[Aljazeera] Air safety officials in the United States are investigating whether employees at Boeing falsified inspections records for the 787 Dreamliner.
The Federal Aviation Administration said on Monday that it had opened the probe after Boeing voluntarily informed officials that it may not have completed required inspections to "confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the fuselage on certain 787 Dreamliner airplanes".
"The FAA is investigating whether Boeing completed the inspections and whether company employees may have falsified aircraft records. At the same time, Boeing is reinspecting all 787 airplanes still within the production system and must also create a plan to address the in-service fleet," an FAA spokesperson said in a statement.
"As the investigation continues, the FAA will take any necessary action — as always — to ensure the safety of the flying public."
Boeing raised its concerns after an employee observed an "irregularity" and raised the issue with a supervisor, Scott Stocker, head of the Boeing 787 programme, said in an email to staff.
[NYPOST] A gunman has been arrested after pulling a firearm on a Pennsylvania pastor mid-sermon in a terrifying caught-on-camera ordeal — with cops later finding one of his relatives bumped off in his home.
Bernard Polite, 26, was nabbed after trying to shoot pastor Glenn Germany at the Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock on Sunday afternoon, cops said.
A horrifying livestream of the ordeal showed Germany ducking for cover as the perp brandished the weapon in front of churchgoers, including the pastor’s own 14-year-old daughter.
"He pulled the gun; it clicked," the pastor told WPXI. "You heard him shoot it."
"God jammed the gun so the bullet didn’t come out."

[YouTube] Over an evening of drinks in Cairo, two British Special Operations Executive agents devised the organization's boldest plan yet.
During the Axis occupation of the Greek island of Crete, the two men hatched a plan to kidnap the feared Friedrich-Willhelm Muller.
For Captain Stanley Moss, barely 18, the mission was his first chance to shine within the top-secret SOE. But for Major Patrick Leigh Fermor, who'd been present during the invasion of the island and seen Mueller's savagery against the population firsthand, the operation was personal.
However, as the plan began to unfold and the men prepared to travel into Crete, one of the most dangerous islands in the Mediterranean, invaded by the Italians and the Germans, Muller was transferred.
After evaluating the immense risks of such an operation, the SOE had two choices: to cancel the mission outright or to go on with it.
As part of the United Kingdom's most elite spy and covert operations organization, the decision was clear for the two men: to face the danger and parachute into Crete to claim their prey...
Check this guy out. In addition to being a crazy heroic SOE agent, he also wrote three pre-war travelogues that are just amazing to get the feel of the times. The passage in volume 1 where he visits with a former German Communist, now a committed Nazi is revealing of his times and ours.
[BLAZE] n yet another blow to DEI initiatives across the country, three white former executives with the Department of Education in New York City will soon receive a hefty payout after they had allegedly been demoted in favor of "less-qualified" employees "of color," the New York Post reported.
Five years ago, Lois Hererra, Jaye Murray, and Laura Feijoo filed a lawsuit alleging that the city's DOE had discriminated against them on the basis of their race, as Blaze News previously reported. The lawsuit originally sought $90 million in damages.
Hererra, a Harvard alumna who had become executive director of the Office of Safety and Youth Development following decades at the agency, had been demoted in favor of Mark Rampersant, a black man with a GED. Murray, a former executive director of the Office of Counseling Support Programs, was demoted three rungs and had to report to Rampersant at one point. Finally, Feijoo, a former senior supervising superintendent who once supervised all other DOE superintendents was passed over for an opening at deputy chancellor by one of her black subordinates, Cheryl Watson-Harris, who did not even have the license necessary for the position at the time she was hired.
Those staffing changes occurred under the leadership of former Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza, a lackey of Democrat former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was "fixated on diversity," according to an internal DOE email written by then-chief operating officer Ursulina Ramirez.
According to the lawsuit, Carranza threatened the job of any "Caucasian DOE employees" who dared to question his "equity platform." "Get on board ... or leave," he allegedly warned them.

Nothing will happen to these people. The "hefty payouts" will come from taxpayers.

...well, take some of that money and reinvest in lawyers to directly sue the identified individuals for violating their civil rights as established by the courts. Not going to get much, but the Left has taught us to engage in personal lawfare to make the process the punishment.
[GEO.TV] After suffering a massive defeat in the local elections, the United Kingdom’s Liberal Democrats announced Monday that they are going to table a no-confidence motion against the government of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, compelling the ruling party to announce polls in June.
According to BBC News results, the ruling conservative party could not secure 474 council seats The Liberal Democrats also witnessed a surge in their share of power with 104.
Prime Minister Sunak told journalists Monday: "Of course, this was a disappointing weekend for us but the result of the next general election isn't a foregone conclusion ... the situation is closer than many people are saying or indeed some of the opinion polls are predicting."
"I'm absolutely determined to fight incredibly hard for what I believe and for the future country that I want to build," the 43-year-old noted.
On the contrary, the Conservatives’ loss triggered nationwide demand for general elections as he had earlier noted that he had intended to do so in the second half of the year.
The ruling party could avert the no-confidence vote since they currently have the majority in the parliament’s lower house.
Reuters reported that the British government is not expected to give parliamentary time to debate confidence motions if brought forward by opposition parties other than the Labour Party.

And,of course, remember that in England, "table" means the exact opposite of what it means here. Over there "table" means that they WILL consider it.

[Washington Examiner] The Medicare trust fund will be exhausted in 2036, and the combined Social Security trust fund will become exhausted in 2035, the programs’ trustees projected on Monday.
The report illustrates the long-term problems facing the entitlement programs, on which tens of millions of people rely. Nevertheless, it contained good news in that the deadlines have been moved back a bit from last year’s projections.
The extended timeline gives a bit more breathing room to Congress, where the looming depletion of the trust fund has become a top political issue. Both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have vowed not to cut the popular entitlement benefits for seniors.
Still, the fact that the dates are still just over a decade away is another reminder of the fiscal cliffs that are looming large and the need for lawmakers to craft a plan to keep the programs solvent.
"The Biden-Harris administration has promised to build an economy from the middle out and the bottom up — that includes ensuring that workers and their families can count on the Social Security and Medicare benefits they have earned throughout their lives," acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su said.
MEDICARE
Medicare is the government health insurance plan primarily covering people aged 65 or older. It was first implemented in 1965 and has been a popular entitlement program for older people and retirees.
The new projections show that the expected date of exhaustion of the Medicare trust fund has been pushed back from 2031 to 2036. At that point, the Medicare fund’s reserves will become depleted and the continuing program income will be enough to pay just 89% of total scheduled benefits.
The improvement from last year’s trustee projections is due to several factors, according to the report, including higher payroll tax income because of the stronger-than-expected economy and because actual 2023 expenditures were lower than expected last year. Plus, the trustees cited "a policy change correcting for the way medical education expenses are accounted for in Medicare Advantage rates starting in 2024."
SOCIAL SECURITY AND DISABILITY INSURANCE TRUST FUNDS
The exhaustion date for the trust fund for the combined Social Security retirement and disability funds has been pushed back by a year.
Social Security is a popular retirement program that can first start to be claimed at age 62, although benefits increase the longer one waits to claim them, with benefits capping out at a retirement age of 70.
Likewise, the trustees predict that the combined Social Security trust fund and Disability Insurance trust fund will only be enough to pay 83% of scheduled benefits sometime in 2035.
Social Security’s looming insolvency is driven, in part, by declining birthrates. While life expectancy has increased since Social Security’s creation in the New Deal era, the ratio of workers to beneficiaries has declined, further putting pressure on the system.

Stop and think of all the things that SSA pays out $$$$$ that were NEVER part of, or meant to be.
ALSO
How about cutting a lot of social $$$$$ play outs and teaching more personal responsibility.
How about FREE Birth Control Pills & Condoms, instead of more SNAP benefits or other Free Taxpayer $$$$.
How about requiring the Mothers with a growing collection of illegitimate kids to ID the dads and start docking the Sperm Donor's paycheck or STATE/FED checks.
How about an Annual audit of all Section 8 housing. To see if UNAUTHORIZED persons are living there, or if the authorized Section 8 person is renting out a room(s)?

It's not a 'trust fund'. It stood SCOTUS challenge by being classified as a tax. In the 60's the Johnson administration and Donk Congress did away with maintaining two books on the accounting and merged it with the normal tax income stream. It'll run out when the printing presses stop or the computers can no longer handle that big of a number.
[Federalist] The House Rules Committee will consider a proposal late Monday afternoon that would prevent illegal aliens and other foreign nationals from skewing elections by shifting the apportionment of congressional seats and electoral college votes.
The "Equal Representation Act" would modify the Census Bureau’s questionnaire for each decennial census beginning in 2030 by requiring individuals to attest to their citizenship status on the form and then using that data to exclude foreign nationals from the count used to determine congressional and electoral college apportionment. Apportionment is derived from the number of residents in a particular area but does not currently differentiate legal citizens from foreigners who, in many cases, are illegal immigrants. A state can gain or lose congressional seats and electoral college votes based on the size of its population.
This means that millions of illegal aliens who have invaded the country can dilute the representation of American citizens by inflating the populations of the left-leaning areas to which they flock — even as American citizens flee those same states.
When former President Donald Trump signed a memo in July 2020 barring illegal aliens from being counted in the census, it was promptly met with a flurry of challenges. A handful of judges blocked the memo, and President Joe Biden eventually reversed the policy.
Democrat New York Rep. Yvette Clark made it crystal clear why Democrats support including illegal aliens in their apportionment tallies when she said in 2021 that her district could "absorb a significant number of these migrants" because "I need more people in my district, just for redistricting purposes." As droves of Californians and New Yorkers head to red states like Florida and Texas, Democrats are desperate to recoup their population losses to maintain their electoral advantages. Through policies like sanctuary cities — which drain government resources and often invite violence — Democrats have incentivized a boom in illegal immigration to blue areas, which in turn inflates census data in Democrats’ favor.
In advance of Monday’s hearing, several Democrats submitted amendments to gut the bill. Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman submitted an amendment that would "prohibit[] the executive branch from issuing any rule or policy that would circumvent or waive the requirements" of the bill.

Same reason Donks insisted in counting 3/5ths of slaves and natives. Things really haven't changed that much in 230 years.
[Gateway] Republicans will hold US Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt over the Justice Department’s refusal to hand over audio recordings of Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.
"The House Judiciary Committee is aiming to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to provide audio recordings of President Joe Biden’s interview with the special counsel who investigated his handling of classified documents." — the Washington Examiner reported.
"The Republican-led committee is planning to hold a meeting to review a contempt report and hold a committee vote on the matter on May 16, according to two sources familiar with the plans." The Examiner reported.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer last month released a statement after the DOJ rebuffed his committee’s request for the audio recordings.
"The Biden Administration does not get to determine what Congress needs and does not need for its oversight of the executive branch," Comer said. "The American people deserve to hear the actual audio of President Biden’s answers to Special Counsel Hur."
Comer said it is "curious" that the Biden Regime is refusing to release audio of Biden’s interview with Hur after releasing the transcript.
What we do know is that Joe Biden lied about Robert Hur raising the issue about his dead son Beau.
The Justice Department previously defended not bringing charges against Biden because he’s a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

Ironically, we owe both Trump and Obama for Swillary never being prexident. Also ironic is we owe the hated Cocaine Mitch for Garland not being on SCROTUS.

[BLAZE] A group of African Methodists released a statement last week, taking a stand for orthodox Christian teaching on sexual ethics.
The United Methodist Church joined ranks with other progressive American denominations last week when, at its general conference, the church reversed prohibitions on LGBT clergy, same-sex weddings, and rules against LGBT-practicing members.
Now, United Methodist pastors can openly practice the LGBT lifestyle and will not face discipline for officiating same-sex marriages. The denomination, moreover, no longer teaches that "the practice of homosexuality ... is incompatible with Christian teaching."
But Methodist representatives from the majority world are standing their ground.
IIRC, some denominations have had to bring in African priests because there aren't enough American ones, and some African churches did send missionaries a few years back.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A new study of metal ore deep inside the moon is offering fresh evidence that Earth's natural satellite was formed by an ancient planet crashing into Earth long ago.
This long-theorized interplanetary collision — which scientists believe occurred some 4.5 billion years ago — saw a Mars-sized planet named 'Theia' slice itself into hot lava fragments upon impact with the Earth.
While some of Theia's planetary remains appear to be buried as dense and massive 'blobs' deep underneath Africa and the Pacific Ocean's tectonic plates, scientists said evidence for where the rest of Theia went after this crash had remained elusive.
But now, new data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) spacecraft has found large telltale deposits of titanium-iron ore deep beneath the moon's surface, suggesting Theia's other remains did, in fact, form Earth's moon.
