Manning, a Democratic Senatorial candidate, posted what appeared to be a suicide note on Twitter around 8:30 PM on Sunday.
Chelsea tweeted, "I’m sorry ‐ I tried ‐ I’m sorry I let you all down ‐ I’m not really cut out for this world ‐ I tried adapting to this world out here but I failed you ‐ I couldn’t do this anymore ‐ I can take people I don’t know hating me but not my own friends ‐ I tried and I’m sorry about my failure"

...Although it's not a 'always-happens', suicidal thoughts and actions are a serious problem in the trans community...because it's a hell of a shock to discover that you've gone through all that, only to find that it didn't make your life perfect, and in fact just made it more difficult.
And ol' Chelsea wasn't the most stable little thing to begin with.

As I recall, there is no significant difference between the rates of anxiety, depression, and attempted/completed suicide among those in the trans community who have gone through the surgery and hormones and those who remain comoletely as nature made them. And, as Dr. Paul McHugh of Johns Hopkins Medical School wrote a few years ago, after having studied the issue for forty years,
Ten to fifteen years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to twenty times that of comparable peers.

A talented writer named Jerzy Kosinsky had an interesting story about the struggles trannies face in a very weird book titled "Blind Date."
Unrelated to the subject of this comment, Kosinsky's novel "Being There," which was adapted to film, uncannily predicted the presidency of Barack Obama.

Sad our society has branded as hatred any attempts to actually help the trans community work through the underlying problems. Just accept and blame society for the high suicide rates among the trans community.

"This does not sound like the kind of person that you would want to engage in some kind of complicated Manchurian Candidate ... the guy can’t even remember what he was going to say at the end of a sentence."
