[Legal Insurrection] Today the prosecution presented three of its final witnesses, as the state closes in on the end of its case in chief.
I’ll get to those witnesses in a moment but I don’t want to bury the lede, so here it is:
At the end of court today Judge Cahill informed the jury that they should expect testimony to end this week, and that they should arrive Monday ready for deliberations to begin-which means, bring an overnight bag, because once deliberations begin, sequestration of the jury begins.
Indeed, testimony may end prior to Friday—the judge informed the jury that the only reason he’s not going to plan on closing arguments happening on Friday is right after closing they need to be sequestered, and he doesn’t want to have to send the jury into sequestration for the weekend.
The obvious implication given that the state hasn’t yet quite concluded its case in chief? That the defense case in chief is expected to be no more than three days in duration.
That’s in contrast to roughly 11 days of the state’s case in chief.
So, we’re almost at the end of this rodeo, folks. I expect daily content on this trial from Law of Self Defense through the end of this week, then Monday we’ll start our traditional VERDICT WATCH! and of course we’ll share the final verdict—or mistrial—news with all of you as soon as we get it ourselves.
In my part of the country rule of law is just fine, Grampaw B. Hayes5062. Possibly in yours, too, depending on where you live. It’s only in very specific bits that they don’t — along with defunded policing and corrupt voting. The rest of the country is doing pretty well.

As far as conflicting opinions between yesterday's cardiologist and the previous ME witness. When I worked in hospital admin and had to attend Grand Rounds I was told to trust the pathologist because he saw all the screw-ups and knew what actually happened.

Wait... the Jury isn't sequestered now?
Do you make them walk thru the 'mostly peaceful' protesters which surround the courthouse with a huge 'Chauvin Juror' sign around their neck too?
What next, your going to hobble them so they can't run?

The ME and the toxicology report indicate clearly that this douchebag died of a fentanyl OD.
At a minimum, the state has not come close to proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the bantamweight cop's knee on the back of the douchebag killed him
Complete and total farce

True. Just in Minneapolis.
And Portland.
Oh, and New York and Washington DC, too. And Seattle, and, come to think of it, Atlanta, Philadelphia and LA. Oh and Detroit, and...

Remember what we were saying about the No-Go zones in France? Not to mention the Car-b-ques.
This is just the latest French fashion import.

The "three days for the defense" thing is almost certainly the result of the judge asking Chauvin's counsel how long he'll need for his case and being told three days or less. I'm am just reading the occasional summary of the trial, but it would not shock me if the defense simply rested. Fun fact: Chauvin does not have to prove he's innocent.

An interesting fact is that the judge empanelled four alternate jurors and hasn't had to use one. You could read that a lot of different ways, but one way is that the original twelve jurors are pretty committed to doing their duty.

[Legal Insurrection] The key is that the point at which the state rests its case is normally the high point of the prosecution’s narrative of guilt, the point at which reasonable doubt has been eliminated to the greatest degree likely to be achieved at any point in the trial. From here on the narrative presented to the jury is primarily the narrative of the defense, which is the narrative that drives an increase, not decrease, in reasonable doubt—and reasonable doubt is the key to acquittal.
So, if this is the highpoint of the state’s narrative of guilt, and by extension the point at which reasonable doubt should have been eliminated to the greatest degree in the entirety of the trial, has the state really met that burden? Has reasonable doubt been effectively eliminated? Has the state met the threshold required for conviction? Because if they haven’t done it before the defense even has its turn on the field of legal combat, they’re not likely to achieve it moving forward.
Keep in mind, the state really has to prove two different claims to arrive at criminal misconduct on the part of Chauvin in the death of Floyd.
First, the state has to prove that Chauvin’s conduct was a significant contributory cause of Floyd’s death—that would be sufficient for the third-degree murder charge. Even the other charges do not require that Chauvin intentionally killed Floyd. Apparently not even the prosecution believes this was an act of intentional RACISTPOLICEMURDER!!! Or we would see an intentional killing charge in this case, and we do not.
But I see many in the media reporting as if that’s all the state has to do, is prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin’s conduct was a significant contributory cause of Floyd’s death. If that were correct, a conviction would seem at the very least highly possible—after all, the truth is almost certainly that Floyd died not of any single cause but of multiple forces racing together to take his life—his profound heart disease, his dangerous hypertension, his deadly-levels of fentanyl complicated by methamphetamine, his decision to forcibly resist the efforts of four police officers to make his lawful arrest. But also, of course, that force used by police, including the subdual restraint.
Does that get us to a conviction?
No, because there’s a second condition that must also be met in order for that conduct that may have made a significant contribution to Floyd’s death to be a crime—the conduct itself must in some manner be legally wrongful. If the conduct was lawful, it cannot be the basis for criminal liability.

It matters little what the state shows - the jurors just need to have more fear of retaliation than courage to overcome it. That becomes easier to rationalize if the state provides a minimum of 'cover'. Or they may rationalize a guilty verdict with the thought that they have to do it to prevent riots destroying their town.

Prior to the overthrow of Muamar Qadafi his son, the British educated Seif, was used to initiate talks with the government opposition. After his father’s murder he attempted to flee to Niger and was captured by rebels in November 2011. He was released from imprisonment in June 2017. There was immediate talk that he would be used to unite the two warring sides in Libya. His location is unknown (although US intelligence reportedly follows his every move). He is still on the International Criminal Court wanted list for alleged war crimes and suspect crimes against humanity.

[Greene website] Washington D.C. — This week, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced legislation (H.R. 2446) to award three Congressional Gold Medals to the heroic law enforcement officers and those who protect American cities from Black Lives Matter (BLM) terrorists.
Awarding three Congressional Gold Medals to Law Enforcement Officers will:
Honor over 2000 law enforcement officers who were injured while defending American cities during the riots and express that the officers who serve and defend American cities should be recognized.
Arrange for the making and presentation of three gold medals to be given to the Minneapolis Police Department, Portland Police Department, and Smithsonian Institution.
Allow the Secretary of the Treasury to commission duplicates.
Stipulate that the Secretary of the Treasury must ensure that the medals will not spend additional taxpayer dollars by drawing from the U.S. medal fund at the U.S. Mint.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene released the following statement:
"Starting in May 2020, Black Lives Matter launched a domestic terrorist campaign to burn down American cities, loot small businesses, and murder citizens. Even today, the violent rampage rages on in every major city across our country.
"In the face of this dangerous threat, our men and women in blue have stood strong by defending our streets, protecting storefronts, and restoring order. The heroic action of American law enforcement is the only force standing between us and total anarchy.
"This week I introduced legislation to honor the bravery and sacrifices of police officers across America who have quite literally put their lives on the line and fight back against Black Lives Matter terror.
"Congress should boldly and proudly BACK THE BLUE by passing H.R. 2446 immediately."
Representatives Yvette Harrell (NM-2) and Andy Harris (MD-1) have joined Congresswoman Greene as original cosponsors to H.R. 2446.

[IsraelTimes] Iranian intelligence agents attempted to lure Israelis abroad to meet, in an attempt to harm or kidnap them, the Shin Bet security service and Mossad intelligence agency says in a joint statement.
Iranian agents set up fake Instagram profiles, usually of women in the tourism business, and contacted Israelis. They attempted to draw Israelis to meetings abroad with business propositions or offers for a romantic rendezvous, the intelligence services say.
They warn Israelis who conduct business abroad to be wary of queries from social media accounts.
"Security officials call on Israeli citizens who maintain business ties abroad to be aware and vigilant about inquiries on social networks from profiles they do not recognize, and to avoid contact with them," the agencies say.
The countries named by the agencies include Arab countries, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... , the Gulf states, and countries in the Caucasus, Africa and Europe.

[IsraelTimes] Former Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", chief Khaled Mashaal, who has not held an official leadership position in the organization for years, will return to serve as the director of Hamas’s diaspora under his successor Ismail Haniyeh ...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank... , official Hamas media announce.
Hamas’s internal organization is divided into four areas: Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... , the West Bank, Israeli prisons, and abroad. Mashaal, who currently lives in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... , is well-connected with Hamas’s key patrons in Doha and Ankara.
Mashaal had reportedly launched a leadership struggle against Haniyeh for the top spot in the terror group during its elections, which were held secretly over the past two months.
The announcement that Mashaal is to serve as Hamas’ second-in-command as head of its diaspora division makes it more likely that Haniyeh — with no obvious challenger in sight — will serve another four-year term as chief of the organization’s political bureau.

[Jerusalem Post] US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin studiously avoided any mention of Iran and its nuclear ambitions in his public statements on a two-day visit to Israel, even when his interlocutors highlighted the issue.
Austin’s visit took place less than 100 days into the Biden administration, and was the first for a Biden cabinet member. It came as the US was engaged in indirect talks with Iran to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the full name of the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers, and following recent attacks on an Iranian intelligence base at sea and its Natanz underground nuclear facility, attributed to Israel.

Liars. The whole thing was a false flag to prevent Trump from stopping the war in Syria. It was proven a fraud by whistle-blowers.
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rai again lashed out at Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... ’s politicians for failing to form a new cabinet, accusing them of sharing a common interest in obstructing any political agreement to resolve the deepening crisis and of starving the Lebanese people.
He said the leaders have proven to everyone in Lebanon and the world that they do not want to form a new government.
"They have a common interest, which is obstruction and bringing the people to their knees for no reason, by starving, humiliating and impoverishing them and stripping hope from their hearts," Rai said during a Mass service held at Bkirki on Sunday.
The patriarch stressed that the formation of a new government is a top priority.
"A fully empowered government is the key to resolving the rest of the basic issues, whether in terms of reforms or political, security or economic and social issues," he explained.
Rai said the government is required to strengthen its capacity and move away from any tutelage that limits aid from donor countries, and to work on returning looted funds and expediting the implementation of the reform plan that would help the people.
"Without a government, divisions would deepen and state authority that safeguards Lebanon would be undermined," he warned.
Addressing officials, he said: "Positive work demands the formation of a government for the sake of the people. You should be ashamed before the Arab and international communities and before Arab and foreign visitors."
He also called for a "serious, not a selective, forensic audit, which cannot take place without the formation of a government."

The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... ’s caretaker prime minister on Monday approved a draft decree expanding the country’s claims in a dispute with Israel over their maritime border that has held up hydrocarbon exploration in the potentially gas-rich area.
Hassan Diab signed off on the document after both the minister of public works and the minister of defense earlier agreed to it.
The amendment would add around 1,400 square km (540 square miles) to the exclusive economic zone claimed by Lebanon in its original submission to the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... The draft decree relating to the amendment of the initial decree 6433 of 2011 has now been referred to the presidency for approval ahead of a request to the United Nations for a formal claim to register the new coordinates for the maritime zone.
Negotiations between old foes Lebanon and Israel were launched in October to try to resolve the dispute, yet the talks, a culmination of three years of diplomacy by the United States, have since stalled.
"I expect it (the decree) will be signed as everyone, the minister of defense and the prime minister and the president, are concerned about this," minister of public works Michel Najjar told a news conference earlier on Monday.

Biden administration is making it clear it wasn’t involved in Natanz explosion as it pursues diplomacy with Iran. “We have seen reports of an incident at the Natanz enrichment facility in Iran,” says senior US official. “The US had no involvement, and we have nothing to add...”
Unsourced report from #Israel's Channel 13 claims an explosive was placed near the main electricity line at #Natanz and that when it detonated, the entire facility stopped functioning. 1/3https://t.co/giU8trSyom
A blast at Iran’s Natanz nuclear enrichment facility that has been attributed to Israel was caused by a bomb planted at the site in advance, an Israeli television report said Monday.
According to Channel 13 news, the bomb went off Sunday at 4 a.m., when some 1,000 workers were at Natanz. The facility was reportedly evacuated immediately after the blast over fears of further bombs, but no other explosives were found.
The report, which did not cite a source, said the explosive was placed near the main electricity line at Natanz and that when it detonated, the entire facility stopped functioning. The facility remains non-functional, the report said, with the program set back by months.
The network also said Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... may now try to expand its operation at the underground Fordo plant, where it has over 1,000 centrifuges. There were some 6,000 centrifuges at Natanz.
Separately, the Kan public broadcaster reported that advanced centrifuges were damaged in the blast at Natanz. The report, which cited an intelligence source, did not specify which model of centrifuges were targeted. Iran publicly inaugurated the advanced IR-5 and IR-6 centrifuges at the facility on Saturday.
The television reports came after the Iranians downplayed the extent of the attack, with a front man for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran saying Monday that the blast was caused by a "small explosion" but insisting the damage could be quickly repaired.

Actually its not a secret or an improvised weapon. Its public knowledge that such materials were used to take down that type of system in the past, going back to the Gulf War and saw them on the news in NATO pacification of Bosnia/Serbia. Google BLU/114B submunition if you don't believe me. They were called "Blackout Bombs", and the F-117 delivered them. it is not an improvised weapon but a possible method of Israeli intervention with an older specialty weapon. Given the precision nature of current standoff weapons and the lightness of the payload, it's entirely possible that this was, indeed the weapon used.
Here is a Youtube video 12 years ago.
Sorry, you were ignorant of that, but now you are not.
