gaza at the southern city of Sderot. According to the IDF, one of the rockets was intercepted by air defenses and the second struck an open area, causing no injuries or damage. Sirens had sounded in Sderot and nearby communities.

Following the rocket fire, the military called on Paleostinians in the Atatra area of northern Gaza to evacuate and head to "shelters west of Gaza City." Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, published a map of the zones that need to be evacuated. He said the military would "forcefully operate" against Hamas and other terror groups in the area following the rocket fire.

The IDF in recent months has repeatedly issued evacuation orders for areas from which bandidos murderous Moslems launched rockets at Israel. The successive evacuation orders, including 12 orders in August alone, have displaced roughly 90 percent of the Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million residents since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, the top United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
humanitarian official for the Paleostinian enclave said.

Muhannad Hadi charged that the evacuation orders of endangering civilians instead of protecting them. Israel says the orders are aimed at warning civilians ahead of major airstrikes or ground operations, thus protecting the population, which comes at the cost of also giving Hamas operatives advanced warning of Israeli actions.

"They are forcing families to flee again, often under fire and with the few belongings they can carry with them, into an ever-shrinking area" that is crowded and unsafe, according to Hadi.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that due to the recent evacuation orders, the UN’s World Food Programme has lost access to its warehouse in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah.

"This was the third and last operational warehouse in Gaza’s middle area," Dujarric said. "Five community kitchens operated by WFP have also been evacuated, as the agency seeks new locations for them."

The size of the Israeli-designated "humanitarian zone" in Gaza — located in the al-Mawasi area on the southern Strip’s coast, western neighborhoods of Khan Younis, and central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah. — has changed multiple times in recent months amid evolving IDF operations against the Hamas terror group.

TROOPS DEMOLISH KILOMETER-LONG ATTACK TUNNEL IN RAFAH
In other updates on Friday, the IDF said that over the past day, more than 30 targets were struck by the Israeli Air Force in the Gaza Strip, as troops battled and killed dozens of button men. The targets hit by IAF aircraft included Hamas compounds, weapon depots, and rocket launching positions in Khan Younis, according to the military.

In Khan Younis and on the outskirts of Deir al-Balah, the IDF said that troops with the 98th Division killed dozens of button men and destroyed dozens of sites belonging to terror groups.

Further south, in Rafah, the IDF’s 162nd Division continued to operate in the Tel Sultan neighborhood, where the military said troops killed dozens more terror operatives in the past day.

In central Gaza’s Netzarim Corridor, reservists with the 252nd Division killed a terror operative who was carrying explosives, and struck a rocket launching site, the IDF added.

Also Friday, the IDF said combat engineers demolished a Hamas attack tunnel in southern Gaza’s Rafah, where a cell of terror operatives emerged in an attempted attack earlier this month. The tunnel was at least a kilometer long, according to the IDF. In the attack on August 11, a cell of operatives was identified emerging from a tunnel shaft, and a short while later they were killed in a dronezap. Since then, the IDF said combat engineers worked to investigate the tunnel. Inside, the troops found bombs, electrical infrastructure, and blast doors, the military says. The tunnel was demolished after being investigated.

#1  Imagine the work, the years involved in building a complex tunnel structure. A structure that is being eliminated. If Israel controls the border with Egypt, as long as that occurs (as it must) Hamas will be hamstrung and cross border tunneling will end.

Gallant on Wednesday: IDF razed 150 tunnels on Egypt-Gaza border, defeated Hamas’s Rafah Brigade
[IsraelTimes] Army says it killed dozens of gunmen and struck 30 targets Wednesday, including Hamas command post in a school; urges evacuation from humanitarian area set to become ‘dangerous combat zone’

More than 150 tunnels have been demolished along Gaza’s southern border, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced Wednesday, as the army said it destroyed some 30 terror sites and killed dozens of gunmen in airstrikes across the enclave over the past day.

The IDF on Wednesday also called on Palestinians to evacuate from part of the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah where the army vowed to “forcefully operate” against terror groups.

Speaking to troops at the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs along the border, Gallant said the IDF’s 162nd Division had defeated Hamas’s Rafah Brigade, which is centered in the Strip’s southernmost city.

“The most important thing,” he said, “is to remember what the goals of the war are, to meet all the goals of the war, both regarding Hamas and also regarding the hostages, and to look north now.” Gallant was referring to simmering tensions with Iran’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah, which earlier in the day fired over 50 rockets at the north amid fears of an all-out war.

Meanwhile, the army said it carried out airstrikes on rocket launch sites, tunnel shafts, observation posts and a Hamas command center within a school in Gaza City, in the Strip’s north.

In the Strip’s south and center, ground troops raided Hamas sites and killed gunmen, the army said.

Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said at least 50 Palestinians were killed and over 100 injured in airstrikes over the past 24 hours.

IDF DESTROYS TERROR SITES AS GROUND TROOPS BATTLE GUNMEN
In Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood, troops with the 162nd Division killed dozens of armed terror operatives, destroyed sites belonging to terror groups and located numerous weapons, the IDF said Wednesday.

Farther north, troops with the 98th Division killed dozens more gunmen and raided Hamas sites on the outskirts of Deir el-Balah and in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, the military said.

The division also directed an airstrike on several terror operatives who had been spotted in an area from which rockets were launched at Israeli border communities several times in recent days, the IDF said.

In central Gaza’s Netzarim Corridor, reservists with the 252nd Division struck buildings that the IDF said were used by Hamas to attack troops.

In the Strip’s north, an IAF airstrike hit Hamas operatives at a command room embedded within a school in Gaza City, the army said.

According to the military, Hamas was using the command room at the Salah ad-Din School to plan and carry out attacks on Israel and troops in Gaza.

The IDF said it took “many steps” to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and other intelligence.

In recent months, the army has carried out dozens of airstrikes on Hamas sites embedded within schools and other sites used as shelters for civilians, according to the IDF. On Tuesday, the army struck what it said was a Hamas command center at a school in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood.

IDF CALLS TO EVACUATE PART OF HUMANITARIAN AREA
Amid the fighting, the IDF called on people to evacuate an Israeli-designated humanitarian area in eastern Deir el-Balah, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced by the fighting have sought shelter. The military said it would soon act against terror groups in the area.

The area is a few hundred meters away from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, one of the last functioning medical centers in the territory. There was no evacuation order for the hospital itself, but during past evacuations people have fled from areas adjacent to the declared zones for fear the fighting could spread.

Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, published on X a map of the zones that need to be evacuated.

Adraee said that the military will “forcefully operate” against terror groups in the area.

“For your safety, we urge you to evacuate immediately to the west. The area you are in is considered a dangerous combat zone,” he added.

The size of the humanitarian zone has changed multiple times, amid evolving IDF operations against the Hamas terror group.

The humanitarian zone is currently around 42 square kilometers, or 11% of the Gaza Strip’s 40 by 11 kilometers (25 by 7 miles). According to IDF estimates, 1.9 million Palestinians, or some 83 percent, of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are residing in the humanitarian zone.

Hamas sez Israel blocking ceasefire over border troops
And Hamas is blocking the ceasefire over demands that Israel never attacks Sinwar. Also their demand that Israel must first surrender and withdraw before anything else happens. What we do not have here is a meeting of minds, no matter how desperate America’s Secretary Blinken might be.
[GEOTV] A Hamas official on Friday accused Israel's prime minister of refusing to agree to a final truce accord for Gaza, where the presence of Israeli troops on the Egyptian border remained a major sticking point.

An Israeli team was in Cairo "negotiating to advance a hostage (release) agreement", Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman Omer Dostri told AFP late on Thursday.

Syria says Israeli airstrikes targeted several sites in country’s center, 3 Iran catspaws toes up

The Syrian defense ministry accused Israel of carrying out Arclight airstrike

, targeting a number of sites in the central region," it said, adding that seven civilians were maimed.

A war monitor said Israeli air strikes on Syria targeting positions of the army and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah killed three Iran-backed fighters on Friday.

"Israeli strikes have so far killed three pro-Iranian fighters and maimed about 10 others," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Britannia-based war monitor said the strikes targeted "makeshift petrol stations affiliated to Hezbollah in the Homs countryside, and struck weapons depots belonging to the group as well as two Syrian army sites in the Hama countryside."

SOHR, which relies on a network of sources inside Syria, has been accused in the past of inflating regime losses.

Since the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in the country, mainly targeting the army and its Iran-backed allies.

According to CENTCOM, al-Makki was killed in a "targeted kinetic strike" in Syria.

At least 7 Hezbollah operatives killed in IDF strikes as terror group bombards north

, as the Iran-backed terrorist organization launched over 100 projectiles at the north throughout the day.

The strikes included the targeting of a Hezbollah cell preparing to shoot rockets from the village of Tayr Harfa. The other Hezbollah members were killed in separate attacks in Ayta al-Jabal, Mays al-Jabal, Aitaroun and Maarakeh.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the airstrike in Ayta al-Jabal targeted Muhammad Najam, a prominent member of Hezbollah’s rocket and missile unit in southern Lebanon. Lebanese media reported that alongside Najam, his nephew Zulfiqar Radwan was also killed in the strike on Ayta al-Jabal.

The military also identified Saeed Mahmoud Diab, who was killed in Maarakeh by an IDF drone, as a member of Hezbollah’s rocket and missile unit.

The IDF said the operative in Mays al-Jabal had launched rockets at the Yiftah area earlier in the day and was killed upon being spotted at a building used by Hezbollah, while the operative in Aitaroun was struck shooting projectiles toward Malkia.

Hezbollah later released statements announcing seven members were killed "on the road to Jerusalem," its term for operatives slain in Israeli strikes, naming Najam among them.

Their deaths brought Hezbollah’s declared toll to at least 427 since it began attacking northern Israel a day after the October 7 terror onslaught from Gazoo

The Israeli strikes followed several Hezbollah attacks in the morning, including the firing of missiles at the Mount Meron base.

Hezbollah has attacked Mount Meron, located some eight kilometers (5 miles) from the Lebanon border, several times amid the ongoing war, launching large barrages of rockets toward the site, as well as guided missiles at the sensitive air traffic control base that sits atop it.

The IDF reported no injuries in the latest attack, during which three projectiles were fired at the base, one of which was intercepted.

Hezbollah also launched several rocket volleys at northern Israel on Friday, including a fusillade of some 40 projectiles fired at the Kiryat Shmona area and a salvo of around 20 rockets targeting Safed and its surroundings.

No injuries were reported in any of the attacks.

The IDF said some of the rockets fired toward Safed and Kiryat Shmona were shot down by air defenses, while the rest struck open areas.

However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
there were several impacts in Kiryat Shmona following another Hezbollah rocket barrage Friday night, with one home set ablaze after being struck by a projectile.

Some of the rockets also sparked forest fires near Safed, which were extinguished hours later. The IDF later said it destroyed a Hezbollah rocket launcher in at-Tiri that was used in the barrage on Safed.

Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis. So far, the skirmishes have resulted in 26 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 19 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

In addition to the 427 members whose deaths Hezbollah has announced during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria, another 73 operatives from other terror groups have been killed in Lebanon by Israeli strikes. A Lebanese soldier and dozens of civilians have also been killed.
