Antisemitic hate crimes in New York down in recent months, stats show
[IsraelTimes] Antisemitic hate crimes in New York City have decreased in recent months compared to the same period last year, according to NYPD data.

The NYPD reports 14 antisemitic crimes in July, compared to 27 during the same month last year. Last month’s total is the lowest for any month since July 2023, when there were 11 antisemitic incidents reported to police.

In June, there were 31 anti-Jewish crimes, down from 42 the previous year, and in May, there were 24 antisemitic incidents, a decrease from 52 in May 2024.

In April, there was an increase from 29 antisemitic incidents in 2024 to 41 crimes this year.

Despite the decrease in recent months, Jews are still targeted far more than all other groups.

There were 345 antisemitic incidents reported to police in 2024, 54 percent of all hate crimes in the city. Jewish security officials believe many antisemitic incidents are not reported to police.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has made combating antisemitism a priority with the rollout of an antisemitism task force in his office. The Office to Combat Antisemitism held its inaugural meeting last month.

Antisemitism has played a major role in the city’s mayoral election campaign, with the leading candidates outlining plans to combat anti-Jewish discrimination.

Foreign donors cut aid to Somalia, hitting key services: SoDMA head
Less jizya from the Unbelievers? How dare they!
[ShabelleMedia] Somalia’s disaster management [SoDMA] chairman said Monday that several international donors have suspended financial aid to the country, dealing a significant blow to its fragile economy and humanitarian programs.

In an interview with local broadcaster Radio Shabelle, Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, head of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), warned that the impact of the aid cuts is already being felt across the country.

"Most maternal and child health (MCH) centers have been shut down due to lack of funding," Moallim said.

He added that many foreign NGOs have closed their offices in Somalia, while development projects supported by donors have come to a halt.

According to Moallim, the trend began following the election of U.S. President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
, under whose administration funding to key aid organizations operating in Somalia was significantly reduced.

The comments come amid growing concerns among economists and civil society groups, some of whom say the aid cuts are politically motivated.

Somali forces expand key Jubaland road to bolster security and civilian movement
[ShabelleMedia] Somali forces in the southern state of Jubaland, including the elite Danab commandos and the Somali National Army’s 43rd division, have successfully carried out a road expansion and rehabilitation operation connecting Janaay Cabdalle to the district of Af-Madoow, military officials said Monday.

The operation targeted a key transport route heavily used by civilians in the region. The improved road is expected to ease local movement and enhance access to services, significantly improving day-to-day life for residents.
Is that where the humanitarian money went?
"The road expansion will greatly reduce travel constraints for civilians and improve logistics for regional development," a Jubbaland security official told Radio Shabelle, requesting anonymity due to lack of authorization to speak publicly.

The effort forms part of broader counter-insurgency and stabilization operations in southern Somalia, where government and allied regional forces continue to push back against al-Shabaab
... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
bully boyz who often exploit remote terrain to launch attacks or evade capture.

Authorities believe the rehabilitated road will also reduce safe havens for hard boy groups by increasing military and civilian access to once-isolated areas.

During the course of the operation, Somali forces also conducted targeted raids in the areas of Orgiyoow, Qumbi, and surrounding villages near Dhasheeg Waammo. Several hard boy hideouts used by faceless myrmidons as staging grounds for attacks were reportedly destroyed.

Jubbaland officials praised the troops for what they called a "strategic success," noting that the mission aligns with Somalia’s national plans to improve security, restore governance, and rebuild critical infrastructure in formerly contested areas.

Smuggling Kings: How the Brits Are Cashing in on Illegal Gold from Sudan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] For several centuries now, African gold has been a subject of interest for former colonial empires. The former metropolises remain in the domestic markets of African countries, but now in the status of strategic partners.

One example of this is Kenya, which, although not the largest, is an extremely flexible supplier of precious metals, where the authorities voluntarily (and with good intentions) handed over the domestic gold market to London, although they periodically try to weaken its influence.

However, while Nairobi is fighting to save the gold industry, there are those who are quite successfully transporting “blood gold” from neighboring Sudan through Kenya. Moreover, its “destination” is also becoming Great Britain.

ENGLISH FIEFDOM
There is no precise data on the potential of Kenyan deposits, since the authorities of the African country have not allocated funds for systematic exploration and auditing for a long time, preferring to work with already known deposits discovered during the period of British colonial rule.

The Kenya Mining Authority, formally responsible for the development of the industry, gives approximate volumes of deposits: from 400 to 1,200 tons, of which no more than 10% is fully developed.

Moreover, this gold is often mined the old-fashioned way - by artisanal methods and in small quantities. Although after 2019, official Nairobi carried out a reform, revoking the licenses of most of the "artisanal miners" and transferring them to industrial players, thereby giving the industry a positive impetus.

Today, the largest players in the local gold market are the British Goldplat and the Tanzanian Acacia Mining (headquartered in London), which together control up to 70% of the industry. Also actively developing the market is the mining company Karebe Gold Mining, created and managed by Kenyan businessmen, but a subsidiary of the British corporation MARIS GROUP LIMITED.

In fact, the entire Kenyan gold mining industry is controlled by British businessmen. London views this peculiar "gold monopoly" as part of the payment to Nairobi of the "credit debt" accumulated over years of economic and natural upheavals.

And the official authorities do not particularly object to this state of affairs, although they periodically try to attract French, German, Chinese and Russian contractors to promising developments. But the British control over the industry still remains fundamental.

BLACK PROSPECTORS
Despite the fact that the Kenyan government has been trying for several years to put the gold mining industry under strict control and “whitewash” it, this does not stop the local population from carrying out illegal prospecting work.

Gold is extracted by hand sifting sand near Kenya's largest rivers, and work is also carried out in abandoned mines. Even after the reforms, the number of Kenyan "artisanal miners", according to auditors, is up to 30 thousand people - almost a third of the total number of specialists employed in the mining industry.

Some of them operate under false licenses or understate the volume of production, leaving a reserve for sale on the black market.

The illegal business has reached such proportions that in 2024 the country's authorities were forced to create a specialized unit (as part of the Mining Inspectorate) to combat "black" miners and unlicensed suppliers of minerals.

However, as practice shows, the fight against the illegal gold business is carried out to a greater extent “on the surface”: Kenyan law enforcement officers fight against individual prospectors, but do almost nothing to interfere with the activities of “cartels” - especially those operating near the borders with Sudan and Uganda.

Several major raids in the Great Rift Valley, including a major police raid last fall, came to nothing. The shadow schemes led to Paris and London and were lost there: Nairobi has neither the desire nor the ability to fight the “European protection.” The cases were closed before they went to court and received little publicity.

Of course, Kenya's example is not unique in this sense. Almost all former African colonies face similar problems, especially those where other precious metals are present in addition to gold.

The only African country that has declared a real war on shadow miners is Mali. Since the beginning of 2025, the country's National Guard has destroyed about a thousand artisanal gold mining installations. More than half of them belonged to foreigners or were guarded by them.

Official Bamako makes no allowances for origin and directly states that it will deal with lawbreakers based only on the nature of the crime, and not on their origin.

In Kenya, there is also a demand for a tougher policy – and it is even being pushed through by the “gold lobby” – but a full-scale hunt for “black” prospectors will require significant funds from Nairobi, which it has nowhere to get.

Of course, the British are ready to lend a "friendly shoulder" - for example, by hiring several PMCs to guard and patrol gold-bearing areas and even taking on the costs of their maintenance. But in exchange for significant preferences in the development of new veins. And this promises Nairobi even greater enslavement and even greater dependence on London.

ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE PRESIDENT
However, even in conditions of market instability, individual businessmen find ways to make money on gold - for example, by turning the country into a "transit point" for the trade in contraband precious metals.

Moreover, in neighboring Sudan, a country with good gold deposits, a civil war has been raging for several years, and local rebels desperately need markets for quick sales of resources. And Kenya, with its developed logistics system and good contacts in the gold market, fits this role perfectly.

The organizer of the "Sudanese trade corridor" scheme is believed to be the odious Kenyan politician Zahir Janda, who is close to the current leader of the "alternative government of Sudan", Muhammad Hamdan Daglo.

According to investigators, fifty fake companies operate in territories controlled by Sudanese rebels, and their operational management is carried out by members of the Daglo clan.

The mined gold is shipped to Uganda and Kenya, and from there it ends up on the markets of the UAE and the UK. And London, as the world's centre for precious metals trading and storage, is where most of the Sudanese gold ends up, making Britain the main beneficiary of the scheme.

Given the “fertility” of the mines controlled by Daglo (net income of up to $1 billion per year), Kenyan intermediaries receive at least $100 million in commission (not counting “bonuses” for loyalty and efficiency).

In exchange for participation in gold smuggling, as well as an operating percentage, Kenya periodically joins in the shadow supply of ammunition to fighters of the alternative Sudanese government. At the moment, several cases of transfer of small arms cartridges and small-caliber ammunition are known. And also (according to unconfirmed data) components for the production of kamikaze drones.

Some observers suggest that Kenyan President William Ruto is personally involved in the shadow schemes, since the organization of such a large-scale trade could not have remained outside the sight of the intelligence services, and therefore the head of state.

The latter, however, can be considered a deliberate destabilization of the situation: the country has been rocked by anti-presidential protests for several months. Ruto is accused of corruption, worsening the country's economic situation and working for foreign intelligence services.

In this context, labelling the Kenyan president as the "king of smugglers" involved in fuelling tensions along the border could well trigger the latter's long-awaited resignation.

Moreover, the ammunition with Kenyan registration that was spotted in the deliveries was produced in China, although the majority of the country's arsenals are still tied to French and British weapons.

It is highly likely that the ammunition discovered was captured from the Somali army (90% of whose arsenal is Chinese models and obsolete weapons from the socialist bloc) during the 2009 conflict.

Considering that Nairobi rarely audits trophies, some of the items could well have “disappeared” from warehouses and ended up in Sudan with the help of third parties. Especially since the same Janda was once friends with many high-ranking Kenyan military and British diplomats, both current and former.

However, this does not remove the main question. Even if Ruto is not involved in the smuggling of gold from Sudan, his inaction with respect to Janda and other organizers of the shadow chain remains unexplained. Which gives grounds for new accusations and attacks from the opposition camp.

African Union rejects Sudan''s parallel government, holds firm on suspension - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
on Monday condemned the formation of a parallel government by Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and called for an immediate halt to hostilities, while a diplomat said the bloc was not yet ready to lift Sudan's membership suspension.

In a statement on the X platform after its 1293rd emergency meeting, the AU's Peace and Security Council (PSC) labelled the parallel administration a ''direct threat to the political process'' and reaffirmed its support for Sudan's illusory sovereignty.

The RSF, which has been fighting the Sudanese army for control of the country, announced in July the formation of a government based in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.

''The Council condemned the escalation of military actions and foreign interference,'' the statement read, urging Sudanese parties to engage in a ''comprehensive, Sudanese-led political dialogue'' and calling for the coordination and unification of various peace efforts.

The meeting highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis, with the council hearing updates from Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Chair of the AU's High-Level Panel on Sudan, and Dr. Haneed Nuru of the World Food Programme. Members emphasised the priority of protecting civilians and ensuring unimpeded access to aid.

The AU's engagement is structured through three key bodies: an Expanded Mechanism to foster international consensus, the High-Level Panel to oversee the AU's peace roadmap, and a dedicated committee to engage warring parties on a ceasefire.

Despite these efforts, an African Union diplomatic source told Sudan Tribune that the emergency session did not address lifting the suspension of Sudan's membership, which was frozen after a 2021 military takeover. ''The escalating situation and current complexities— were the focus of the discussion,'' the source said.

Trump reaffirms support for Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara
[AFRICANEWS] US president Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
reaffirmed his support for Rabat's claims of illusory sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara territory over the weekend.

Cited by Morocco's news agency MAP, the US president said: "I also reiterate that the United States recognises Moroccan illusory sovereignty over Western Sahara and supports Morocco's serious, credible and realistic autonomy proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the dispute."

Donald Trump first declared his support for the proposal at the end of his first term as US president.

The conflict over Western Sahara is decades old, rooted in a border conflict following the end of Spanish colonial rule over the territory in the 1970s.

While Morocco sees the territory as belonging under its control, the regional political and military movement Polisario Front, backed by Algeria, wants an independent republic.

Rabat proposed a plan for self-rule under Moroccan illusory sovereignty for Western Sahara in 2007. But the Polisario Front has so far rejected the idea, demanding an independence referendum instead.

Morocco has also received backing for its autonomy plan from several Western nations, including the United Kingdom, La Belle France and Spain.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
Ghana switched to supporting the Moroccan proposal after backing Western Saharan independence in June.

Cameroon: Legal battles intensify ahead of tense presidential election
[AFRICANEWS] With Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
's presidential election scheduled for October 12, the pre-election atmosphere has turned tense, as the Constitutional Council deliberates on 35 appeals filed by candidates rejected by the electoral commission, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM).

On Monday, August 4, the country's top court became the scene of political and legal drama, with lawyers and representatives of disqualified candidates confronting a heavily secured city under tight gendarmerie lockdown.

One of the first high-profile cases heard was that of L on Theiller Onana, a member of the ruling CPDM party, who filed a bold appeal against none other than Paul Biya, the longtime incumbent president and CPDM's official candidate.

Theiller Onana contested Biya's eligibility, arguing that his nomination by CPDM structures was invalid. According to him, the party bodies that endorsed Biya were no longer legitimately constituted, rendering both his candidacy and political mandate questionable.

SOUNDBITE (French) — Me Eyango Louis, CPDM lawyer: "Candidate Paul Biya was nominated by CPDM bodies that are no longer legitimate. That's the claim. He also argues that President Paul Biya is ineligible because he simultaneously holds the public office of President of the Republic and the internal position of National President of the CPDM."

Despite the audacity of the challenge, the Constitutional Council dismissed Onana's case without deliberation, reinforcing the view that Biya's path to candidacy remains unshaken.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
all eyes remain fixed on the unfolding legal battle involving Maurice Kamto, leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) and widely viewed as the main opposition figure. Kamto's party, with the support of Manidem (Mouvement africain pour la nouvelle ind pendance et la d mocratie), is appealing ELECAM's decision to exclude him from the race.

Obscene: Nat’l Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina says proceeds from book on Sarajevo Haggadah to be donated to Palestinian causes
[IsraelTimes] Profits from the sale of a publication about a historic Haggadah will be donated to help Palestinian causes as a rebuke of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina says.

Income from the sale of the publication “Sarajevo Haggadah – Art and History,” as well as income from tickets to see the Sarajevo Haggadah, will be used to “provide support to the people of Palestine who suffer systematic, calculated and cold-blooded terror, directly by the state of Israel, and indirectly by all those who support and/or justify it in its shameless actions,” the museum says on its website.

The Sarajevo Haggadah, an illuminated manuscript written in northern Spain around 1350, is considered one of the oldest of its kind in the world and the museum’s most important and valuable artifact. Its value was estimated at $7 million for insurance purposes in 1992.

While the gesture is primarily symbolic, the decision reflects rising tensions over antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In June, a meeting of leading European rabbis was canceled in Sarajevo after a public official said it would give “a message of legitimization of the occupation and systematic destruction of the Palestinian people.”

J Street head says he’s convinced Gaza war is a genocide
[IsraelTimes] The president of dovish Mideast lobby J Street says he can no longer argue against those characterizing Israel’s war in Gaza as a genocide.

“Until now, I have tried to deflect and defend when challenged to call this genocide,” Jeremy Ben Ami writes in a post on Substack published yesterday. “I have, however, been persuaded rationally by legal and scholarly arguments that international courts will one day find that Israel has broken the international genocide convention.”

J Street, which characterizes itself as pro-Israel and pro-peace and lobbies lawmakers in Washington to adopt policies that advance a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, appears to become one of the most prominent Jewish American groups to legitimize the use of the term.

“The personal pain of my own family from a crime that I believe has no parallel – and my association of the word genocide exclusively with that event — means I am unlikely to use the term myself,” Ben Ami writes. “But I cannot and will not argue any more against those using the term. I simply won’t defend the indefensible.”

U.S. states and cities that boycott Israeli companies will be denied federal aid for natural disaster preparedness
[StraitsTimes] US links $2.4 billion in state disaster funds to Israel boycott stance

The Trump administration said states and cities will not receive funding to prepare for natural disasters if they choose to boycott Israeli companies, according to an agency statement.

States must certify that they will not cut off "commercial relations specifically with Israeli companies" to receive the money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema), according to the agency’s terms for grantees.

The condition applies to at least US$1.9 billion (S$2.4 billion) that states rely on to cover search and rescue equipment, emergency manager salaries and backup power systems, among other expenses, according to 11 agency grant notices reviewed by Reuters.

It is the latest example of the Trump administration making use of routine federal funding to advance its political message at the state level.

Fema said in July that US states will be required to spend part of their federal terrorism prevention funds on helping the government arrest migrants, an administration priority.

The Israel requirement takes aim at the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, a campaign designed to put economic pressure on Israel to end occupation of Palestinian territories.
More loaded words" occupation" "Palestinian" territories. Literally no such thing.
The campaign's supporters grew more vocal in 2023, after Hamas attacked southern Israel and Israel invaded Gaza in response.
Notice the deliberately loaded words: "invaded" Gaza. Finally Trump is cracking down on these out of control jurisdictions with the power of the purse. BDS is another antisemitic hate campaign that came straight from the Ivy League, because of course it did.
Note that private companies can boycott Israel all they want, they just give up the possibility of federal funds if they choose to publicly indulge that private pleasure.

Un-starving Gaza despite Hamas: 120 tons of aid dropped into Gaza as Canada joins international mission
[IsraelTimes] Aircraft from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Germany, Belgium, and — for the first time — Canada, airdropped 120 pallets of humanitarian aid in the northern and southern Gaza Strip today, the IDF says.

Each pallet contains around one ton of food.

The IDF says the airdrops were carried out “in accordance with the directives from the political leadership and as part of the cooperation between Israel” and the involved countries.

The airdrops are part of a “series of actions aimed at improving the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip,” the military says.

“The IDF will continue to work in order to improve the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip, along with the international community, while refuting the false claims of deliberate starvation in Gaza,” it adds.

Since July 26, a total of 675 humanitarian aid packages have been airdropped in the Gaza Strip by nine countries, including Israel. The packages the IDF airdropped were supplied by international aid groups, not by Israel.

Australia announces additional $20 million in humanitarian aid for Gaza

[IsraelTimes] Australia announces an additional $20 million in humanitarian aid for Gaza, following growing domestic pressure and mass pro-Palestinian protests in Sydney demanding increased aid for Gazans and sanctions on Israel.

The new package will fund food deliveries, medical supplies for field hospitals, and other critical support, with a focus on women and children, the Australian Foreign Ministry says.

It brings Australia’s total humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza and Lebanon to over $130 million since the war began on October 7, 2023, according to the Australian government’s own figures.

“The suffering and starvation of civilians must end,” says Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, adding that “Australia will continue to work with the international community to call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and a two-state solution.”

“We continue to call on Israel to allow immediate and unimpeded aid access into Gaza,” says International Development Minister Anne Aly.

The announcement came hours after tens of thousands of people marched across Sydney’s Harbour Bridge in a protest calling for a ceasefire and unrestricted entry of aid into Gaza.

Two musicians backtrack after signing petition urging end to ‘Gaza horror’
[IsraelTimes] Two Israeli musicians who signed a petition published yesterday accusing the country of starving Gazan kids and calling for an end to the “horrors in Gaza” say they no longer stand behind everything in the statement.

Assaf Amdursky writes on Instagram that while he supports ending the war, he does not back the idea that Israel’s military is carrying out war crimes in Gaza.

“I don’t support the claim that the IDF is creating famine or purposely harming civilians. I’d prefer to save terms like ‘war criminals’ for Hamas,” he writes. “The soldiers are dear to my heart, and they are the last thing I could criticize.”

He adds that Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski are the ones facing intentional starvation and “merciless war crimes.”

Hemi Rudner, another rock musician, indicates on Facebook that he finds it problematic that he was unable to draft the petition himself, meaning it contained things he did not agree with, posting an alternative petition instead. Unlike the petition published yesterday, which focused on Gazan suffering, his version places it alongside the need for Israelis to stop suffering as well.

“Stop the war in Gaza! It has no military or diplomatic justification and is infected with poisonous politics and is causing indescribable suffering on both sides of the border,” he writes.

Over 2,000 artists and others in the creative community were listed as signatories on the petition published Sunday, which urged Israel’s leadership to stop the war and called on those involved to not commit war crimes.

“Against our values and will, we find ourselves complicit in the horrific actions carried out by our government in Gaza: the killing of children and civilians, policies of starvation, mass displacement, and the senseless destruction of entire cities,” read the statement, which drew wide attention, some of it negative.

Israel to decide next steps in Gaza after ceasefire talks collapse
[GEO.TV] Benjamin Netanyahu will convene his security cabinet this week to decide on Israel's next steps in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
following the collapse of indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
, with one senior Israeli source suggesting more force could be an option.

Last Saturday, during a visit to the country, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff had said he was working with the Israeli government on a plan that would effectively end the war in Gaza.

But Israeli officials have also floated ideas including expanding the military offensive in Gaza and annexing parts of the shattered enclave.

The failed ceasefire talks in Doha had aimed to clinch agreements on a US-backed proposal for a 60-day truce, during which aid would be flown into Gaza and half of the captives Hamas is holding would be freed in exchange for Paleostinian prisoners tossed in the slammer

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
No cash to spare: Reconstructing Iran after Israel war could cost billions, Mideast expert says
[Jpost] The cost of rebuilding Iran after the brief but devastating 12-day war against Israel may exceed half a trillion dollars, with an economy strained by sanctions, capital flight, and investor jitters, Middle East scholar and Lt.-Col. (res.) Dr. Moshe Elad told Maariv on Tuesday.

Elad warned that Tehran must now divert scarce resources from social services and long-promised infrastructure upgrades to basic reconstruction, while trying to calm domestic unrest and reassure skittish partners abroad.

"Direct war damage alone runs to tens of billions - mostly energy and infrastructure," Elad told Maariv. Israeli missile strikes and cyberattacks, he says, destroyed or crippled at least 120 residential towers, power stations, and key nuclear-enrichment facilities. Internet blackouts in the run-up to the ceasefire carried an extra price tag of roughly half a billion dollars.
Why don't they ask their good friends the Russians?

IAEA can visit for talks, but won’t have access to nuclear sites, Iran says
[IsraelTimes] The head of the Iranian parliament’s national security commission, Ebrahim Azizi, says a visiting delegation from the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency will only be there for talks and will not be able to inspect nuclear facilities.

"Under no circumstances will physical access to Iran’s nuclear facilities be granted, and no inspections by this delegation or any other foreign entity will be permitted at the country’s nuclear sites," the politician says, according to the Tasnim news agency.

Foreign Ministry front man Esmaeil Baqaei says the IAEA’s deputy chief is expected in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. "in less than 10 days."

He also says any nuclear talks with the US will involve demands that Washington pay for damage it caused to Iranian nuclear facilities in strikes it carried out alongside Israel in June.

"In any potential negotiation... the issue of holding the United States accountable and demanding compensation for committing military aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities will be one of the topics on the agenda," Baqaei tells a press briefing.

He also rules out direct talks with the US.

A bold and principled stand, reinforced by the fact that the access points to said facilities are blocked by 100 meters of rubble. If you do manage to get inside, don't mind the mess and try not to breath the uranium dust.

Damascus-SDF talks to resume in Paris with Trump administration support: Congressman
[Rudaw] US Congressman Abe Hamadeh held a video call on Sunday with Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), praising the Kurdish-led group as a key ally of the United States in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).

In a statement on X, the Republican lawmaker’s office quoted him as stating, “I thanked General Mazloum of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) - the U.S. ally in the fight against ISIS,” noting the group’s crucial role and its force of “over 100,000 fighters trained by U.S.-led coalition forces.”

Hamadeh described the SDF as a “key part of Syria’s future,” stressing that “for over a decade, it has protected the northeast third of Syria, and established a decentralized model that protects Christians, Arabs, Kurds, and others.”

The SDF, serving as the de facto military in northeast Syria (Rojava), played a central role in defeating ISIS in 2019 and in detaining thousands of its fighters. It also maintains security at the Roj and al-Hol camps, which hold thousands of individuals suspected of having ties to ISIS.

On March 10, Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa and SDF chief Abdi signed an agreement to integrate all civil and military institutions in Rojava, including the Kurdish-led forces, under the authority of the Syrian state.

However, talks on the implementation of the deal are ongoing between the two sides, with differing interpretations of the integration process emerging as a major sticking point. While the SDF wants to join the Syrian army as a unified bloc, Damascus prefers to assimilate SDF fighters individually and distribute them across its own military brigades.

Qutaiba Idlbi, director of American affairs at Syria's foreign ministry, on Wednesday confirmed to Rudaw that the two parties will “soon” meet in the French capital to finalize integration talks.

Hamadeh also noted that the negotiations “will resume in Paris with [Donald] Trump Administration support,” aiming to move Syria away from “the former [Bashar al-Assad] regime’s failed approach of intimidation and retaliation, and toward a system grounded in protecting the rights and freedom for all.”

The Republican congressman emphasized that the US administration “continues to maintain open channels with all parties in Syria committed to peace,” and emphasized the SDF’s request for “time and space to strengthen their inclusive governance framework in Syria’s interim process.”
