[Epoch Times] A sheriff in Virginia has switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican due to rhetoric expressed by certain Democratic politicians.
Smyth County Sheriff Chip Shuler, who was elected as a Democrat in 2015, said in a statement that he’s switching parties because, according to him, police officers have faced attacks from Democrat politicians in Virginia and nationwide.
"I am changing to the Republican Party because of the relentless attack on law enforcement by Democrats in Richmond and Washington," Shuler said in his statement last week. "My deputies work hard to serve and protect the citizens of Smyth County. As sheriff, it has been difficult to watch my deputies try to move forward during this unprecedented assault on our profession. We remain an honorable profession, and should not be judged by the bad acts of a few. I have always been a conservative throughout my law enforcement career of 38 years." Amen to that, brother.
Shuler is now the third sheriff in Virginia to make the switch in the past year or so, according to the chairman of Smyth County Republican Party, Adam Tolbert. He noted that Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt and Buchanan County Sheriff John McClanahan switched to the GOP several months ago.
"I’m not saying our locally elected Democratic officials are bad. What has upset me is on the state and national level," he said at the time, according to local media. "I think our locally elected Democrats truly care for our people in Tazewell County, but the ones in the state and national level do not care about our citizens.

Did a while back in my county, just after the election. Sheriff wasn't up or isn't up for reelection for 2 years after that. Said the Donks were not the party of law and order. BTW, the county declared itself a 2d Amendment sanctuary last year as well.

Democrats used to idolize him. I remember Senator Bill Bradley in a debate with Gore saying that Wilson was his hero for being able to see around corners.
Democrats used to also have Jefferson-Jackson day celebrations.

The ransomware attack on a US subsidiary of Brazilian-owned JBS has again prompted accusations that Russia is at least harboring cybercriminals.
Similar suspicions were raised after ransomware hackers forced the temporary shutdown of the huge Colonial fuel pipeline in the eastern United States last month.
Asked if Putin is testing him ahead of their summit, Biden said "no."
The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday attributed the attack to "REvil and Sodinokibi," which experts have said are two names for the same hacking group with ties to Russia, and said it was "working diligently to bring the threat actors to justice."
"We continue to focus our efforts on imposing risk and consequences and holding the responsible cyber actors accountable," the FBI said in a statement.

I could suggest a few retaliatory measures. First would be to block an entire range of Russian IP addresses from access to the US network. There are firewalls that can do that and I've suggested it many times in the past. Block a range of IP addresses and, if the attacks continue, block another range and then keep blocking until the attacks stop.
But this ignores the larger question which is: If we have so little control over our internet users that we can't mandate stricter security measures, how much control do you suppose Putin has? He is the ruler of a backward country and it is probably a huge mistake to assume that he can control the cyber criminals.
Another question is why are we busting Putin's balls when Xi is just as bad if not worse?

Tlaib’s bank questioning appears to be a precursor to introducing regulation to micromanage which companies get loans.

"There’s been a long history of Black people and Jewish sisters and brothers working together on a whole range of concerns," Warnock is quoted as saying by NJ.com.
The idea of convening the politicians was spurred by reports of rising antisemitism amid a national reckoning around racial injustice.
"We will be fighting both racism and anti-Semitism," Blumenthal says. "I think we’re in the midst of a racial justice moment and a reckoning now that could draw us together."
Scott Richman, director of the Anti-Defamation League in New York/New Jersey, praises the initiative.
"This would be an important step towards bringing together two communities with a shared commitment to justice and an end to bias and bigotry," he tells NJ.com.
A similar body, called the Congressional Caucus on Black-Jewish Relations, already exists in the House of Representatives.
Booker, who keeps a Hebrew Bible on his Senate desk, has a long history of connections with the Jewish community. He often cites Torah passages and recites Hebrew quotes in public appearances.
That no doubt dates back to his membership in Oxford University’s L’Chaim Society, an interfaith dinner and debating society hosted by Chabad’s Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, of which Senator Booker was co-president when he was there on a Rhodes scholarship. The two fell out over the honourable senator’s support for President Obama’s Iran deal, which the rabbi bitterly describes as genocidal.

The Black Hebrew Israelites movement has a history of street harassment of Jews, women and white people. According to the ADL, the movement’s “core principles” include “the beliefs that white people are agents of Satan, Jews are liars and false worshipers of God, and Blacks are the true ‘chosen people.'” Though some Black Hebrew Israelites are not overtly racist or anti-Semitic, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there is “a rising extremist sector within the movement.”
The stabbing of five Orthodox in Jews in Monsey last Chanukah, which resulted in the death of one victim, was perpetrated by a man believed to be linked to Black Hebrew Israelism. And the perpetrators of the December 2019 attacks at a kosher market in Jersey City, where four people were killed, were also linked to the Black Hebrew Israelite movement.
The ADL’s fact sheet on the group notes: “It should be emphasized that the extremist and anti-Semitic sects of Black Hebrew Israelites are unrelated to the thousands of black Jews and other Jews of color in the US, who are genuine members of the Jewish faith. Furthermore, they should not be confused with Ethiopian Jews who mostly live in Israel today.”

[NJ] In a major setback for state prosecutors, the bribery and corruption case against Jason O’Donnell, a former Democratic politician who was running for mayor in Bayonne, was thrown out of court Thursday after a judge found the candidate had committed no crime.
The judge dismissed the indictment because she said O’Donnell had no power to make any promises in return for a $10,000 cash payment he allegedly accepted from an informant during an undercover sting operation.
"Jason O’Donnell had nothing to offer him," said Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez, noting that he was not a public official at the time. "I think you need more than mere words."
The Attorney General’s office said it plans to appeal.
"We strongly disagree with today’s decision, which, if upheld, effectively legalizes bribing candidates for public office," said Peter Aseltine, a front man for the office. "We do not think this is what the Legislature had in mind when drafting this law and we look forward to appealing this ruling once we receive the written opinion."
The state has 45 days to appeal.
O’Donnell was charged more than a year ago with four other political candidates and officials who were accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions and cash payoffs from a Morristown attorney seeking promises of lucrative tax and real estate work.

[BREITBART] The U.S. government should import foreign workers for home construction jobs and also pay them with shares of American citizenship, an industry executive demanded Wednesday at an advocacy event held by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
"We, right now, this year, need 430,000 workers [and] over the next couple years by 2023, we’re going to need probably another million," said Michael Bellaman, the president and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors trade group. He continued:
We need a merit-based, market-based, rule-of-law worker visa system that provides the necessary opportunities for [foreign] people that want to work in the United States, as well as for our employers to take those trained [foreign] individuals that have spent three years [working] in their companies, with the opportunity to sponsor them to a pathway to citizenship, a legal form of status, something more permanent, that will be a value to our industry.
The demand is a deep betrayal of fellow Americans by the business interests, responded Roy Beck, the former journalist who founded NumbersUSA to oppose the outsourcing of jobs to migration.
"There’s an ethical bond that connects" Americans, he said, "but what people from George Bush, especially George W. American workers have been hard hit by the eagerness of construction CEOs to hire low-wage crews of economic migrants colonists. In March 2018, Breitbart News reported:
