[Breitbart] In newly-released personal memos, ex-FBI Director James Comey wrote that he briefed President Donald Trump on unverified claims about an alleged escapade with prostitutes in Moscow in 2013 because "media like CNN had them and were looking for a news hook."
In actuality, Comey’s very briefing, which was subsequently leaked to CNN, provided the network with the hook to publish a story on the controversial dossier containing the infamous "Russian prostitute" claims as well as unsubstantiated charges of collusion between Russia and members of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. CNN’s report resulted in worldwide coverage of the dossier charges.
I recently saw Clinton's immigration speech from 20+ years ago, which might have been written by Trump last week. Someone had also added one of Obama's similar speeches, following Clinton's. Mixed in are clips of Trump's facial expressions at the historical views of two former (D) presidents.

I think his departure would have an overall positive effect. As far as I can tell, he has been quite passive in the role, going after second order problems. It hints at him being constrained by an outside force. Or maybe he is just out of his depth.
Get someone else in there. And note that this article comes from the Wapo. I always have to look at the source to judge the merit of their stance.

Thank me for an iceberg-sized grain of salt. From the article:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently told the White House he might have to leave his job if President Trump fired his deputy, Rod J. Rosenstein, who oversees the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to people familiar with the exchange.
As leaked by anonymities? Be still, my beating heart.

I have long believed that Sessions and Trump sit in a room and dream up these releases to distract the press and get them spinning. As long as the press think Trump is after Sessions, anything he does, to include prosecuting Comey and Mueller, will be supported by the left....

From a writer friend and former colleague:
TheClassical world is an endless source of events that mirror current events and thus can sagely inform the student. The one that comes to mind here is how the Praetorian Guard in Rome crossed the threshold from defending the emperor to replacing him. DOJ/FBI/CIA play the modern role of the Praetorian Guard.
Autocorrupt strikes again. I recently somehow approved it on my iPhone, and hopefully have now fixed the problem. But how the above was translated from Take with, I could not possibly say.

That's why I noted it was from Wapo. I never go to stories sourced from Wapo or the NYT (and a few others like the LATimes etc) because I don't want to give them another 'pageview'.

Various Roman emperors "abolished" the Pretorian Guard more than once, but still had to be surrounded by bodyguards known by another name. Once the Empire dwindled down to a pitiful remnant and the pay packets stop coming, there was neither a real Caesar nor a real Pretorian Guard. The era of warlords turning into medieval kings began.
[ConservativeTreehouse] With Inspector General Michael Horowitz submitting a criminal referral for fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe; and with knowledge of federal prosecutor John Huber paralleling Horowitz for months within the investigation; it might be worthwhile going through the names of some officials likely to surface in the next few days/weeks.
The most interesting people in the ongoing investigation are those principals who clearly were in/around the center of 2015/2016 activity; were caught in 2017, yet remain inside the FBI and DOJ National Security Division (DOJ-NSD) ie. Main Justice. Names and bios follow.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has

Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
