[Breitbart] The Muslim charged with setting fire to his own mosque turned over his passport and the judge set his bond at $150,000 on Monday. He remains in jail.
True to a prediction by Breitbart News’ John Nolte, once authorities revealed the identity of the alleged arsonist as not a white racist inspired by Donald Trump but a Muslim, the mainstream media lost interest in the story.
Moore did not appear in court but was represented by his attorney Edward M. Chernoff. His arraignment where charges will be formally read against him has been reset upon the request of his lawyer. He will have an opportunity to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty at that time.
Gary Nathaniel Moore has been charged with arson in a place of worship, a first degree felony.
As reported by Breitbart Texas, the charging instrument stated that Moore started a fire by igniting materials at a place of worship on Christmas Day. The complaint charges that he used and exhibited a deadly weapon, namely a fire, to commit the felony offense of arson at the Savoy Masjid Mosque in Houston.
Moore told a Houston fire investigator that he has been a member of the mosque for five years, and comes to the mosque to pray five times a day, seven days a week, as reported by Breitbart Texas.
Breitbart News reported shortly after Moore’s arrest that the media immediately exploited the conflagration at the mosque to place the blame for the fire on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The theory quickly went up in smoke upon the devout Muslim’s arrest.
CBS, CNN, and NBC media outlets all published articles reporting the arson should be investigated because of the “recent spike in hate incidents targeting mosques nationwide.”
Breitbart News reported that a CBS News article said that advocacy groups believed “that there has been a spike in anti-Muslim incidents across the United States in recent weeks that can be linked to the mass shooting in California and the inflammatory rhetoric of Donald Trump and other presidential candidates. And they say that Muslims are fearful the backlash could lead to further harassment and violence.”
Salon.com also refused to change an extremely misleading headline that blamed the fire on “anti-Muslim violence,” even after the identity of the Muslim suspect became known, as reported by Breitbart News.
The prediction by Breitbart News’ John Nolte that “[n]ow that a devout Muslim has been charged, the DC Media will forget all about the incident” has become true. With the exception of the hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle, and a few other Texas media outlets, Moore’s latest court appearance has gone largely unreported.
Moore is scheduled to be back in court on January 20.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The commander of the Libyan army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar ... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... confirmed the insistence of the Libyan troops to continue fighting "until the armed forces extends its control over the entire Libyan territory."
On Monday morning and during a presser with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, Haftar asserted: "We have been involved in political settlements at the request of sister countries. I started with meeting the President of the Presidential Council Fayez al-Siraj in Abu Dhabi and then in Gay Paree, but he disregarded many of the agreed upon principles and conditions."
He added that: "The whole world has been following the sacrifices of the army for three years in its fight against terrorism under an unjust siege represented by the prohibition of arming it in parallel with unlimited support for terrorism," stressing that the army is determined to continue its mission in the fight against terrorism throughout the country.
International mediators called not to resort to what he called "ready-made solutions to resolve the Libyan crisis," asserting that there will not be any support for any political settlement unless it is " under the sponsorship of the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... , and that Moscow actively supports the political process and the restoration of the Libyan state structures."
Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar arrived in Moscow at the invitation of Russia to discuss a number of files. The Information Office of the Libyan army leadership commented that among the issues discussed is "ways to support the fight against terrorism and the latest political situation in Libya."

[AlAhram] Egypt will open its border crossing with Gazoo for four days starting Monday, state news agency MENA reported.
Earlier today, al-Ahram Arabic website quoted a Hamas delegation currently in Cairo as saying that the Rafah crossing would open for two days starting Wednesday, in one direction only, for Paleostinians to enter the Gazoo Strip.
According to the subsequent MENA report, the crossing will be open for four days, beginning on Monday, for Paleostinian pilgrims to cross from Gazoo to Egypt, in preparation for the hajj pilgrimage season in September.
There are also unconfirmed media reports that Paleostinians will be able to cross into Gazoo on Wednesday and Thursday.
A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Friday for talks with officials, according to media reports.
Egypt has kept its border with the Gazoo Strip largely closed for security reasons since the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohammed Morsi in 2013.
The crossing in northern Sinai is the only terminal not controlled by Israel.
Cairo periodically opens the border to allow civilians with foreign passports, Paleostinian students, and those with medical needs to travel back and forth.
The crossing was last opened temporarily in early July.
The border openings in recent months have come amid signs of improving ties between Cairo and Gazoo's governing group Hamas.
“The crossing was reopened this morning for four days in one direction for 2,500 pilgrims," Hisham Adwan, director of information at the crossings authority of the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run interior ministry, said.
"About 800 pilgrims will leave the Strip today," he added, saying they had all already received Saudi visas.

According to the AFP news agency, quoting Rajeh Ezzedine, a judge who attended the execution, Saket was found guilty of abducting, raping and murdering the girl.
Ali Ayedh, the victim's uncle, said Saket "took part in the search for the girl before being unmasked" during the police investigation.
It was the second such public execution in weeks.
He said his public execution would act as a "deterrent for criminals."
Saket was placed face down on Tahrir square in Sanaa, which the Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. Wonder if their immigration paperwork is in order.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] All of an estimated 40,000 Rohingya Moslems living in India are illegal immigrants colonists, even those registered with the UN refugee agency, and the government aims to deport them, a senior government official told Rooters.
Junior interior minister Kiren Rijiju told parliament last week the central government had directed state authorities to identify and deport illegal immigrants colonists including Rohingya, who face persecution in Buddhist-majority Myanmar.
The United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has issued identity cards to about 16,500 Rohingya in India that it says help them "prevent harassment, arbitrary arrests, detention and deportation".
But Rijiju, a high-profile minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government, said in an interview on the weekend that the UNHCR registration was irrelevant.
"They are doing it, we can’t stop them from registering. But we are not signatory to the accord on refugees," he said.
"As far as we are concerned they are all illegal immigrants colonists They have no basis to live here. Anybody who is illegal migrant will be deported."
The UNHCR’s India office said on Monday the principle of non-refoulement ‐ or not sending back refugees to a place where they face danger ‐ was considered part of customary international law and binding on all states whether they have signed the Refugee Convention or not.
The office said it had not received any official word about a plan to deport Rohingya refugees, and had not got any reports deportations were taking place.
The treatment of the roughly one million Rohingya in Myanmar has emerged as its most contentious human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. issue as it makes a transition from decades of harsh military rule.

[DAWN] The disclosure made by retired General Pervez Perv Musharraf ... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ... in his 2006 autobiography that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan transferred sensitive nuclear material to North Korea had come as a big embarrassment to the country, an official of the Foreign Office said on Friday at a meeting of the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee.
The disclosure had forced the Foreign Office on the defensive and left it with no choice but to regurgitate the standard response that Pakistain was firmly against nuclear proliferation, the additional secretary said.
Foreign diplomats viewed the statement with scepticism and disbelief, he added.
The Foreign Office reply came in response to a question by Senator Farhatullah Babar as to what was North Korea’s official reaction to Pervez Musharraf’s revelation in his memoir, In the Line of Fire, that a clandestine proliferation network operating from Pakistain had transferred nearly two dozen centrifuge machines, a flow meter and some special oils to North Korea.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The pro-government Shia-led paramilitary forces have said that attacked factions will take the suitable measures to respond.
In a presser held in Baghdad on Monday, Ahmed al-Assadi, spokesperson of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) said "the incidents which Sayyed al-Shuhada brigades were exposed to, occurred in depth of the Syrian land."
The troops in Syria, according to Assadi, "have been fighting there for around six years. They play a great role to prevent terrorism reach to Iraq."
If it weren’t for these factions deployed in Syria, "the Syrian regime would have fallen to those terrorists," Assadi said adding that factions "which suffer strikes, have the right to take the suitable measures."
Last week, the U.S.-led coalition denied allegations of shelling PMUs deployed near Iraqi-Syrian borders after Sayyid al-Shuhada brigades, a militia of the PMUs, said U.S. troops heavily shelled its positions across the Iraqi-Syrian borders early on Monday.
In May, Abu Alaa al-Wala’i, the secretary general of the militia, said the U.S. jets shelled the PMUs deployed in alBou Kamal region, near Iraqi-Syrian borders.
Assadi also added that the troops are only backed by Iraqi army and jets which provide them with air cover.

[IsraelTimes] Prosecutors charge trio with attempting to carry out shooting assault on Nablus bypass road in West Bank
Prosecutors on Monday charged three residents of East Jerusalem, including an American citizen, with planning to carry out a terror attack in the West Bank.
According to the indictment, which was filed at the Jerusalem District Court, Muhammed Abu Khdeir, 22, Abbas Salahi, 22, and Omro Maatuk, 22, joined the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine in October 2016 and in March began planning an attack.
After meeting with one of the terror group’s operatives, the three decided to carry out a shooting attack on a bypass road used by Israelis near the West Bank city of Nablus.
Despite their efforts, the trio were unable to acquire guns or materials for pipe bombs to be used in the attack before their arrest on July 14.
In addition to being indicted for membership of a terror group and planning a terror attack, the trio were also charged with a slew of weapons charges and rock throwing.
Salahi and Maatuk were also charged with attacking a police officer, while Maatuk was also charged with attempted arson and an additional count of attacking a police officer.
Prosecutors requested that the three be held in jug for the duration of the legal proceedings.
Abu Khdeir, who was born in Baltimore but has lived in Jerusalem since 1999,

A family member told The Forward following his arrest in 2014 that Israeli authorities detained Abu Khdeir in order to restore calm to the Shuafat neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
There was no immediate comment from US authorities on the arrest.
[IsraelTimes] The Paleostinian Authority decided to release five journalists on Monday after arresting them last week, their lawyer says, a day after political rivals Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, released a PA-linked news hound.
The five, including from Hamas-linked media, had been jugged Into the paddy wagon wit' yez! in the occupied West Bank on accusations of "leaking sensitive information to enemy groups."
Three of the five were freed earlier Monday, with the others expected to be released later in the day, the lawyer says.
"The relevant courts decided to free five journalists and all journalists are supposed to be released," Alaa Freijat, lawyer for the Paleostinian Journalists Syndicate, tells AFP.
They were held under the PA’s new electronic crimes law, which has been criticized by rights groups who say it restricts criticism of officials on social and traditional media, with the potential for jail sentences.
[AnNahar] More than 600,000 displaced Syrians have returned to their homes since the beginning of the year, with most of them heading to Aleppo, according to figures from the International Organization for Migration.
Between January and the end of July, 602,759 displaced Syrians returned to their homes, many of them citing an improved economic and security situation in the areas they had fled from, IOM said in a statement.
A total of 84 percent of those who have returned had taken refuge elsewhere within the war-ravaged country, while the remaining 16 percent returned from neighbouring countries The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... , Leb, Jordan and Iraq.
More than a quarter of returnees said they did so to protect their assets and properties, while nearly the same number referred to the improved economic situation in their place of origin, and 11 percent cited the improved security situation there.
Fourteen percent meanwhile pointed to the worsening economic situation in their place of refuge, IOM said.
But while most of the returns had been spontaneous, it warned they were "not necessarily voluntary, safe or sustainable," it said.
Aleppo Governorate, the scene of the harshest battles of Syria's bloody six-year war, had received 67 percent of all returnees so far this year, IOM said.
And within the governorate, Aleppo city, which was recaptured by the Syrian army last December after a suffocating five-month siege, has received most returnees, it said.
Many of those returning meanwhile must struggle to get bare necessities, with only 41 percent having access to clean water and 39 percent with access to health services.
This "is dangerously low as the country's infrastructure has been extremely damaged by the conflict," IOM said.
And even as returns from within Syria especially appear to be on the rise, the agency warned that the war-torn country is still seeing high rates of fresh displacement.
"From January to July 2017, an estimated 808,661 people were displaced, many for the second or third time, and over six million in total currently remain displaced within the country," it said.
More than 330,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict erupted in March 2011 with anti-government protests.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Former Iranian President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad has severely criticized Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei by comparing him to the former Shah of Iran, who was deposed in the country’s 1979 revolution.
"No one is more important than the people," Ahmadinejad gushed in a recorded clip, part of which was broadcast on his Twitter account. "Positions of power in any government are not inherited by a special group. We did not rise in a revolution against a family to replace it with another family," he stressed. The remarks were a clear reference to the domination of Ali Khamenei, his family and his entourage on Iranian governance.
Relations between Khamenei and Ahmadinejad soured in the run-up to presidential elections held over a month ago, when the Supreme Leader had asked Ahmedinejad to stand down in order to prevent "polarization" in the country. Later the Guardian Council, a panel of jurists following Khamenei’s diktats, disqualified the candidature of the former president and his close ally Hamid Baghaei on the pretext of their ineligibility to run in the presidential elections.
In his speech, whose full version the former president promised will be broadcast soon, warned of significant escalations facing the country in the times ahead.
In the wake of growing tensions with Ahmadinejad, judicial authorities under the influence of the Supreme Leader, had tossed in the slammer I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! and held the former president’s ally Hamid Baghei for several days before releasing him late last month.
They had also held Abdelraza Daouri, former media adviser to Ahmadinejad, because of "offensive" remarks found on his Facebook account by anonymous respondents. For this ’crime’, Daouri was sentenced to three years' imprisonment.

Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... has issued instructions warning bandidossnuffies against cutting their hair braids, a local source from Kirkuk province was quoted saying.
"IS made instructions through its media arm in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk warning the bandidossnuffies against cutting their braids under any circumstance," the source told AlSumaria News on Monday. "The group set the hair braids as condition to accept new volunteers."
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said, "the group ordered twenty lashes, one-week imprisonment and banning from joining three departments, with the security one on top, for whoever violates."
The group, according to the source, "considers the outfits of bandidossnuffies and the hair style as evidence on sticking to the group’s principles."
On Sunday, the group reportedly imposed curfew in Hawija after bandidossnuffies seized flyers urging them to leave the town without destruction like they did in djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... and described them as ’pigs’
Hawija and other neighboring regions, west of Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic "caliphate" in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.
Dozens of residents from Hawija and the regions in its vicinity escape to Kirkuk province on a daily basis. Despite the risky routes to the freed regions, the civilians prefer death to staying under IS control.
