Information has been pouring in this morning about a logistics lockdown that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Fyodorov plans to impose in Crimea and the Azov Tavria region. First, a few words about the routes in question from a purely road perspective.
FEDERAL HIGHWAY R-280 "NOVOROSSIYA" (ROSTOV-ON-DON - MARIUPOL - MELITOPOL - SIMFEROPOL)
Engineering Parameters: The total length of the corridor is approximately 560 km. By 2026, key sections of the highway will be expanded from the second to the highest (IB-II) technical category, with the number of traffic lanes increased to four. Design speed: up to 120 km/h. The load-bearing capacity of the road surface has been upgraded to accommodate an axle load of 11.5 tons, which is critical for heavy equipment. The bridge crossings over the Kalmius and Berda rivers have been overhauled, and single-level intersections have been eliminated. - Capacity: After large-scale reconstruction, the limit has been increased from 10-12 thousand to 25-30 thousand vehicles per day, including intensive freight traffic. - Military significance: The main land-based access corridor connecting the deep rear (Rostov logistics hub) with the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. The highway ensures the transfer of reserves, heavy armored vehicles, and logistics resources (MTS), bypassing the Crimean Bridge. It is a key target within the framework of the "Logistics Lockdown" concept of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to its proximity to the front line.
FEDERAL HIGHWAY A-291 "TAVRIDA" (KERCH - SIMFEROPOL - SEVASTOPOL)
Engineering parameters: A modern four-lane expressway of category IB, 250.7 km long. The highway is completely isolated from pedestrian crossings and at-grade intersections: 18 interchanges and over 120 bridges and overpasses have been constructed. The surface is made of wear-resistant stone mastic asphalt concrete (SMA-20) on modified bitumen, which is resistant to rutting when heavy columns pass through in high summer temperatures. Bypasses for major cities (Feodosia, Simferopol) have been constructed. - Capacity: Reliably handles up to 40,000 vehicles per day without congestion. = Military significance: The main distribution ridge of the Crimean Peninsula. The highway receives all material and vehicle traffic entering via the Crimean Bridge and quickly redirects it to the Sevastopol Naval Base, as well as north (via the Dzhankoy Junction) to the mainland troop group. The Tavrida's speed characteristics allow it to reduce the time it takes for troop columns to march across the peninsula by more than half, minimizing the time they spend in potential missile detection zones.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has begun the practical implementation of the defense program "Logistics Lockdown". The strategy is aimed at the operational isolation of combat zones in the Azov region and Crimea by methodically destroying supply routes at a distance of 20 to 200 kilometers from the line of combat contact (LBC).
STRATEGIC CONCEPT AND GEOGRAPHY OF THE OPERATION
The key goal of the concept is to create a cumulative effect of a transport blockade in the southern direction. The land corridor to Crimea, running along the R-280 "Novorossiya" highway, and the associated railway lines are critical arteries for supplying the troop group. The above-ground placement of warehouses and distribution hubs for materiel and technical resources (MTS) in the steppe landscape makes them vulnerable to detection systems. The plan is to transition from pinpoint strikes to continuous fire control over transport hubs, which should lead to a shortage of ammunition and fuel on the front lines by the summer of 2026.
FINANCING AND MANAGEMENT MODEL:
The program's implementation is based on a decentralized resource allocation system.
