[BLAZE] New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani proudly announced the creation of the Office for LGBTQIA+ Affairs and nominated a transgender-identifying male to lead it.
Mamdani said that New York City had the highest number of "queer" people of any city in the U.S.

during the announcement Friday. Attorney Taylor Brown will be the first transgender person to lead an agency or office in New York City.
"New York City is proud of its LGBTQIA+ community and will refuse to deny health care, safety, or dignity to anyone on the basis of their identity," Mamdani said in a statement. "With Taylor Brown as director of the new Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs, the city's queer community will not only be celebrated, but protected at every turn." "Until we can throw it off a tall building"
Brown said the office would protect members of the LGBTQIA+ community from "hostile actors" in his statement.

The city has a cash flow issue already. This new office will likely generate a lot of losing law cases that will result in cash settlements that the city has to pay out. Mamdani was a bad hire.

The Obama Foundation is looking for 100 unpaid volunteers to work alongside the former president's highly paid cronies at the $850 million Obama Presidential Center in Chicago when it opens in June.
Officials are pitching the no-paycheck gigs as rooted in former President Barack Obama’s legacy of civic engagement. The recruitment campaign comes after Fox News Digital reported that the organization’s CEO, former top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, was paid $740,000 in 2024.
Foundation officials told Fox News Digital the volunteers will complement about 300 full- and part-time employees at the long-delayed center, which the organization is promoting as a $3.1 billion economic catalyst for the Windy City's South Side.
The new program will have 75 to 100 volunteers, known as "ambassadors," greet and direct visitors around the campus and share information about exhibits at the 22-story museum tower, athletic center and Chicago Public Library branch, among other amenities. It is expected to expand in the future.
The foundation describes the volunteer program as a key component of its mission, saying volunteers represent its values both onsite and in the community.
It is unclear what the salary range for those paid workers will be. However, the foundation’s most recent tax filings provide insight into compensation at the organization’s senior levels.
Federal filings viewed by Fox News Digital show Jarrett made $740,000 in 2024, 2023 and 2022, while several former Obama White House officials have collected six-figure salaries as foundation executives.
Total salaries and benefits at the foundation climbed from $18.5 million in 2018 to $43.7 million in 2024 as staffing expanded to 337 employees and annual revenue reached nearly $210 million, according to the filings. The foundation’s main office is located in Chicago’s Hyde Park, where it runs leadership and community programs in the U.S. and abroad.

Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick says he has traded California for Texas, joining a growing list of billionaires abandoning the state as lefty lawmakers push for a one-off tax their wealth.
Appearing on TPBN to discuss his robotics startup Atoms, Kalanick told hosts John Coogan and Jordi Hays he relocated to Austin on December 18.
California lawmakers and activists are currently pushing a proposed 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, which could appear on the state’s November 2026 ballot. The measure would impose a one-time 5% tax on fortunes exceeding $1 billion and would apply to people who were California residents as of January 1, 2026.
Kalanick joked he felt a twinge of FOMO

when he hears about other wealthy Americans relocating to Florida.
“Why so much Florida action?! Like, come on homies,” he said.
Other billionaire tech figures to leave California for Florida include Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, PayPal and Palantir investor Peter Thiel, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg.
While California still boasts the largest billionaire population in the United States, an increasing number have relocated to places such as Reno, Austin and Miami.
Kalanick also reflected on the turmoil surrounding his departure from Uber in 2017, which came after a number of scandals, workplace culture issues and pressure from investors.
He was also dealing with the tragedy of a boating accident that killed his mother and left his father seriously injured.
“I had been torn away from an idea and a movement that I had poured my life into. I had lost my bearings as I found the world increasingly operating by the rules of perception, not reality,” he wrote on the Atoms website.
Atoms — previously known as City Storage Systems — is an industrial robotics company that automates tasks in sectors including food service, mining and transportation using physical AI robots described as “gainfully employed.”
“I bled, but I did not perish. I got back up and fought my way back into the arena, back to my calling. Back to building,” Kalanick wrote.
