Study finds Egyptian state media overwhelmingly anti-Israel, antisemitic
[IsraelTimes] Research says 87% of opinion pieces about Israel in country’s two leading news outlets speak negatively about the Jewish state, and 30% of those about Jews use antisemitic tropes

Egypt’s state-controlled media is overwhelmingly hostile to Israel and features rampant antisemitism, with 87 percent of opinion articles about Israel in the country’s two leading news outlets speaking negatively about the Jewish state, according to a new study.

The research, which used artificial intelligence to analyze 4,000 opinion and commentary articles from the al-Ahram and al-Gomhuria newspapers published between January 2024 and March 2025, found that 29% of articles mentioning Jews contained antisemitic content, according to the report by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI).

The report sought to examine how Egyptian media shapes public perceptions of Israel during the ongoing war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
"These findings weren’t surprising," a member of the research team that conducted the study told The Times of Israel. "There is a very tense situation right now in which the Egyptians have been amassing military forces in the Sinai, in violation of the Camp David Accords. Last week, for the 46th anniversary of the signing of that peace treaty, there was absolutely no commemoration on the Israeli or Egyptian side. It’s just another example of how, unfortunately, the peace between Israel and Egypt never trickled down to civil society."

Of items that mentioned Israel, 70% expressed "very negative" sentiments, 12.5% were "negative," and 4.5% were "somewhat negative," as scored based on keywords used in the articles. Only 12.5% were categorized as "neutral," and less than 1% were classified as "positive," the study found.

Many articles portrayed Israel as a "colonialist entity," "the Zionist enemy," or "a cancerous plague," while accusing it of seeking regional expansion and the displacement of Paleostinians, the report said.

Of 180 opinion and commentary articles tagged as referencing the Jews, 30% were found to be explicitly antisemitic, using stereotypes such as Jewish greed, referencing "The Elders of Zion," depicting Jews as disloyal and traitorous, and denying the Holocaust, the report said.

Examples include an article in al-Gomhuria from February 2025 claiming that Jews "control" global powers using their financial influence and that they will be responsible for triggering a third world war in their quest for wealth.

Another article published in al-Ahram in October 2024 described Israel as an embodiment of evil and asserted that the "Zionist entity" seeks to implement the plans outlined in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion to establish a state spanning from the Nile to the Euphrates.

These findings indicate that Egypt’s state-controlled media devotes disproportionate attention to Israel and is overwhelmingly hostile toward it, the report concluded.

Yemen confirms 61 martyrs since restart of US bombings in March
[HodhodYemenNews] The Health Ministry in Sana’a has confirmed that the death toll from the US-led aggression on Sana’a and other governorates since mid-March has reached 61 martyrs and 139 wounded.

This came in a statement issued by the ministry on Wednesday.

The ministry also stated that since Yemen began its support operation for Gaza, the US-British-Israeli aggression has left 964 civilian casualties, including 250 martyrs.

Since Yemen resumed its operations at sea and against occupied territories in response to the renewed Israeli aggression on Gaza, the United States has intensified its attacks on Yemen, conducting airstrikes on various governorates.

Ovens, Bones and an Altar: Who Tortured 1,500 People in the 'Mexican Auschwitz'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Olga Kuznetsova

[REGNUM] The already turbulent crime chronicle of Mexico has been supplemented by the chilling story of the Izaguirre ranch in the state of Jalisco.

A group of activists searching for missing persons received several anonymous calls telling them that a ranch in a village outside Guadalajara was hiding some dark secrets.

The estate's territory has been under the protection of regional authorities since autumn and, according to their statement, has been thoroughly explored. Nothing interesting was found there - just another hideout for drug traffickers from the Jalisco New Generation cartel.

The searchers, however, were lucky. If that's what they found, of course.

Once at the ranch, they found evidence that it was not just a shelter, but a real base where they recruited and trained new fighters, as well as eliminated those who were undesirable.

HOLY DEATH
Several weeks ago, activists began excavations and quickly discovered charred human bones, as well as several underground ovens (three according to some sources, and even more according to others), in which, apparently, the bodies of the murdered were burned.

Personal belongings were also found near the remains: shoes, clothes, backpacks, notebooks, letters and much more. In the first days, forensic experts concluded that the items found could belong to at least five hundred different people.

After some time, they started talking about more monstrous numbers - almost one and a half thousand people. Moreover, most of them, judging by their clothes, were minors or a little over twenty years old.

Various parts of firearms and bladed weapons were also found, cartridges were lying almost everywhere, and near the wall there was an altar of Saint Death (Santa Muerte) with figurines, remains of candles and glasses into which alcohol could be poured during rituals.

Based on what they saw, the experts concluded that combat training was taking place at the ranch. Keeping in mind the usual practice of the major cartels - both the Jalisco New Generation and the long-disbanded Los Zetas - it was concluded that some hostages were brought there by force, forced to carry out tasks, and then, having failed to see any success or having met with a determined refusal to participate in the cartel's activities, were killed.

As for the altar of Saint Death, whose cult originates in the “regional version” of Catholicism, its presence here is quite logical: cartel fighters consider it good form to turn to the deity for support before going on a mission or to prison.

Interestingly, the training base also held hostages: many women's elegant dresses, relatively clean, were found among the personal belongings. Their owners, apparently, were kidnapped during public celebrations or parties.

News of the sinister discoveries quickly spread through regional and federal media, and the Izaguirre ranch was immediately dubbed the “Mexican Auschwitz.”

And quite quickly the commentators came up with the question: how “professionally” did regional officials search the ranch from September to October that they didn’t find a whole mountain of clothing and not very well hidden human bones?

THE JALISCO CARTEL'S RESPONSE
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has called for a thorough investigation into the findings in Jalisco state, including a review of the legality of the actions of state authorities who have been in charge of the ranch in recent months.

Soon after, a video from the Jalisco New Generation cartel appeared on social media, in which the militants decided to “clarify some facts.”

And their first question: how did it happen that unknown activists got into the territory protected by the authorities, who, having found the remains of corpses, did not immediately contact the federal authorities, but organized a "promotion" on social networks? And why does no one care that in the fall there were no bodies, no clothes, no stoves on the ranch?

Yes, the Jalisco New Generation cartel are criminals, but they operate according to their own "code" and are not idiots, because only idiots would give a gun to a person they kidnapped. And that is exactly what the mysterious volunteers found.

The members of the criminal cartel also stated that such incitement and denigration provoke a conflict situation in the region and threaten to turn the state into a “second Sinaloa.” The presence of thousands of corpses and the very fact of creating a “death camp” in the cartel are categorically denied.

To be fair, there is some logic to what the criminals are saying. What is especially alarming is that many of the ranch captives' belongings are clean, not even slightly soiled.

In addition, love letters were found here, the authors of which are still very much alive and have long been found.

And here other versions of what happened began to emerge.

Several years ago, secret burial sites were already discovered in the state of Jalisco. And immediately after that, federal troops arrived in the region with a series of operations against the Jalisco New Generation cartel.

Then the leader of the organized crime group, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes , nicknamed "El Mencho", through his people stated that the burials were created by the state governor, who plans to clear the territory with the help of the feds and thus get rid of competitors.

In an effort to take away a certain “business,” local officials are not too scrupulous in their means—they can even organize the shelling of a peaceful neighborhood in order to “draw attention to the problem.”

Almost the same thing is happening now: several special operations have been carried out in the region to capture members of the New Generation of Jalisco. However, the federal troops could not boast of any particular success, having lost three people during one of the shootouts.

The reported scale of the killings at the Izaguirre ranch also raises big questions.

People familiar with the process of identifying bodies claim that it is impossible to count, compare and conduct laboratory tests so quickly, and equating the number of dead to the number of all items of clothing found is at the very least strange.

And the people working in the cartel are not idiots who arrange burials of thousands of people in one place, and even within the boundaries of a populated area.

It cannot be ruled out that some of the bodies and clothing could have been delivered there by representatives of the federal authorities, who are in full swing fighting crime against the backdrop of Washington’s threats to impose higher tariffs on exported goods against the country.

And besides, Mexico's top security official, Omar Garcia Harfuch, considers hunting the Jalisco New Generation his personal matter of honor, since they have tried to kill him more than once. And in such cases, for certain people, as we know, all means are good.

Apparently, the cartel understands the situation perfectly well, but they can’t resist mocking their enemies: against the backdrop of a series of police operations, just an hour’s drive from Guadalajara, a grand concert was held in honor of the cartel leader, El Mencho.

The crowd chanted verses addressed to the drug lord, and the court mariachi minstrels made it clear who was the master of this land.

US sanctions Russia-based network for helping Yemen’s Houthis
[IsraelTimes] The United States has imposed sanctions on Russia-based people and entities working to help procure weapons and commodities — including stolen Ukrainian grain — for Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis, the Treasury Department says.

The operatives, who included Russia-based Afghan businessman Hushang Ghairat and his brother, Russia-based Afghan businessman Sohrab Ghairat, helped senior Houthi official Sa’id al-Jamal, procure millions of dollars’ worth of commodities from Russia for shipment to Houthi-controlled Yemen, Treasury says.

The goods included weapons and sensitive goods, as well as stolen Ukrainian grain, the department says in a statement.

“The Houthis remain reliant on Sa’id al-Jamal and his network to procure critical goods to supply the group’s terrorist war machine,” says Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “Today’s action underscores our commitment to degrading the Houthis’ ability to threaten the region through their destabilizing activities.”

Germany evacuates 19 citizens from Gaza with Israeli cooperation
[IsraelTimes] Some 19 Gazans with German citizenship and their immediate family members left Gaza today, the German foreign ministry says.

The Gazans entered Israel through the Kerem Shalom border crossing, Berlin says, adding that they flew on a charter flight from “an airport in southern Israel” — likely Ramon International Airport north of Eilat — to Germany.

The departure was arranged with the “close cooperation” of Israel, says Germany.

Germany sees 50% drop in Asylum requests
[KhaamaPress] Germany’s Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, has claimed that the country’s efforts to combat illegal immigration have been successful. Faeser stated that these efforts have led to an increase in the number of deportations and a significant reduction in asylum requests.

Over the past two years, asylum applications in Germany have halved, while the number of individuals who were illegally residing in the country and subsequently deported has risen by 55%. This demonstrates a marked shift in Germany’s approach to managing migration.

Additionally, Faeser highlighted a 77% increase in the number of skilled workers migrating to Germany legally. She emphasized that Germany has become more attractive to talented and qualified workers from around the world, helping to address labor shortages in various sectors.

Migration has remained a hot topic in Germany, particularly during the election campaigns and post-election period. The ongoing debate about immigration policy has been central to discussions in the country’s political circles.

Friedrich Merz, the likely next Chancellor of Germany, pledged during his election campaign to take a stricter stance at the borders, particularly against individuals lacking valid documentation. His party won the general elections on February 23, securing 28.5% of the vote and earning the right to form a government.

Germany has become a key destination for many Afghans fleeing the country due to security concerns or the hope for a better future for themselves and their children. However, the violent behavior of a small number of Afghan refugees in Germany has led to a decrease in the chances of Afghan refugees being accepted in the country.

Germany’s approach to immigration, particularly its efforts to reduce illegal immigration while attracting skilled labor, reflects a balancing act between security concerns and economic needs. As political leaders continue to address these issues, the outcome will shape Germany’s future immigration policies.

The discussion on Afghanistan refugees highlights the complexities involved in immigration management, especially when it comes to ensuring safety while upholding humanitarian commitments. With upcoming political changes, Germany’s immigration policies are likely to evolve further in response to both internal and external pressures.

Citing post-Holocaust doctrine, Germany seeks to deport pro-Palestinian protesters
[IsraelTimes] 4 activists accused of ‘indirectly’ supporting Hamas, pro-Hamas orgs; 3 said to have joined protests that chanted ‘from the river to the sea’ slogan, banned in country

Germany is moving to deport four foreign residents of Berlin over their alleged activity at pro-Paleostinian protests, in a move that appears likely to test a foundational law enacted in the wake of the Holocaust.

Three of the residents are citizens of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, which normally allows free movement between member states. Kasia Wlaszczyk is a citizen of Poland, and Shane O’Brien and Roberta Murray are citizens of Ireland.

The fourth, Cooper Longbottom, is a 27-year-old US citizen from Seattle who faces a ban from all 29 European countries in the Schengen Zone for two years after leaving Germany.

German immigration authorities ordered this group’s expulsion based on separate allegations tied to pro-Paleostinian demonstrations, including a sit-in at the Berlin central train station, a road blockade and the occupation of a building at the Free University, according to information obtained by the left-wing news organization The Intercept.

The deportation orders say that two of the protesters called a police officer "fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
" — insulting an officer is illegal in Germany — and three demonstrated with groups that chanted "from the river to the sea, Paleostine will be free," a slogan the country outlawed last year as antisemitic. All of them are also accused of "indirectly" supporting Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
and pro-Hamas organizations in Europe.

They have been given a deadline of April 21 to leave Germany or be forcibly deported.

None of them has been convicted of a crime. A conviction is not required for deportation under German law, but authorities are still expected to provide justifications proportional to the punishment.

As part of this reasoning, three of the deportation orders reference Germany’s "Staatsräson," or "reason of state."

According to this doctrine, which weighs heavily on German politics, the history of the Holocaust makes it imperative for Germany to defend Israel as a justification for its own existence.

But Staatsräson is not typically used in legal settings. Lawyer Thomas Oberhäuser, who is not involved in the cases, told The Intercept that invoking the principle for deportation proceedings was "impermissible under constitutional law."

German authorities moved to deport the four residents on the backdrop of tightening immigration restrictions pushed by the interior ministry of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s outgoing government.

The center-right victor in Germany’s recent elections, Friedrich Merz, promised a radical crackdown on migration during his campaign, proposing that all undocumented foreigners be turned away at the border.

Alexander Gorski, a lawyer who represents two of the people facing deportation, compared his clients’ cases to the arrests and deportation of pro-Paleostinian activists in the United States, especially those tied to protests at universities.

"From a legal perspective, we were alarmed by the reasoning, which reminded us of the case of Mahmoud Khalil," Gorski said to The Intercept.

Khalil, a recent Columbia University graduate and anti-Israel activist who holds a green card, was arrested by ICE in March and is being held in a Louisiana detention facility.

The case has drawn attention as a test of free speech rights, with supporters of Khalil saying he was targeted for publicly disagreeing with US policy on Israel and its military actions in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. . Khalil has called himself a political prisoner.

In a court brief earlier this week, the US government alleged that Khalil withheld that he worked for UNRWA, a UN Paleostinian relief agency, in his visa application, saying that this should be grounds for deportation.

Germany sees rise in sexual violence and youth offenses
Deutsche Welle admits it.
[DW] The number of violent mostly peaceful crimes in Germany increased in 2024 with a sharp increase in rapes and sexual assaults. A surge in the number of child offenders was also noted, and crimes by foreigners were also up.

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser on Wednesday described a steep rise in sexual violence as "very worrying" as she presented Germany's latest crime statisticsin Berlin.

The statistics compiled for 2024 also showed there had been a steep increase in violent mostly peaceful acts committed by young people, particularly those still classed as children.

HOW DO GERMANY'S CRIME FIGURES STACK UP?
The report said the statistics gave "cause for concern overall."

Although the number of registered crimes fell by 1.7% to nearly 6 million cases last year compared to 2023, the development was largely attributed to the partial legalization of cannabis last April.

"Violent crime, however, increased by 1.5%," the report said. "With more than 217,000 violent mostly peaceful crimes nationwide, it reached its highest level since 2007."

The statistics showed a total of 13,320 cases of rape and sexual assault for 2024 — an increase of 9.3% compared to the previous year.

Of the 11,329 suspects identified in such crimes, 6,892 were German citizens and just over a third, 4,437, were non-German suspects.

According to the figures, the number of child suspects in violent mostly peaceful crimes increased by 11.3%, and among juveniles by 3.8%. Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) chief Holger Munch and Faeser cited psychological stress caused by the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)

...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic as the main reason for this.

WHAT DID FAESER SAY ABOUT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN?
Faeser said Germany's expected incoming conservative-led government must focus on protecting women, with more prosecutions and greater use of electronic monitoring.

"We need a stronger protection and support system for women," said the center-left Social Democrat politician. "And we finally need electronic ankle bracelets so that perpetrators can no longer approach threatened women unnoticed. Protecting women from violence must also be a central task for the next federal government."

Faeser noted that more than a third of the suspects in such cases did not have German citizenship. "This is not just about consistent prosecution but also about consistent deportations.

"To this end, we have tightened our laws. The number of deportations is 55% higher today than two years ago. This is how we enforce our law," Faeser said.

What is Germany doing to tackle the rise in violent mostly peaceful crime?

Faeser said the legal system must take "tough action" against violent mostly peaceful offenders, and highlighted Germany's introduction of a ban on knives at public events.

"The knife bans we have introduced now apply to public events, festivals, public transport, and many other places — and can be checked and enforced without cause. Knives have no place in public," she said.

Police chief Munch said the increase in violent mostly peaceful crime was part of a trend, having now reached a record high. He also addressed the rise in violent mostly peaceful crime among young people.

"The sharp increase among children and adolescents is particularly striking. Continued stress as a result of the coronavirus measures is a possible driver of delinquency, especially among this age group. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
research is needed to better understand the causes of this development and to effectively counteract it."

Ulrich Mäurer, interior minister of the city-state of Bremen who also presented the report, said "consistent law enforcement and effective preventive measures" were needed.

UPTICK IN CRIMES BY NON-GERMANS
"Nationwide networking between security, health, and, where appropriate, immigration and weapons authorities must be ensured," he said.

Measured against the proportion of the total population, the police recorded a four-times higher proportion of foreigners among suspects in violent mostly peaceful crimes; across all crimes, this proportion was almost three times higher.

Across all crimes, the proportion was 41.8% in 2024 — 0.7% points higher than in 2023 and almost twice as high as in 2010.

BKA chief Munch attributed this to the high proportion of young men among foreigners — a group that is generally more likely to commit violent mostly peaceful offenses than older people and women. In addition, experiences of violence and psychological stress in the country of origin often played a role.

"Migration management is enormously important in order to be able to control this problem at all," said Munch.

WAS THERE A REAL FALL IN OVERALL CRIME?
While wider crime figures for 2024, including non-violent mostly peaceful offenses, showed a dip, this was deemed to have been due to the partial legalization of the possession and cultivation of cannabis.

"Without this change in the law, there would have been stagnation," said police chief Munch.

On the issue of drugs, Munch pointed to the changing narcotics market with more drug-related deaths, "a flood of cocaine," and more synthetic drugs. "This development is worrying," he said.

Lawsuit accusing UC Berkeley of tolerating antisemitism can proceed, US judge rules
[IsraelTimes] Court refuses to weigh in on assertion that Zionism is core tenet of Judaism, saying doing so would be unconstitutional, but allows equal protection and civil rights claims

A US federal judge has said Jewish groups may pursue a lawsuit accusing the University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Berkeley, of tolerating an "unrelenting" stream of antisemitic harassment toward Jewish students and faculty, in a decision made public on Tuesday.

US District Judge James Donato said two Jewish groups may pursue equal protection, free exercise of religion, and civil rights claims against school officials, including University of California President Michael Drake and former UC Berkeley chancellor Carol Christ.

Donato said the plaintiffs plausibly alleged that Jewish students and professors were treated differently at UC Berkeley because they are Jewish, and that the school was "deliberately indifferent to the on-campus harassment and hostile environment."

The plaintiffs had cited myriad instances, including an Israeli professor having her invitation to teach at the school revoked; protesters calling Israeli students "Talmudic devils"; and a student with a Star of David necklace being surrounded by masked protesters, who told him, "Zionists can go back to Europe."

At the same time, the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
-based judge dismissed a contract-based claim surrounding student organizations’ bylaws prohibiting those who espouse Zionist beliefs.

He also, notably, declined to take up the plaintiff’s assertion that "Zionism is a central tenet of the Jewish faith," saying that for the court to weigh in on such a matter would raise "a serious constitutional problem," as it would involve weighing in on religious doctrine.

"It may be that the Court may properly determine whether Zionism is a sincerely held religious belief for some individuals, as circumstances might warrant, but the Court will not determine if it is a central tenet of Judaism," Donato wrote.

Lawyers for the defendants did not immediately respond on Wednesday to requests for comment.

The plaintiffs are the nonprofit Louis D. Brandeis Center and Jewish Americans for Fairness in Education, a nationwide group whose members include UC Berkeley staff and students.

Universities are Suspending Students for Justice in Palestine Chapters
[HotAir] Yesterday the University of Pittsburgh suspended the school's chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). The suspension was in response to a protest the group carried out a protest at the school library in December.

Following a study-in organized by students at Hillman Library during the last week of the fall semester, the Office of Student Conduct is requiring SJP to complete a conduct hearing. As the only registered Palestine advocacy club at Pitt, potential sanctions may throw the future of pro-Palestinian organizing on campus into question...

At the study-in, students surrounded themselves with Palestinian flags, keffiyehs and signs with messages such as “hands off Palestine” and “there are no universities left in Gaza” while studying at tables...

The Office of Student Conduct alleged that SJP “promoted and hosted an event” in a non-reservable part of the library, according to the incident description provided to SJP by the office. Posts from SJP’s Instagram at the time attribute the gathering to “autonomous student activists.” A club co-president said SJP did not organize this gathering and only made these posts to “amplify” the study-in.

This is the sort of legal fiction that groups like this often seek to create when breaking the rules: It wasn't us it was an autonomous collective of students who happen to be members in our group.

In this case it didn't work. The SJP chapter was called in for a disciplinary meeting and given an interim suspension on March 18. While that suspension was in place, the group then hosted an event marching across the campus.

A group of pro-Palestinian protesters defied an order from their university to stop holding events when they held a march across the University of Pittsburgh campus on Saturday.

Pitt placed Students for Justice in Palestine on interim suspension this past week, saying members of their group improperly communicated with members of the university conduct hearing board. As part of the suspension, they would not be allowed to hold events.

This is not the only school that has recently suspended an SJP chapter. UCLA banned its chapter of the group last week over a protest at the home of a UC Regent.

The UCLA groups were under interim suspensions since Feb. 12, when Chancellor Julio Frenk announced the restrictions in a campuswide message, citing “violence” during a Feb. 5 action at the home of UC Regent Jay Sures.

“No one should ever fear for their safety. Without the basic feeling of safety, humans cannot learn, teach, work and live — much less thrive and flourish. This is true no matter what group you are a member of — or which identities you hold. There is no place for violence in our Bruin community,” Frenk’s letter said.

At the time, the student groups replied via Instagram statements, saying they rejected “Frenk’s accusations that student protesters have committed violence against the UCLA community.”

Sures, vice chairman at United Talent Agency, said he was targeted because he is Jewish. In addition to photos that showed his property vandalized with red blood-like handprints, there was video of protesters briefly surrounding Sures’ wife in her car as she tried to drive to work.

UCLA is not the first UC campus to ban the group.

UCLA joins several other UC campuses and others throughout the country that have banned or suspended Students for Justice in Palestine, including UC Irvine, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz.

Other schools across the country have also been banning or suspending the group including the University of Michigan, Tufts, Brown, Rutgers and Swarthmore. This group is wearing out its welcome and that's good news because this group is clearly pro-Hamas and is willing to break school rules/laws in order to promote its cause.

#1  The genesis of the SJP was the Muslim Students Association, which was quite active in the 1990s. Their internet input seems to have disappeared, but would be worthy of study for any Political Science Ph.D. candidate.

Report: Rubio orders scrutiny of visa applicants’ social media for criticism of US, Israel
[IsraelTimes] US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has instructed US diplomats to scrutinize visa applicants’ social media for criticism of the US and Israel, The New York Times reports.

Rubio’s directive, issued March 25, follows an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump in January requiring the US government to ensure that foreign nationals “not bear hostile attitudes toward its citizens, culture, government, institutions, or founding principles, and do not advocate for, aid, or support designated foreign terrorists and other threats to our national security.”

Rubio told reporters last Thursday that since taking office in late January, he estimates that he has revoked at least 300 visas, many of them for students.

US sanctions entities in Iran, China, UAE, for assisting Tehran with weapons procurement
[IsraelTimes] The US imposes new sanctions on entities and individuals in Iran, the United Arab Emirates and China whom it accuses of being part of an Iranian weapons procurement network, as US President Donald Trump seeks to ramp up pressure on Tehran.

The US Treasury Department announces sanctions on six entities and two individuals in action taken in coordination with the Department of Justice, accusing them of responsibility for procurement of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components on behalf of a leading manufacturer for Iran’s drone program.

“Iran’s proliferation of UAVs and missiles – both to its terrorist proxies in the region and to Russia for its use against Ukraine – continues to threaten civilians, US personnel, and our allies and partners,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says in a statement.

“Treasury will continue to disrupt Iran’s military-industrial complex and its proliferation of UAVs, missiles and conventional weapons that often end up in the hands of destabilizing actors, including terrorist proxies.”

Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York does not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The action targets one Iranian-based entity and two people based in Iran, one entity based in China and four UAE-based entities, according to the Treasury statement.

The Treasury says it is the second round of sanctions targeting “Iranian weapons proliferators” since Trump restored his “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran, which includes efforts to drive its oil exports down to zero to help prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Trump said considering Iranian offer of indirect nuclear talks; advisers still split
[IsraelTimes] White House hasn’t ruled out Omani mediation, though it prefers direct talks; meanwhile, US building up forces to establish deterrence, option to strike Iran if diplomacy fails.

The White House is seriously considering Iran’s proposal for indirect nuclear talks, while also significantly increasing American forces in the Middle East in case US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
chooses to conduct military strikes on its nuclear sites, a report said Wednesday.

The report by the Axios news site, which cited two unnamed US officials, comes amid an exchange of public remarks and threats between the US and Iran, as well as private correspondence, regarding the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s nuclear program, with Trump offering a two-month window for talks in a letter to Iran

On Sunday, Trump threatened, "If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing," adding: "It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before."

s — and Iran itself.

The US president over the weekend received Iran’s formal response to his letter, Axios reported, citing one US official who said the White House believes direct negotiations would have a greater chance of success, but hasn’t ruled out indirect talks.

Both officials were cited as saying no final decision has been made, with one telling the outlet: "After the exchange of letters, we are now exploring next steps in order to begin conversations and trust building with the Iranians."

The administration is split between some officials who think a deal can be reached, and others who think talks would be a waste of time and are advocating strikes, the report claimed.

For now, a US official told Axios that Trump doesn’t want war with Iran, but wants military assets in the region for the sake of deterrence and to maintain the option of action if diplomacy fails and the situation escalates quickly.

During his first presidential term, Trump withdrew the US from a 2015 deal between Iran and world powers that placed strict limits on Tehran’s disputed nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. He also reimposed sweeping US sanctions, in a "maximum pressure" campaign he has renewed upon his return to office.

Iran, which is sworn to Israel’s destruction, denies seeking a nuclear weapon, but it has ramped up its enrichment of uranium up to 60 percent purity, the only country in the world without a nuclear weapons program to do so, and has obstructed international inspectors from checking its nuclear facilities.

Iran has twice in the past year fired large barrages of missiles and drones at Israel in support of its terror proxies Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
, Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen.

In response, Israel struck Iranian facilities, including missile factories and air defenses. That reduced Tehran’s conventional military capabilities, according to analysts and US officials, an assessment disputed by Tehran.

Pakistan begins forced deportation of Afghan migrants after March 31 deadline ends
[KhaamaPress] Pakistain has started deporting Afghan migrants colonists after the March 31 deadline, with no extension granted for voluntary departure.

The Pak government has begun deporting Afghans living in the country without legal documents, starting today, Tuesday, April 1st, after the deadline for voluntary departure expired.

Pak media reports that after the expiration of this deadline, the process of deporting Afghan migrants colonists has formally begun. Despite widespread concerns, international organizations and human rights

Geo News reported on Tuesday, April 1st, that officials in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province confirmed the operation to expel Afghan migrants colonists will proceed without extending the previous deadline.

From the morning of Tuesday, April 1, reports from major cities in Pakistain, including Bloody Karachi

Illegal Afghan migrants colonists, after being arrested, are transferred to temporary centers and then deported through border crossings to Afghanistan. Eyewitnesses report that police and security forces are conducting patrols in areas with large migrant populations and carrying out house-to-house inspections.

The United Nations

Iraq repatriates nearly 700 nationals from Syria’s al-Hol camp
[Rudaw] The Iraqi government recently repatriated some 700 nationals linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) from the Kurdish-held al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava), a spokesperson told Rudaw on Wednesday.

"The returned persons comprise 168 families, or 681 individuals," said Ali Abbas, the spokesperson for Iraq’s migration and displaced ministry.

The repatriation took place on Saturday, marking Iraq’s 24th batch of nationals from the notorious camp.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the Iraqi government has not yet disclosed the total number of individuals returned from al-Hol, nor the exact figure of Iraqi nationals still residing there.

Abbas estimates that around 16,000 Iraqis remain in the camp, while Saad al-Jayashi, an advisor at the Iraqi National Security Advisory, told Rudaw late last month that the number is more than 14,000.

Iraqis and Syrians make up the majority of the 40,000 ISIS-linked individuals being held at the camp, which has been branded as a breeding ground for terrorism.

Hamas officials say terror group rejects Israeli proposal for Gaza truce, hostage release
Your terms are acceptable.
[IsraelTimes] Hamas has rejected the latest Israeli proposal for the release of hostages and a truce in, two officials from the Palestinian terror movement tell AFP.

Hamas admits 72% of deaths are combat-aged men as it quietly reduces civilian death toll - report
[Jpost] Hamas quietly removed the names of thousands of Palestinians it had previously alleged were killed during the Israel-Hamas war, Salo Aizenberg, from the US-based non-profit organisation Honest Reporting told The Telegraph on Wednesday after analyzing Hamas’s March 2025 casualty update.
"I'm not dead. I got better"
Hamas has previously claimed that 70% of casualties have been women and children, a claim no longer reflected in their recently updated lists, according to the research. Approximately 72% of fatalities are aged 13-55 and are men - the demographic category aligns with Hamas combatants.

"Hamas’s new March 2025 fatality list quietly drops 3,400 fully ’identified’ deaths listed in its August and October 2024 reports — including 1,080 children. These ’deaths’ never happened. The numbers were falsified — again," Aizenberg asserted.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Trump sends another aircraft carrier to the Middle East after massing stealth bombers at island air base amid mounting fears he is ready to strike Iran
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] US president Donald Trump has moved another aircraft carrier to the Middle East after amassing stealth bombers to the nearby Chagos Islands, amid fears he may be gearing up to strike Iran.

The US is moving the USS Carl Vinson from Asia, where it normally patrols the South China Sea, to the Persian Gulf, directly south of Iran, to join its sister carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

Trump appears to be making good on a threat to attack Iran with a 'bombing the likes to which they have never seen before' should its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, refuse to destroy its nuclear programme and stop supporting proxy wars in the Middle East.

America has already moved six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to the Chagos Islands, a third of its fleet, with satellite imagery showing them resting at the Diego Garcia military base on the UK-controlled island.

These high-tech planes have the capability of carrying bunker busting bombs across Iran that could destroy its military and nuclear sites.

The B-2 Spirits will likely be supported by a fleet of six Stratotanker in-flight refuelling craft, which were seen at Diego Garcia.

These would give the Spirits the capability to fly to Iran, deliver payloads and fly back to the Chagos Islands in a roughly 5,000-mile round trip.

But Iran appears to be stepping up to the military challenge, with Khamenei adviser Ali Larijani telling local media: 'If America or Israel bomb Iran under the nuclear pretext, Iran will be compelled to move toward producing an atomic bomb.'

Last month, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran had substantially increased its production of nuclear-capable uranium, and had increased its stockpile of near-weapons grade material.

The US is also exerting financial pressureon Iran, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday meeting in Washington with 16 global banks and federal law enforcement agencies on U.S. sanctions policy on Iran including efforts to cut its oil exports.

Bessent said President Donald Trump's administration is applying economic pressure to the maximum extent possible to disrupt Iran's access to financial resources that help it fund Hamas and other militant groups throughout the Middle East and its efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon.

'This includes the billions of dollars each year that Iran generates via its oil sales, which the regime also uses to finance its dangerous agenda and support its multiple terrorist proxies and partners,' Bessent said, according to a copy of his remarks.

Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.

Trump restored his policy of maximum pressure on Iran in February that includes efforts to drive its oil exports down to zero.

In March Treasury slapped sanctions on tankers carrying Iranian oil and on a Chinese 'teapot' refinery for processing the oil. Teapots are small, independent refineries in China. China's national oil company refineries have stopped buying Iranian oil over concerns about sanctions.

Bessent mentioned the U.S. sanctioning of Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd, the small refinery, and its chief executive officer for purchasing and refining hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian crude oil, including from vessels linked to the Houthis and the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.

Bessent also warned the banks that Iran conducts its foreign exchange activities through a covert shadow banking network. 'My message to financial institutions worldwide is unequivocal: safeguard your institutions from being exploited by this malign network, so you can continue to serve your legitimate clients with integrity,' Bessent told the banks, according to the Treasury Department.

The department did not immediately respond to a request about which banks and agencies participated.

Bessent said Treasury uses tools such as Wednesday's meeting to bring together financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement, to disrupt what it calls Iran's illicit revenue streams.

In an NBC interview over the weekend, Trump also threatened so-called secondary tariffs, which affect buyers of a country's goods, on both Russia and Iran. He signed an executive order in March authorizing such tariffs on buyers of Venezuelan oil.
