[BREITBART] The criminal hacking group that reportedly goes by the name DarkSide and attacked the largest gasoline pipeline in the United States has now put out an apology of sorts.
The Colonial Pipeline, which snakes 5,500 miles along the eastern U.S., transports 2.5 million barrels of gasoline a day, and provides 45 percent of the region’s fuel consumption, was shut down on Friday in response to the hacking.
Vice reported on the hackers’ odd statement posted on the "dark web":
"We are apolitical, we do not participate in geopolitics, do not need to tie us with a defined government and look for other our motives," the statement from the DarkSide ransomware group reads.
Colonial has said the entire pipeline will be up and running again by the end of the week.
The statement did not explicitly point to the Colonial Pipeline incident, but it was titled "About the latest news." Various outlets have reported that U.S. officials and private industry say DarkSide is behind the ransomware event. Dmitry Smilyanets, a cyber threat intelligence expert from cybersecurity firm Recorded Future, tweeted a screenshot of the statement on Monday. Motherboard verified the statement is available on DarkSide’s dark web site.
"Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society," the statement continues. The statement also indicated that the group may be making changes to how it operates and chooses targets. "From today we introduce moderation and check each company that our partners want to encrypt to avoid social consequences in the future."
The hackers locked down Colonial’s computers with ransomware and demanded payment, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke with Bloomberg.
In response to the Colonial attack, the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued an emergency declaration for 17 states and Washington, DC, to keep supply lines open.
Colonial has said the entire pipeline will be up and running again by the end of the week.
Thus ends an adventure that began last Friday, brought to you courtesy of the excitable legacy media and the probably Russian DarkSide ransomware corporation, which promised never to be so mean again in its cyber privateering.
[DE] The Colonial Pipeline has started to deliver fuel across the eastern seaboard once again as gas stations begin to run dry. Pipeline operators warn it may take days for operations to resume at full capacity.
The largest gas pipeline in the US restarted its operations on Wednesday after being knocked out for six days by a cyberattack.
Fuel supply has come under strain in several states on the east coast after motorists began panic buying gas despite pleas from US authorities. The supply "crunch" led Florida and several other states to declare a state of emergency.
"Following this restart, it will take several days for the product delivery supply chain to return to normal," the Colonial company said in a statement.
Some markets served by Colonial Pipeline may experience, or continue to experience, intermittent service interruptions during the start-up period," the statement added.
US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm welcomed the news on Twitter. "We just got off the phone with Colonial Pipeline CEO. They are restarting pipeline operations today at around 5 p.m. (21:00 UTC)," she wrote.
BIDEN SIGNS CYBERSECURITY EXECUTIVE ORDER
Woo hoo.
President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... signed an executive order on Wednesday to boost federal cybersecurity capabilities, as well as digital security standards in the private sector.
The order sets out a series of initiatives that will help federal agencies with better cybersecurity tools.
Following the major cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline, a senior administration official told Rooters news agency that the executive order would have a "very significant" impact on how the government detects and responds to threats.
"It reflects a fundamental shift in our mindset from incident response to prevention, from talking about security to doing security, setting aggressive but achievable goals," the official said.

Take this as their "Fate of John the Baptist" moment, Too Little, Too Late... Give'm 6 months... This outpost of SPECTRE will be eliminated, one hacker at a time.
Given the upper level Harris/Biden Admin remarks calling for or hinting about the need for greater Federal Monitoring and involvement in the Internet and Possible Federal Oversight (initial step for Nationalization) of the Oil/Gas Industry.
Something about this whole incident to me reeks of Socialist-Democrat involvement.
BTW: Here in Middle Eastern GA./SC. border we hit $3.25+ for 87 octane in some places a little more last night. The price prior to the induced PANIC was $2.43 to $2.49

[ToloNews] Afghanistan's First Vice President Amrullah Saleh in an interview told CBS News said it was the American government that "legitimized" the Taliban ...Arabic for students... in the first place, and now Afghans "need the United States to remain engaged," even if it's not in the same form as the last 20 years.
"The United States legitimized them. The Doha office is a creation of the United States. Getting Mullah Baradar out of the jail is an invention of the United States. Allowing them to travel here and there is with the help of the United States. Of course, Doha agreement is between the United States and the Taliban. They should be held accountable," Saleh said.
"At the end of the day, United States is a superpower, unless it says I'm not. It's a superpower, and they have leverage--all over. We respect that leverage because, as a needy country, we need the United States to remain engaged-- engaged diplomatically, economically, strategically. You know, as I said, what you see as a change in Afghanistan is largely, largely due to investment of the United States here," he said.
On the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, Saleh told CBS: "They have taken a decision, and we respect that decision. I'm sure they have calculated the risks. But if you ask me to remind them what is the risk, Taliban are terrorists."
The US military planners are looking for options to base forces and equipment in Central Asia and the Middle East after American and allied troops leave Afghanistan in the coming months, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The report said that the US military commanders want bases for troops, drones, bombers and artillery to shore up the Afghan government, keep the Taliban insurgency in check and monitor other bad boys.
Options being assessed range from nearby countries to more distant Arab Gulf emirates and navy ships at sea, US government and military officials told The Wall Street Journal.
According to some military and Biden administration officials, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan would be preferable, because they border Afghanistan and would allow for quick access. But Russia and China's influence in the area and tensions between them and Washington complicate plans for Central Asian bases, the officials said.
"The drive to work looks like it will be a little bit longer for now," one official said.
Last month, US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... announced that American troops will leave Afghanistan by September 11. NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... will also exit troops from the country by the same deadline.

[REGNUM] Mayor of Magadan, Yuri Grishan on May 12 personally checked the work of the security systems of educational institutions, the press service of the city mayor told a REGNUM correspondent .
So, in one of the largest schools in Magadan №29, 400 children study in each of the shifts. At night, the school is guarded by a security agency, they also installed turnstiles at the entrance to the building. During the day, the National Guard officers monitor safety. Training exercises are held at least once a month.
Since the beginning of 2021, 24 institutions have been taken under the protection of the Russian National Guard. It is planned to transfer all schools and kindergartens under the protection of the department.
The mayor assured that the government of Kolyma is allocating enough funds to continue the anti-terrorist campaign, therefore, in summer a number of city institutions will install video surveillance systems with high image quality. There are plans to transfer 47 facilities under the protection of non-departmental security.
As reported by IA REGNUM , unscheduled security checks related to the tragedy in Kazan have started in schools and colleges of the Sverdlovsk region.
News from the Amur region:
[REGNUM] In the Amur region, the student promised to repeat the tragedy that occurred in the gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan, writes the Telegram channel "Telegram Blagoveshchensk No. 1" on May 13.
It is known that the minor wrote about his intentions on social networks:
"Tomorrow at 27 school Blagoveshchensk I'll do the same" .
It is reported that the student was detained. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved. The threatening person who wrote the message admitted that he was joking.

[ToloNews] Pakistain ruled out Tuesday the possibility of again providing its military bases to the United States for future counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan, as US troops prepare to completely leave the country by September 11, VOA reported.
Pakistain’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi ...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached... made the remarks to news hounds in Islamabad, explaining that his government has adopted a policy that allows it to be "only partners in peace," and not involved in any future US war.
"No sir, we do not intend to allow boots on the ground and no [US] bases are being transferred to Pakistain," Qureshi said when asked whether his government is under pressure to give military bases to the US.
The report said that US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S., who gives the geriatric a bad name... ’s administration has acknowledged it is in talks with several Central Asian neighbors of Afghanistan to examine where it can reposition troops to prevent the landlocked country from once again becoming a terrorist base for groups like al-Qaeda.
But US officials have not named Pakistain, nor have they commented on media speculation that the subject of bases might be under bilateral discussions.
Qureshi said "we feel" the Taliban ...Arabic for students... ’s engagement in the Afghan grinding of the peace processor would bring and enhance the "international respectability and recognition" that the group required.
"If they want to be acceptable, if they want delisting to take place, if they want recognition then engagement, giving up violence and looking for a political solution is in their political interest," he said.
In the meantime, the US forces in Afghanistan have handed over one facility to the Afghan National Army and transferred more than 1,800 pieces of equipment to be destroyed since the American drawdown from the country began May 1, US Central Command said Tuesday, according to a report published by Stars and Stripes.
CENTCOM’s estimate of completion is an "aggregate percentage of progress across all the different lines of effort that go into retrograde," including equipment, personnel and facilities, chief Pentagon front man John Kirby told news hounds at the Pentagon.
The US withdrawal from Afghanistan, which President Joe Biden ordered to be completed by Sept. 11, was about 6-12% complete as of Monday, according to the statement.
"Since the president's decision, the US has retrograded the equivalent of approximately 104 [military transport aircraft] C-17 [Globemaster III] loads of material out of Afghanistan," CENTCOM said.
Kirby said CENTCOM did not release the number of troops that remain in Afghanistan because it would provide "a level of situational awareness for the Taliban," which Pentagon officials have warned could attack withdrawing US forces.
"We have an obligation to keep our people safe, particularly in a retrograde that could be opposed," he said. "We need to be careful about the kind of information that's in the public space."
Before the drawdown began, there were about 2,500 US troops in Afghanistan. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... the Pentagon deployed several hundred Army Rangers and 12 F-18 attack planes to Afghanistan last week to assist with the drawdown, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported Thursday.

Grapevine says there have been long talks between Turkey and Pakistan, to the tune of what they can contribute to the crisis ; 'if nobody listens, we must do something to help'. Their conversations included questions of 'influencing the UN' and 'sacrifices'. I'm sure the institute boys will know details and ramifications.
We all know Erdogan has been calling on everyone in the OIC over this, and the global ummah is already riled up and pressuring their respective governments to 'end the jewish terror'.
Everywhere, local jamaats and 'islamic centers' are trying to mobilize mobs and protests. Blatant anti-jew rhetoric is now being mainstreamed and the governments are forced to accept it as genuine public ire. We are getting chatter from every network; jamaats to commie student nets to foreign NGOs, the idea is to use the muslim faux-angst over Gaza to display ummah muscle.
'Stab and stone the lovers of Israel' and 'if your local government doesn't condemn jews, riot'. As usual they will draw inspiration and parallels to their local jihads from this theme.
Concern [mainly for Gaza] is being propagated in media, by celebrities and public representatives. All to pacify respective muslim populations, which are getting their orders from their imaams and caliphs. Two tweets were pulled down under government order yesterday, know nothing film stars showing solidarity with paleos.
Pakistani Muslim actress Zahida Malik — better known as Veena Malik — who has worked for at least two decades, appearing in multiple hit Bollywood and Lollywood films, tweeted the following apparently made-up Adolf Hitler quote to her 1.2 million followers:
“I would have killed all the Jews of the world…but I kept some to show the world why I killed them.”
Adolf Hitler
According to her website, Malik, claims she has been an ambassador for a number of United Nations programs, the Red Cross, Shaukat Khanum Cancer hospital, and that she recently spearheaded a breast cancer awareness campaign. And this:
Malik also claims to be a motivational speaker and known for “her brave stances on a number of issues.”

More along the lines of 'Boo hoo hoo please stop this hatred and Israel you are mean mean mean.'
The revenue department is the first to go after such rich idiots who like to screw with our diplomatic cart. They get a call telling them to get ready for an income tax audit and then another from a guy suggesting 'I think it's just your tweet, Mr Khan. Delete it and nobody will come.' If they don't comply we have so many other cases against them. Since mostly everybody rich here is technically some kind of crook.☻

Israel should tell the ICC that any attempt at 'charging' them with crimes and the judges and those involved will be subject to immediate and personal legal danger as terrorists.
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Iraqi army warned of the implications of Lockheed Martin’s withdrawal from the country after the company decided to remove its contractors working on the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets at an Iraqi military base over security concerns.
In a statement to the state-owned news agency, Tahsin al-Khafaji, front man for Iraq’s Joint Operations Command, said that F-16 jets are very important, describing them as the backbone of the Iraqi air force in its fight against ISIS.
Khafaji added that the companies involved in the maintenance of these aircraft have a direct impact on training Iraqi technicians
He hoped the technicians are equipped to maintain the fighter jets, warning that any interruption in the maintenance will negatively affect the training and the army's engineering and technical capabilities.
The company’s vice president for communications, Joseph LaMarca Jr., said that in coordination with the US government and with employee safety as a top priority, Lockheed Martin is relocating its Iraq-based F-16 team.
According to an Iraqi official, the company has 70 employees at the Balad base, and 50 of them will be sent back to the US, while 20 will be sent to Erbil in the Kurdistan region.
The withdrawal of personnel and technicians comes due to repeated missile attacks on the base launched by gangs affiliated with Iran.
A recent report by the US Department of Defense said that during the first three months of this year, the militias focused on attacking the main bases in Iraq, which prompted the US contractors to leave al-Balad base of the Iraqi air force temporarily.
Lockheed Martin's decision will stop the remaining number of F-16 fighters in the Iraqi fleet from operating, which casts doubts on Iraq's ability to fight ISIS Lions of Islam without US assistance.
Security expert Fadel Abu Ragheef, told Asharq al-Awsat that the only remaining foreign forces in Iraq are maintenance companies, noting that their presence is necessary for the maintenance of F-16 jets bought from the US.
Abu Ragheef said that the withdrawal of the employees of this company will cause very serious harm, warning that these jets will become useless.
[Arutz7] - A Rishon Letzion court ordered police Thursday to release three Jews arrested for opening fire on a group of Arab rioters earlier this week.
...The three men were arrested Tuesday morning, after they opened fire on a mob of Arab rioters between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, as the rioters attacked Jewish homes in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Lod.
The arrest sparked a public outcry, despite initial police claims that the claims of self-defense offered by the three residents of Lod did not fit with the evidence of the case.
On Thursday, however, police representatives in court admitted that the investigation has progressed, removing some of the doubts on the suspects’ claims.

Good to know, g(r)omgoru. Thank you for keeping us updated on the situation in the midst of everything going on over there. You and your son and all Israel are in my prayers.
If Bibi really is forced out of office after four completely unnecessary elections, he’s going to take care of business first.
If Bibi really is forced out of office after four completely unnecessary elections, he’s going to take care of business first.
I think the situation have changed a bit. I think, our political "elites" has been reminded that there are things more important than their personal grudges (based, IMO, on the fact that he's just batter at the game than they are).

Thank goodness, g(r)omgoru. I was afraid it would continue like the Sicarii during the Roman siege of Jerusalem, continuing to assassinate their foes even with the enemy at the gates.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Just over a month ago, the Biden administration announced $235 million in US aid to Paleostinians, and on Tuesday, Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, launched a heavy rocket attack on Israel.
"The United States is pleased to announce that, working with Congress, we plan to restart US economic, development, and humanitarian assistance for the Paleostinian people," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in early April.
This funding was a direct reversal of Trump's policy in the Middle East. In 2018, President Trump withdrew US funding for Paleostinians and began a grinding of the peace processor that focused on normalizing relations between Arab states and Israel.
The program was so effective, that Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and flights began between Israel and the UAE for the first time. The UAE also offered congratulations for Israeli Independence Day. Bahrain and even Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were, to inclid Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century... were brought into more normal relations as well.

The article this morning about the Shadow President being Susan Rice brings a bit more focus. She is the point man and chief operator inside the White House for the Central Committee back at the Kalorama Kompound, where Champ, ValJar and the DarkSide minions are setting policy and strategy for the further transformation of the nation. As an aside, where did she get a personal wealth of an estimated $37 million? I don't recall anything about that during her days at the WH under Obama?
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iran’s hardline former president Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad on Wednesday registered to run again in an election in June which is being seen as a test of the legitimacy of the country’s holy manal rulers.
Vilified in the West for his questioning of the Holocaust, Ahmadinejad had to step down in 2013 because of term limit rules, when incumbent President Hassan Rouhani ...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man... , who negotiated Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, won in a landslide.
"People should be involved in Iran’s decision-making process... We must all prepare ourselves for fundamental reform," state TV quoted Ahmadinejad as saying after submitting his registration.
Candidates began signing up for the polls on Tuesday with the holy manal rulers hoping for a high turnout which may be hit by rising discontent over an economy crippled by US sanctions reimposed after Washington exited the nuclear deal three years ago.
Registration will end on Saturday, after which entrants will be screened for their qualifications by a 12-member vetting body, the Guardian Council. Six members of the hardline body are appointed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... Khamenei backed Ahmadinejad after his 2009 re-election triggered protests in which dozens of people were killed and hundreds arrested, rattling the ruling theocracy, before security forces led by the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) stamped out the unrest.
But a rift developed between the two after then-president Ahmadinejad explicitly advocated checks on Khamenei’s ultimate authority. Ahmadinejad was disqualified by the Guardian Council in the 2017 presidential election.
In an open letter to Khamenei in 2018, Ahmadinejad called for "fundamental reforms" in the three branches of government - executive, parliament and judiciary - as well as the office of the Supreme Leader.
A former officer of the Guards, who has tried to re-brand himself as a moderate politician by criticizing the holy manal establishment, Ahmadinejad relies on Iran’s devout poor and working class who have grown impatient with the mounting economic pressure.
However, those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things... his popularity remains in question and hardline political groups are expected to back prominent holy man and judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi if he decides to run.
Rouhani cannot seek re-election under Iran’s constitution.
Several hardline candidates, including some IRGC commanders, have said they would withdraw if Raisi enters the race to avoid splitting the vote.
Appointed by the supreme leader as head of the judiciary, Raisi has emerged as one of Iran’s most powerful figures and a contender to succeed Khamenei.

[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... is drawing up sanctions on politicians in Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... seen as blocking the formation of a government, readying the bloc's first penalties on its Middle Eastern ally in frustration at the ruling elite's mismanagement, diplomats said.
Led by former colonial power La Belle France, the bloc is seeking to ramp up pressure on Lebanon's squabbling politicians, after 10 months of crisis that has left Lebanon facing financial collapse, hyperinflation, electricity blackouts, and fuel and food shortages.
No names have been discussed and Hungary has publicly denounced EU efforts to pressure Lebanese politicians, but six diplomats and officials told Rooters that technical work has now begun on preparing sanctions — so-called designation criteria - after EU foreign ministers on Monday agreed to take action.
As many senior Lebanese politicians have homes, bank accounts and investments in the EU, and send their children to universities there, a withdrawal of that access could be a lever to focus minds.
Gay Paree says it has already taken measures to restrict entry for some Lebanese officials, for blocking efforts to tackle the unprecedented crisis, which is rooted in decades of state corruption and debt.
"The level of impatience with the ruling class is growing. They don't seem to have their peoples' interest at heart. Expect to see a decision in the next three to four weeks," said a senior EU diplomat.
The EU first needs to set up a sanctions regime that could then see individuals hit by travel bans and asset freezes.
There are divisions among the 27 EU states over the wisdom of EU sanctions, but the bloc's two main powers, La Belle France and Germany are in favor, which is likely to prove pivotal. A larger group of nations has yet to specify their approach.
However, women are made to be loved, not understood... officials say it is usual at the technical, preparatory stage that countries remain circumspect and that once a political agreement among EU governments is in place, they will rally around La Belle France.
"It's just a question of time. We have what we wanted," said a senior French diplomat following Monday's meeting.
Given Hungary's opposition, the working hypothesis is now to go for the approach of each of the remaining 26 EU countries to individually place sanctions, as well as offering aid.
