PHILIPPINES GOVERNMENT YET TO DECIDE ON HOSTING AFGHAN REFUGEES – Previously, a spokesman for the government in Manilla said that a decision to accept a US request to host as many as 50,000 Afghan refugees would be made by 17 July. The government announced it was still weighing the request and would not hold itself to any self-imposed deadline. Several in the Philippine government have questioned the validity of the US request and have stated concerns that some of the people it is being asked to host may not have been former US government employees. It is not clear if the program will proceed but there are rumors that some work was being done at a former US Air Base as well as rumors that additional US State Department personnel were either scheduled to arrive in the country or, were already present. There are also rumors that a massive financial incentive package is being discussed and some say the delay in the decision process is due to haggling over how much the US will pay for the cooperation.
PAKISTAN USING SOFTWARE AT HOTELS TO IDENTIFY SUSPECTED CRIMINALS – Hotel Eye, a software program that is activated when a guest checks into a hotel will instantaneously notify law enforcement of people who may be wanted for crimes. The system is linked to three federal databases (NADRA, PSRMS, and CRO) and is mandatory in some cities. The system uploads the Computerised National Identity Cards of guests (or passports) and cross-references the information with federal agencies. Prior to the adoption of Hotel Eye, the police would receive a list of guests on a weekly basis which hindered the timely apprehension of suspects. To date, the system has been responsible for the arrests of over 93 wanted criminals. Currently, the system is used in over 600 hotels across the country. It is not clear if the software is/can be used to track Afghan nationals. Since the system is tied to the NADRA database, we assume it is possible but have not yet had a report where it was used to arrest/detain an Afghan refugee.
GERMAN CITIZEN FROM AFGHANISTAN ARRESTED IN HAMBURG TRAIN STATION AFTER WEAPONS FOUND IN LUGGAGE – German police arrested a German citizen from Afghanistan after a routine check of his luggage showed he had several weapons packed in his bag. Among the weapons discovered were large machetes, knives, a hand axe, and a retractable baton. Authorities say the man was known to security officials and has been considered an Islamist threat. The man, who is twenty years old, is currently being held by authorities and a subsequent search of his home turned up several hard drives and USB sticks that were being reviewed.
‘LORD MILES’ UPDATE LANDS ON TWITTER – Someone claiming to be a friend of the British man who uses the name ‘Lord Miles’ and makes trips to dangerous locations put out a Twitter update claiming that the (reputedly) detained man has now spent four months in Taliban custody and is being treated well, has several servants, lots of movies on his laptop, and goes on picnics with the Taliban Government. The message contained a photo of the man with several Taliban security personnel giving a thumbs-up gesture. The post ends by saying the man ‘still loves Afghanistan’. My favourite Lord Miles is still Miles Vorkosigan.
HASIBA NOURI, AFGHAN SINGER WHO WAS SAID TO HAVE BEEN KILLED, APPEARS ON TWITTER – The artist posted a video on Twitter telling her fans that she was very much alive and the earlier reports about her death were incorrect. She attributed a picture that reportedly launched many of the rumors about her death was actually taken after an accident.
TALIBAN REQUESTS SHIITES OBSERVE MUHARRAM IN SELECT LOCATIONS – The Taliban have asked Shiite leaders to adhere to observing Muharram in a limited number of spaces. The Taliban leadership foresees potential security implications that could come from ISIS-K terror cells. While the Taliban didn’t specifically name ISIS-K as a threat, the message appears to be understood by the Shia community.
CONFLICT TRACKER Laghman: The National Battle Front group claimed to have assassinated the son of the Alishang district’s intelligence chief in the province. Jawzjan: Eyewitnesses reported that the house of the former provincial governor had been surrounded by GDI agents. It is not clear what prompted the security activity and no follow-up reporting has arrived.

TALIBAN MAY TARGET PANJSHIRIS IN KABUL – A letter that is purportedly a directive to Kabul-based Taliban security forces orders the targeting of Panjshiris in Kabul. The letter identifies an ‘alley’ in the 4th Police District as being home to several Panjshiri families and tells the group that clearing operations should commence there. The specific location was not provided in the letter.
ISIS-K THREATS DURING MUHARRAM – A source in Kabul says that intelligence gathered from a recent raid on an ISIS-K safe house indicates that a terror operation was being planned to disrupt the Muharram period and was aimed at Shiite worshippers. At-risk Afghans will likely see an increased security presence in many of the cities and particularly in areas where Shiites gather.
MONSOON RAIN EXPECTED FOR SINDH PROVINCE TODAY – Heavy rains were forecasted today in Karachi. The storm front is expected to lash the coastal areas for the next 3 to 4 days. No flood warnings have yet been issued but emergency managers are watching the forecast closely.
[GoobjoogNews] Somali government has condemned the week-long blockade by the murderous Moslem group al-Shabaab ...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa... in Baidoa amid fears that the move could escalate a humanitarian crisis in the southwestern region.
Villa Somalia chief of staff Hussein Sheikh Mohamud said the blockade was ’the last kicks of a dying horse’ and urged the people of Badoa and the entire South West state to ’unite against the group.’
Sources said al-Shabaab imposed the blockade on July 11 and has sustained its restrictions barring vehicles to and from the town. Traders have complained that supplies to the town have since ceased pushing food prices higher.
Baidoa is already struggling with an IDP crisis as more than one million people driven from their homes by hunger and al-Shabaab are pitched in make-shift tents across the city.
Al-Shabaab has maintained its grip in all three regions of South West state namely Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakool.
The blockade comes ahead of an expected second phase of the government-led operations against al-Shabaab focusing on the southern belt which covers South West and Jubaland states.

[Breitbart] Released from his prison sentence for supporting the Islamic State in 2018 and under tough legal controls preventing him from associating with suspected terrorists and from preaching until 2021, the infamous radical who calls for hardline Sharia for Britain has been arrested again.
Police investigating suspected terror offences arrested notorious hate preacher Anjem Choudary ...self-proclaimed holy man who used to work for Omar Mohammed Bakdri as spokesman for al-Muhajiroun. Anjem is a loathesome little attention prostitute who is to be heard cheering for the home team anytime anybody with a turban manages to slaughter a group of unarmed infidels. Anjem was born in the UK in 1967 and is, as you would expect, of Pakistaini descent. The Ghost of Dante is of the opinion that when he goes to hell his knees will be broken once a month. He was in jug for awhile for supporting the Islamic State... in a dawn raid at his East London home on Monday morning. A second man, who is a Canadian citizen, was arrested at Heathrow Airport as he arrived on a flight from Canada later that day.
A police statement said both were arrested “on suspicion of membership of a proscribed organisation” and are being held under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Per the government’s own summary of that law, “police officers have the power to arrest persons suspected of terrorism-related offences without a warrant. These arrest powers also allow the extended detention of persons beyond the maximum 4 days available under standard arrest powers, to a maximum of 14 days”.
Anjem Choudary, once a regular figure appearing in British media and well-known for his extremist Islamist views and calls for Sharia law to be enforced in the United Kingdom, was convicted in 2016 for urging Muslims to support the Islamic State in videos published online. Although he was sentenced to five and a half years, he was released less than halfway through his sentence.
As reported at the time, the short sentence was blamed on “lack of evidence” but the government said at the time of his 2018 release that he would be watched “like a hawk” by the security services to prevent his “deeply pernicious, destabilising influence” from spreading in the country again. At the time of his release, he was subjected to a wide range of restrictions including orders preventing him from speaking in public, restricted his internet and phone usage, and limited his personal contact with suspected extremists. As noted, these were said to be some of the most strict release conditions ever imposed on a prisoner in British legal history.
Choudary was even ordered to attend deradicalisation lessons, but as previous experience has shown, these can have limited impact. The ban on Choudary speaking in public was lifted in 2021.
[NPASyria] Ottoman Turkish authorities deported on Monday at morning 68 people, including women, to areas in Idlib, northwest Syria, through Bab al-Hawa border crossing with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... , without notifying their families residing in Turkey.
A source at the Bab al-Hawa crossing told North Press that the Ottoman Turkish authorities threw 68 Syrians into the square of the crossing, including 11 women, without notifying their families in Turkey of their arrest or deportation.
The source also stated that Ottoman Turkish authorities took their eye and hand prints, as well as all their identification papers, in order to prevent them from returning permanently to Turkey.
Reportedly, the Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 130 people to northern Syria on Sunday from Tel Abyad border crossing with Turkey, north of Raqqa, where Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA) are in control.
An opposition source told North Press that among those deported were about ten foreigners of different nationalities, including Afghans, where the SNA arrested some of them.
Sources pointed out that deportation operations have increased in pace during the past few days, most of which are from the crossings of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), in the countryside of Hasakah, northeast Syria, which are under the control of the SNA.
Since the beginning of July, the Ottoman Turkish authorities have launched a campaign against the Syrian refugees residing on its territory, especially in Istanbul, where activists say more than 800 people have been deported since the beginning of July.

[Rudaw] Ottoman TurkishArclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s have caused a massive fire on the slopes of Mount Metina in Duhok province’s Amedi district, near the Ottoman Turkish border. The fire has been ongoing over the past two days.
Tens of acres of land between the villages of Barchi, Goharze, Balava, Deraluk, and the town of Amedi, have caught fire.
"When I woke up in the morning, I heard a voice. I looked at the mountain because every day there are planes overhead and artillery shells in the mountains, but I saw no smoke in the sky, so my brother went downstairs and saw smoke rising," Najib Nheli, a veteran Peshmerga fighter from Amedi, told Rudaw’s Naif Ramadhan.
"The bombing continues and when they bombard, fires will be everywhere, and authorities do not allow people to go because it is dangerous in all directions," he added.
Amedi's civil defense teams were not able to reach the scene of the fire due to fears of possible repeated bombardments.
Locals and villagers attempted to take matters into their own hands to put out the giant blaze that dealt a huge blow to their farmlands, but they were unsuccessful due to the lack of equipment to extinguish the fire.
"We went to control the fire but it was very difficult to get it out of control again because it is a mountainous area full of trees and plants," said Fayaq Balavai, a resident.
The fire burnt hundreds of trees in the area which are between 5-100 years old.
Ottoman Turkish forces frequently carry out military assaults in the Kurdistan Region, targeting suspected Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in the mountains where the group has its headquarters.
The PKK is an gang that for decades has fought for greater Kurdish political and cultural rights in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... . Ankara has designated it a terror organization.
Amedi district's outlying mountainous regions saw similar bombings in early June by Turkey.
Civilians are frequently caught in the crossfire. Dozens have been killed and hundreds of villages have been emptied.

[IsraelTimes] Terror group responds by calling for demonstrations across West Bank against ’treacherous’ Ramallah
Paleostinian Authority security forces carried out a raid against Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... on Sunday night in the town of Jaba, some 25 kilometers (16 miles) south of Jenin, according to reports from the terror group.
Five members were reportedly detained, including a commander and a former commander of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an gang linked to the PA’s ruling Fatah party.
The arrests seemed to indicate that the PA was continuing its crackdown on the organization, following arrests it carried out during and immediately after the Israeli operation in Jenin two weeks ago.
In a series of statements, the al-Quds Brigades, the local branch of Islamic Jihad, harshly condemned the PA campaign against its members, calling it a "morally unacceptable crime" and a "real threat to our struggle and the blood of our deaders."
The terror group claimed that the PA was doing the work of Israel and that the two entities were "two faces of the same coin," keeping the Paleostinian people under "two occupations."
In another operation the previous night, the PA reportedly arrested the uncle and cousin of 17-year-old Majdi al-Ararawi, one of the 13 button men killed by the IDF in the Jenin operation.
Islamic Jihad also reported that two of its members detained by the PA have started a hunger strike. They were arrested by the PA on the night of July 3, as they were on their way to fight in Jenin during the IDF operation.
The two men, Murad Walid Malayshe (34) and Muhammad Walid Barahme (37), spent over 10 years in Israeli prisons for terror-related activities and are among "the most wanted by Israel," according to the Paleostinian website Palinfo. They are currently being detained in a PA prison in Jericho.
The Jenin Battalion, another local faction affiliated with Islamic Jihad, called for demonstrations in all major West Bank cities Monday night to protest the "political arrests" by the "treacherous Paleostinian Authority." The PA responded by deploying security forces, armored vehicles and snipers, according to videos circulating on Paleostinian social media.
Based on reports in Paleostinian news outlets and on Islamic Jihad’s Telegram channel, it appeared that only in Jenin did people actually take to the streets in large crowds.
Israel carried out the major Jenin operation on July 3-4 to crack down on what it said was a hotbed of terror in the city. Multiple attacks on Israelis in recent years have been carried out by Paleostinians from the area, and observers say the Paleostinian Authority has little control on the ground.
Paleostinian health officials said 13 people were killed, and at least 100 others were maimed. All of the slain Paleostinians were involved in the fighting, but there were some noncombatants among the maimed, according to the IDF.
In a Monday phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.... hailed the PA’s effort to restore security control over Jenin and other areas of the West Bank as steps that boost prospects for a two-state solution.
[IsraelTimes] Vandals also spray graffiti in Abu Ghosh against the recent detention of several far-right Jewish suspects over West Bank settler rioting
Suspects torched cars and caused other property damage in an Arab town near Jerusalem early Monday, in what police were investigating as a hate crime.
According to police, four vehicles were set alight in Abu Ghosh. No one was injured in the blazes.
The suspects also sprayed graffiti on a nearby wall reading "price tag" and "30 days [of] administrative detention." The former term is used for vandalism that settler Death Eaters commit as ostensible Dire Revenge for actions and policies they oppose, while the latter is a controversial practice by Israeli authorities of holding suspects without charge.
Administrative detention, which is predominantly used against Paleostinians, has recently been applied to several Jewish Israelis for their suspected involvement in recent West Bank settler rampages, in a move decried by far-right coalition leaders.
Police said a helicopter was assisting in the search for suspects and that officers were gathering evidence in Abu Ghosh, which has long been known for its friendly ties with Jews and as a premier hummus destination.
"The investigation is continuing," said a statement from police.
While vandalism by Jewish Death Eaters is a common occurrence in Paleostinian villages in the West Bank, it occurs much less frequently in Arab Israeli communities.
Arrests of perpetrators are exceedingly rare and rights groups lament that convictions are even more unusual, with the majority of charges in such cases being dropped.
The vandalism in Abu Ghosh came amid a rise in settler violence since a Paleostinian terror attack last month outside the Eli settlement in which four Israelis were shot to death by Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terrorists.
Afterwards, hundreds of settlers rampaged in Paleostinian towns and villages for five days, setting fire to homes and cars, and even opening fire in some cases. One Paleostinian was killed in unclear circumstances.
The riots have been condemned by politicians, including some from the hardline right-wing coalition, but there has been little clear-cut condemnation from settlement leaders.
The government has pledged to hold those behind the settler rampages accountable. Two suspects have since been charged in the rioting. Five Israelis have been held under administrative detention for their involvement. Hundreds were filmed taking part in the attacks.
[IsraelTimes] Three more settler youths suspected of involvement in last month’s settler rampages in Paleostinian towns were placed under administrative detention, according to the right-wing legal aid group Honenu.
Honenu says the three were arrested by the Shin Bet and police in the early hours of the morning and have not been brought before a court.
Army Radio says Defense Minister Yoav Gallant signed off on administrative detention orders for the three youths, bringing the total held for the attacks to eight.
The report says one of the suspects is an IDF soldier and another recently completed his service.
In the wake of the Eli terror attack on June 20, hundreds of settlers rampaged in Paleostinian towns and villages for five days, setting fire to homes, cars, and even opening fire in some cases.
One riot in the village of Turmus Ayya, during which a Paleostinian was killed and 12 others were maimed, involved arson, vandalism and live fire. Earlier this year, there was a brutal rampage in the Paleostinian village of Huwara, also following a deadly Paleostinian terror attack.
[NPASyria] Militants of the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), cut down on Sunday dozens of trees in Afrin region in northwest Syria.
Afrin Post, a local news website, reported that the SNA snuffies cut down more than 20 olive and fruit trees near al-Zaydiyah neighborhood in the city of Afrin. The trees are owned by Imad Hussein, a Kurdish citizen from the village of Khalnereh, north of Afrin.
Afrin has been under the occupation of the Ottoman Turkish forces and their affiliated SNA since March 2018 following the so-called "Olive Branch" military operation to push away the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of protecting "Ottoman Turkish national security."
The operation caused the displacement of about 300,000 of the original inhabitants of the Kurds of Afrin who have been taking shelter in 42 villages and five camps in Aleppo northern countryside, locally known as Shahba region, since then.
After the occupation of Afrin, thousands of trees have been cut down by the SNA factions, according to press and human rights ...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state... reports.
On July 7, snuffies of the Suqour Hayyan faction cut down 70 olive trees of Jihad Mannan Habib, who is one of the original people of the Kurds of Afrin and lives in the village of Bulbul, north of Afrin city.

Not just 'trees' ... cut down 70 olive trees. You plant an olive tree sapling so your grandchildren can harvest the olives! There are very good reasons why the bent olive branch wreath is a sign of peace. This is an act that will engender hostility for a long, long time.

Ever since Turkey invaded the Syrian borderlands, Turkish forces have been cutting down olive trees and destroying everything else to make the area uninhabitable to the native Kurd and tribal residents, while building new towns in which to rehouse the Syrian refugees who fled to since 2011.
[NPASyria] An attack on a patrol of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Palmyra, in the Syrian Desert, caused material and logistical losses to the patrol on Sunday.
A military source from the IRGC told North Press that unknown button men targeted their patrol with machine guns at the entrance to the city of Palmyra.
The targeting resulted in the burning of a car carrying logistical materials and another carrying fuel, while the faceless myrmidons fled to a nearby base on the outskirts of Palmyra, the source added.
The patrol consisted of two four-wheel drive vehicles and two small pickup trucks carrying logistical materials and fuel, and were headed to IRGC posts in the Palmyra desert.
The Iranian-backed militias and Syrian government forces control vast swathes of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which witness increasing activity by Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) sleeper cells and bad boys.
Since 2017, the Syrian government forces have been scouring the desert in response to ISIS increasing practices that have caused the forces massive human and material losses.

[NPASyria] On Monday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS) handed over foreign bully boy fighters to the Ottoman Turkish intelligence through Bab al-Hawa border crossing in northern Idlib, after detaining them for about eight months.
A security source at Bab al-Hawa crossing told North Press, "One of the detainees is a French national who was among the ranks of the Firqat al-Ghuraba, and name is Philippe Ousson, currently known as Abdul Wadoud. The other is Sudanese. They were transferred this afternoon from Prison 106 in the city of Sarmada to the Bab al-Hawa crossing, where the handover process to the Ottoman Turkish side took place."
He added that the handover came at the request of the Ottoman Turkish side, and under the supervision of Abu Maria al-Qahtani, the head of HTS’ General Security Apparatus.
The source stated that the handover of imported muscle continues in coordination between the HTS and the Ottoman Turkish intelligence without knowing their fate and the reason behind these handover operations.
Previously, the HTS’ General Security handed over dozens of foreign leaders belonging to al-Qaeda and other radical groups to the Ottoman Turkish intelligence through the Bab al-Hawa crossing.
[NPASyria] Two Syrians were maimed and four others were arrested on Monday by Ottoman Turkish border guards while trying to cross the border into The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... from the village of Khirbat al-Jouz, northwestern Idlib, northwest Syria.
A source told North Press, "Ottoman Turkish border guards shot two people and arrested four other Syrians while trying to cross the border into Turkey."
He added that one of the maimed, Ali al-Hamoud, 32, who has bone marrow cancer, had previously attempted to cross legally seeking treatment but met with refusal. As a result, he resorted to smuggling, but the Ottoman Turkish border guards targeted him along with another young man from a nearby observation point.
The source pointed out that the border guards also arrested four people, including a woman, adding they were taken to a detention center on the border, amid fears for their lives from Dire Revenge or torture as happened earlier with other Syrians who tried to cross illegally.
