Federal grand jury charges Southern Poverty Law Center with fraud over hate ratings
[Just The News] A federal grand jury in Alabama on Tuesday indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center on 11 counts of wire and bank fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, as the Justice Department accused the group that rose to fame during the 1960s Civil Rights movement of paying members of 21st century extremist groups to stoke hatred.

"The SPLC is a nonprofit entity that purports to fight white supremacy and racial hatred by reporting on extremist groups and conducting research to inform law enforcement groups with the goal of dismantling these groups," Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told a news conference attended by CBS News. "The SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred."

Blanche said the group was charged with six counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. He said that the SPLC had paid at least $3 million to eight members of these extremist groups.

Among the groups whose members received funds were the Ku Klux Klan, United Klans of America, Aryan Nations, and the Nationalist Socialist Party of American Nazis.

The SPLC is a nonprofit that tracks white supremacist and other hate groups across the U.S., and has been a frequent target of President Donald Trump's allies. It is best known for its work investigating the Ku Klux Klan.

The group has acknowledged using such informants to infiltrate extremist groups and gather intelligence on their operations, which it shared with local and federal law enforcement, according to the Associated Press.

[Hypoglycemic] Woman opens fire on Maryland gas station clerk during attempted robbery
[FoxNews] The Howard County Police Department in Maryland released surveillance footage of a suspect opening fire inside a gas station during what investigators believe to have been an attempted robbery.

In the footage, which does not include any sound, the woman can be seen holding the gun and speaking before eventually shooting.

The incident occurred on Friday. The police shared the video on Monday, offering up to $2,500 for information that leads to the suspect.

A reward of up to $1,000 had previously been offered.

"At approximately 7:43 p.m. April 17 police were called to the Shell gas station in the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way in Columbia for a report of a shooting," police said in a statement.

Chatbot under criminal investigation in connection with mass shooting at Florida State University
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Florida prosecutors are expanding their investigation into OpenAI after its ChatGPT tool allegedly gave advice to the gunman behind the mass shooting at Florida State University last year.

State Attorney General James Uthmeier announced in a press conference on Tuesday that his office was issuing subpoenas to the company after the alleged shooter, Phoenix Ikner, was given 'significant advice' by their chatbot.

Ikner consulted with ChatGPT about the kind of firearm to use and questions about ammunition, as well as whether or not a type of gun would be useful at short range, according to Uthmeier.

The attorney general added that the chatbot also advised the alleged shooter about where the largest concentration of people would be on campus and the appropriate time to commit the atrocity.

'My prosecutors have looked at this and have told me if this were a person on the other end of the screen, we would be charging them with murder,' Uthmeier said.

The attorney general noted that his office is pursuing both criminal and civil investigations into OpenAI, not only in connection to the shooting but also for alleged child sex abuse material and the encouragement of self-harm.

'Just because this is a chatbot in AI does not mean that there is no criminal culpability,' Uthmeier said at the press conference.

'So, we are going to look at who knew what, designed what, or should have done what. And if it is clear that individuals knew that this type of dangerous behavior might take place, that these types of unfortunate, tragic events might take place, and nevertheless still turned to profits, still allowed this business to operate, then people need to be held accountable.'

Aerospace defense engineer, military veteran killed in plane crash with family
[FoxNews] James 'Tony' Moffatt and his family died in a Mooney M20 crash in South Carolina as the cause remains under investigation

A decorated veteran pilot, aerospace engineer and defense researcher was killed in a plane crash in South Carolina last week, raising questions about whether the incident is related to the deaths and disappearances of 11 scientists tied to nuclear and space research.

James "Tony" Moffatt, 60, was flying with his wife Leasa, 61, and sons Andrew, 30, and William, 28, when the plane crashed in a wooded area near the runway at Union County Airport in South Carolina on Friday, the Union County Coroner's Office said.

The family from Huntsville, Alabama, was traveling from the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina to Huntsville, officials said, and had stopped in Union County, South Carolina to refuel.

The Union County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. The family was flying a Mooney M20 single-engine aircraft, the National Transportation Safety Board said.

Authorities have not yet released a cause of the crash as the NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration investigate the incident.

Moffatt is the latest scientist with ties to aerospace research and NASA to make headlines, with the deaths and disappearances of 11 individuals with similar backgrounds raising concerns.

His son, Andrew Moffatt, was also an up-and-coming researcher at the time of his death. The 30-year-old was a research engineer and scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville's Research and Engineering Support Center, according to UAH.

The elder Moffatt earned a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 1988 and previously studied as an experimental test pilot in the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Following his 21-year military career, Moffatt worked as a payload and flight crew support specialist at NASA’s Johnson Space Center Astronaut Office, where he participated in 14 Space Shuttle ISS construction missions.

After retiring from the Army in 2008, Moffatt founded aerospace consulting firm Moffatt Systems Inc., and later served as a principal research engineer at the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s Research Center.

He also worked on the Army's Degraded Visual Environment Mitigation program and the Next Generation Unmanned Aircraft System technology demonstration.

Moffatt’s experience draws parallels with several of the scientists who have either died or been reported missing since 2022.

Michael David Hicks, 59; Frank Maiwald, 61; Nuno Loureiro, 47; Jason Thomas, 45; Amy Eskridge, 34; and Carl Grillmair, 47, all died between 2022 and 2026.

Monica Reza, 60; Melissa Casias, 53; Anthony Chavez, 79; Steven Garcia, 48; and retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland, 68, were all reported missing throughout 2023 to 2026, with each of their disappearances occurring under suspicious circumstances.

Both Reza and Eskridge shared similarities with Moffatt relating to their NASA-based research, with Reza disappearing when she was the director of materials processing at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

Additionally, several of the scientists worked within defense labs – mirroring Moffatt’s experience as the founder of aerospace consulting firm Moffatt Systems Inc.

Moffatt’s two sons were also ingrained in similar scientific fields at the time of their deaths.

Andrew Moffatt served as a research engineer and scientist at UAH's Research and Engineering Support Center.

"Andrew was a well-rounded and fine young man, and his spirit made every day an enjoyable day," Jerry Hendrix, executive director of RSESC, said in a statement. "We will never forget his smile, inviting personality and his encouragement. He will be missed."

William Moffatt worked in the information technology industry, and recently earned his Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate certification and held CompTIA Security+ and Linux+ credentials, according to his LinkedIn.

The disappearances and deaths of the 11 scientists have gained the attention of politicians in Washington, with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., warning that "something sinister" could be involved.

"We've put a notice out to the Department of War, the FBI, NASA, and the Department of Energy. We want to know everything they know about what happened with these scientists, because those four agencies were predominantly the ones these 11 individuals were affiliated with," he said during an appearance on "Fox & Friends Weekend." "We want to try to piece this together."

On Monday, NASA announced it would work alongside other federal agencies to investigate the incidents.

"NASA is coordinating and cooperating with the relevant agencies in relation to the missing scientists," NASA spokesperson Bethany Stephens wrote on X. "At this time, nothing related to NASA indicates a national security threat. The agency is committed to transparency and will provide more information as it becomes available."

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has also vowed to look into the various occurrences.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the FBI confirmed the agency is working alongside other federal authorities in the investigation into the 11 missing and deceased scientists.

"The FBI is spearheading the effort to look for connections into the missing and deceased scientists," the FBI said. "We are working with the Department of Energy, Department of War, and with our state and state and local law enforcement partners to find answers."

"I hope it's random, but we're going to know in the next week and a half," Trump told reporters last week. "I just left a meeting on that subject."

Federal court upholds Texas law requiring display of Ten Commandments in public school classrooms
[Just The News] Texas law requiring that public schools across the state must display the Ten Commandments was upheld by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday, according to Fox News.

The ruling came after the Republican-led legislature passed the law in 2025.

"This is one of the most important religious liberty victories for Texas in our glorious history," said Jonathan Saenz, president and attorney for Texas Values, which defended the law. "Texas continues to lead the nation in defending both religious liberty and constitutional truth."

"Today’s ruling confirms that our state can honor the moral heritage that undergirds our legal system without violating the First Amendment," he added. "This decision makes clear that acknowledging the historical foundations of our laws is not only permissible — it is fully consistent with the Constitution."

Woke judge sentences man who throttled toddler to just six months in jail because he is of indigenous heritage and suffered 'negative consequences of COLONIZATION'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Canadian man was sentenced to just six months in prison after being caught on camera throttling his stepson, after a judge ruled his indigenous heritage was a mitigating factor.

British Columbia Provincial Judge Tamera Golinsky made her decision on April 7 after the man, who was listed under the initials KJM, pleaded guilty to one count of assault by choking and one count of assault.

The defendant's name was not listed due to a publication ban to protect the victim's identity, reported CP24.

The 33-year-old choked and kicked his girlfriend's child on two occasions while on a 'cocaine come down' on two days in June 2025.
Because the indigenous people loved their cocaine
In the sentencing document, Golinsky referred to KJM's indigenous heritage multiple times, despite noting that the violence could have 'an inevitable and long-term impact' on the child, reported CTV News.

However, Golinsky took into consideration that while KJM was not raised in a 'traditional upbringing,' he is of First Nations descent through his mother.

'While I acknowledge that there is no evidence that he or his immediate family were impacted by state actions such as residential schools, even the disassociation with one’s past and cultural heritage is a negative consequence of colonization,' Golinsky wrote in her decision.

Golinsky subsequently ignored the prosecution's proposal that KJM be sentenced to one year in jail, followed by one year on probation.

Four contenders for UN secretary-general face live hearings; others may join race
[IsraelTimes] The four declared candidates vying to become the next United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
secretary-general will face in-person hearings on Tuesday and Wednesday examining their bids to lead the troubled global organization beginning next year.

Among the candidates are Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
’s Rafael Grossi, who as head of the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency has been at the center of international diplomatic efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program, and Costa Rica’s Rebeca Grynspan.

Chile’s Michelle Bachelet and Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
’s Macky Sall are also competing for a five-year term at the helm of the 193-member body, which can be extended for another five.

While they are the only declared candidates so far, others can join in the race in the coming months.

The next UN leader will face an enormous task to revitalize an organization in crisis, whose stature has significantly diminished in recent years.

Major powers, even as they increasingly flout long-held norms of international order, have pressed the UN to reform, slash costs, and prove its relevance.

The UN is especially controversial in Israel, which it frequently condemns. The UN General Assembly adopted 15 resolutions last year denouncing the Jewish state, compared to just 11 in total against all others, according to the UN Watch organization.

#7  I noticed that the LGBTQ+, Pride, gender benders, et al all seems to be about extreme sex.

In short, it's all about sex and going to extreme to have sex in any way possible.

So basically, there's no 'normal' behaviors with those people, it's all about having sex in any way possible to try to achieve some pleasure from their sexual behaviors.

Which is why I would not trust them in any positions of responsibility. Their judgement is highly questionable as has been shown over and over!

#10  Because the Dead Sea is at -1400 feet below sea level, the atmosphere blocks a lot of the UVb and even some of the UVa radiation.

That has led some people to say 'you can't get sunburned while at the Dead Sea'. Unfortunately that is false.

However, short periods of exposure to the sun and mineral water at the Dead Sea can provide treatment of psoriasis and related illness.

Videos show harassment of Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn
[IsraelTimes] Two videos show apparent harassment of Orthodox Jewish New Yorkers.

One of the clips, released by the Boro Park Shomrim neighborhood watch group, shows a white SUV pulling onto a crosswalk. The passengers call outto a Jewish man, before one of the car’s occupants gets out and chases the man down the street, shouting, “Come here!” while the other occupants cheer.

The Anti-Defamation League says the NYPD’s hate crimes unit is investigating. The Boro Park Shomrim says the incident took place during the Passover holiday.

A second video, shared by local media, shows a person on a bicycle knocking the hat off of an elderly Jewish man in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Curiosity has discovered about 20 complex organic compounds on Mars.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] The Curiosity rover has detected traces of approximately 20 organic compounds on the Red Planet, including nitrogen-containing molecules similar in structure to purine and pyrimidine, the basic building blocks of DNA. This was reported by the University of Florida (UFL) press service.

The rover landed on the planet in 2012, after which it explored the Glen Torridon region and collected samples of Martian clays on the slopes of Mount Sharp in the central part of Gale Crater.

When it returned to Earth, an international team of planetary scientists assembled to study the soil samples. The scientists used the SAM laboratory for the experiment. After chromatographic analysis, they discovered dozens of complex organic compounds. These included sulfur-containing organics and several nitrogen-containing molecules previously found on Mars, as well as "double" rings of aromatic hydrocarbons, similar in structure to purine and pyrimidine, the nitrogenous bases that form the central part of nucleotides, the basic building blocks of DNA.

"We suspect we're dealing with a cache of organic matter that has spent approximately 3.5 billion years in Martian soils. This is a very important discovery, as it demonstrates that complex organic compounds, including possible traces of Martian life, are, in principle, capable of persisting even in the upper layers of soil," said UFL Professor Amy Williams.
Doing nothing but persist.
What's the activation trigger for this meteoric treat?

Scientists have come to the general conclusion that organic compounds could have arrived on Mars via meteorites. This supports the theory that life on Earth also originated through the impact of cosmic objects.

Last September, NASA scientists discovered possible traces of ancient life in samples collected by the American Mars rover Perseverance. According to the agency, the rover discovered unique textured spots with a leopard-like pattern on rocks in the Neretva Valley. After studying the images and data, the scientists hypothesized that the spots may form as a byproduct of microbial activity.
