Sudan reports surge in cholera cases amid Khartoum water crisis
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported a surge in cholera cases in Omdurman's Karrari locality and Jabal Awliya, south of Khartoum.

Large areas of Khartoum State are experiencing a severe water supply crisis. The crisis worsened after the Rapid Support Forces shelled three power stations in Omdurman on May 14, leading to power outages in the capital.

Khartoum residents are being forced to use water from unsafe sources, such as shallow wells or direct extraction from the Nile, contributing to the widespread outbreak of diseases.

The Ministry of Health's Emergency Operations Centre said in a statement that ''2,323 new cholera cases have been recorded, including 51 deaths over three weeks, 90% of which were identified in Khartoum State, especially Karrari and Jebel Aulia.''

The ministry also stated that Sudan faces other health threats, including dengue fever, malaria, hepatitis, measles, and diphtheria, with varying infection and fatality rates across the states.

Sudanese army unearths mass graves in Omdurman, 465 victims found
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese army on Thursday reported the discovery of mass graves containing the remains of 465 victims of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in southern Omdurman, Khartoum State.

This marks the second-largest mass grave discovery by the army, following the unearthing of at least 550 bodies in northern Khartoum Bahri in March. That previous site was near a compound used by the RSF for imprisonment and torture.

In a statement received by Sudan Tribune, the army said it ''found mass graves in the al-Salha area, south of Omdurman, containing the bodies of 465 people who died due to neglect, lack of food, treatment, and medicine.'' It further clarified that some of the discovered graves held as many as 27 bodies each.

The al-Salha area, part of the Omdurman locality, has been under RSF control since the military conflict began on April 15, 2023.

The army stated that the RSF had detained 648 citizens and retired regular forces personnel, holding them in inhumane conditions inside a school in al-Salha. Of these, 465 ''were martyred and buried in mass graves,'' while the remainder were released after the area was recaptured.

Boko Haram informants among politicians, soldiers
[VANGUARDNGR] Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, alleged yesterday that some politicians and members of the armed forces act as informants and collaborators for Boko Haram

holy warriors.

The governor, who made the allegation in an interview on News Central's Breakfast programme, also said the Nigerian Army lacks requisite equipment to fight terrorists, noting that devoid of politics, Boko Haram can be wiped out in six months.

Zulum spoke on a day Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, said some of the holy warriors and bandidos terrorising the country are not Nigerians, even as the Senate warned that insurgency could spread to other parts of the North, if it was not checked now.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
efforts by Vanguard to get the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, to respond to the allegations proved abortive as his phone line repeatedly said the owner was unavailable.

Messages sent to him on his Whatsapp line were also not responded to.
But speaking during the interview, the Borno governor vowed that the state will strengthen its intelligence network and deal with saboteurs ''ruthlessly.''

He said: ''We have informants and collaborators within the Nigerian armed forces, among politicians, and within the communities. What we shall do is strengthen our intelligence and deal with them ruthlessly.

''Let's remove contractocracy. In six months, we can put an end to this madness; we need not politicise insecurity.''

hard boyz from 19 to 20 May. The assault occurred in Kerawa, a locality on the border with Nigeria, within the Kolofata sub-division of the Mayo-Sava division in the Far North region.

A member of the local vigilante committee said the assailants, who came from Nigeria, targeted a Cameroonian military post. ''After opening fire on the post, the assailants quickly fled towards the Nigeria-Cameroon border,'' he stated.

The recent attack highlights an alarming trend, as Boko Haram hard boyz have become more aggressive since March, utilising previously unseen sophisticated weaponry during their operations. Notably, one major incident occurred on the night of March 24 to 25, 2025, in Wulgo, in the Logone-et-Chari division, where 12 Cameroonian soldiers bit the dust.

This week's deadly assault serves as a reminder that, despite claims of a retreat by the terrorists, the threat they pose remains constant within the Lake Chad Basin. Even with strong responses from the Cameroonian army, Boko Haram continues to conduct violent mostly peaceful operations, instilling fear and destabilising the border areas with Nigeria. This comes despite repeated assertions from the military that they have broken the back of Boko Haram in the region.

As part of its intensified violent mostly peaceful campaign, Boko Haram/ISWAP increased the deployment of improvised bombs (IEDs) along critical highways in the Lake Chad region, especially in Nigeria. Over the past month, numerous IED detonations occurred, resulting in casualties among both civilians and security forces.

Recent developments have seen two significant bridges — one in the Gujiba local government area of Yobe State and the other in the Biu local government area of Borno State — damaged by IED blasts attributed to the terrorist group. These incidents have significantly disrupted mobility, making entire routes perilous and putting commuters at heightened risk of attacks, particularly in resettled communities that are already unstable.

The destruction of these essential infrastructures also threatens humanitarian efforts and the region's economic stability. Human rights groups, humanitarian organizations, and local media have cautioned for months that resettling populations without adequate security measures may expose them to reprisals and further displacement.

Army top brass vows to decimate India-backed terrorist proxies with ''full force''
[GEO.TV] A day after a blast in Khuzdar martyred six people, including four children, the military's top brass has vowed to dismantle and decimate all proxies and controllers of terrorism with unrelenting resolve, according to a statement issued by the military's media wing on Thursday.

"These hostile elements, trained and financed to incite chaos and fear, will be dismantled and decimated with full force of national will and institutional strength."

The statement came after Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir chaired the 270th Corps Commanders' Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.

The ISPR said the top commanders' meeting commenced with Fateha for the deaders of Bunyan-um-Marsoos, and the heinous terrorist attack in Khuzdar, Balochistan

Israeli settlers have attacked the outskirts of the Paleostinian town of Burqin
[GEO.TV] Israeli settlers have attacked the outskirts of the Paleostinian town of Burqin, in the north of the occupied West Bank, setting fire to several houses and vehicles and wounding several people, Al Jazeera reported, citing a report from the Wafa news agency.

The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy Society said it treated eight burn victims from the blazes.

Local sources told Wafa that a group of settlers, under the protection of Israeli military forces, attacked the al-Buq'an area of the town, burning about five homes and five vehicles belonging to residents.

's entire territory is now within Israeli-declared "militarised zones" or is subject to forced displacement orders by Israeli forces, Al Jazeera reported citing the latest UN situation report on the war-torn territory.

The UN human rights

office has also identified an "escalating pattern" of Israeli strikes on crowded hospitals, residential buildings and tent shelters in Gaza, as well as the "methodical destruction of entire neighbourhoods" in the territory.

According to the situation report, the intensified Israeli assault on Gaza — since the recent launch of the "Gideon's Chariots" military campaign — has been carried out with "little, if any, care — to protect the lives of civilians in Gaza".

"The use of weapons with wide area effects suggest deliberate, indiscriminate attack," according to the UN human rights office.

Israeli drone strikes kill two in Ain Baal, Yater
[NAHARNET] Israeli strikes on two different locations in south Leb

killed two people Wednesday, the latest attacks despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

An Israeli enemy drone struck a car in the southern town of Ain Baal in the coastal district of Tyre and few hours later another drone targeted a car in the southern town of Yater.

The Israeli army said its forces struck a Hezbollah operative in the Tyre area, saying he was "responsible for establishing the necessary infrastructure for the production of precise surface-to-surface missiles in the area".

The health ministry later said an Israeli strike on the southern town of Yater "killed one person and maimed another".

An official from Yater said the strike killed a man who was using a bulldozer to remove debris from his home which was damaged during the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the state-run National News Agency reported.

It was the third consecutive day of Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Israel said it killed two Hezbollah members over the past two days.

An Israeli quadcopter also dropped Wednesday four bombs on the al-Ain area east of the southern town of Kfarshouba.

Israel has kept up strikes on Lebanon despite the November truce that sought to halt more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah including two months of full-blown war.

The ceasefire agreement states that only U.N. peacekeepers and the Lebanese Army should be deployed in the south, though Israel has retained troops in five areas it deems strategic.

Lebanon has called on the international community to pressure Israel to end its attacks and withdraw its remaining troops.

Deputy U.S. Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus said on Tuesday that Lebanon still has "more" to do in disarming Hezbollah following the war.

Report: Hamas and Islamist leaders to leave Lebanon for Qatar and Turkey
[NAHARNET] Wednesday's talks between President Joseph Aoun and Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

on all levels, especially as to the issue of chaos, arms proliferation and the transformation of some camps into havens for outlaws,'' al-Binaa newspaper reported on Thursday.

Amid reports that the Hamas

...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. Aoun and Abbas met in Baabda on Wednesday and backed placing all weapons under Lebanese state control, as they discussed efforts to disarm gangs in Paleostinian refugee camps.

A joint statement from the Lebanese presidency said the two leaders shared the "belief that the era of weapons outside Lebanese state control has ended" and backed the principle that arms should be held exclusively by the state.

Abbas' three-day trip is his first to Lebanon since 2017.

The country hosts about 222,000 Paleostinian refugees, according to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
agency UNRWA, many living in overcrowded camps beyond state control.

A Lebanese government source said Abbas' visit aimed to set up a mechanism to remove weapons from the camps. The source requested anonymity as they were not allowed to brief the media.

The statement said the two sides agreed "to form a joint Lebanese-Paleostinian committee to follow up on the situation of Paleostinian camps in Lebanon and work on improving the living conditions of refugees, while respecting Lebanese illusory sovereignty and committing to Lebanese laws."

By longstanding convention, the Lebanese Army stays out of the Paleostinian camps, where Abbas' Fatah, its rival Hamas and other gangs handle security.

Hamas claimed attacks on Israel from Lebanon during more than a year of hostilities involving its Lebanese ally Hezbollah. The festivities, sparked by the Gazoo

war, largely subsided after a truce in November.

"The monopoly of weapons should be in the hands of the state," Aoun said in an interview with Egyptian channel ON TV on Sunday.

The army, he added, had dismantled six Paleostinian military training camps -- three in Bekaa, one south of Beirut and two in the north -- and seized weapons.

Under the November ceasefire agreement, the army has also been dismantling bad boy group Hezbollah's infrastructure in the country's south.
