Eighty-six people were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass after protesters breached the grounds of a London prison in support of an anti-Israel, pro-Paleostinian hunger striker, UK police said Sunday.
The group was "protesting in support of a Paleostine Action prisoner on a hunger strike" late Saturday and then refused to leave the prison grounds when ordered to do so, London’s Metropolitan Police said on X.
"They allegedly blocked prison staff from entering and leaving, threatened coppers, and a number managed to get inside a staff entrance area of a prison building," police said, adding "all those involved" were detained.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson described the incident as "deeply concerning."
The incident took place outside HMP Wormwood Scrubs in West London, where a man named Muhammad Umer Khalid is being held and has been on hunger strike for over two weeks, according to the campaign group Prisoners for Paleostine. Two weeks?!? Those are rookie numbers!
He is one of several people who have been on hunger strike at various points in recent months as they await trial for an alleged break-in and criminal damage on behalf of the Paleostine Action campaign group before it was banned under anti-terrorism laws.
Paleostine Action supporters are at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. They are supporting hunger striker Mohammed Umer Khalid, who is accused of conspiracy to commit criminal damage.
Khalid and the others deny those charges and have called for them to be dropped.
Paleostine Action was founded in 2020 and gained prominence with protests targeting Israeli defense companies and British firms linked to them. It stepped up its actions during the Gazoo

[BBC] At least 11 people were killed and another dozen injured when gunmen opened fire on locals who had gathered at a football pitch in the city of Salamanca in central Mexico on Sunday.
Witnesses said armed men arrived at the grounds in several vehicles and shot at those gathered there seemingly indiscriminately.
Many families had stayed behind to socialise after a match between local clubs. At least one woman and one child were among those killed.

Guanajuato has seen a spike in violence committed by a number of gangs that engage in the theft of oil and fuel, as well as other criminal activities such as drug trafficking and extortion.

Salamanca, which is home to a major Pemex refinery, has been particularly subject to violent gang-related attacks.
Analysts say that the rivalry between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Cartel de Santa Rosa de Lima (CSRL) is behind many of the most brutal incidents.
Their criminal activities are not confined to Mexico, with both the smuggling of stolen fuel and illicit drugs spreading violence into the United States.
Last year, the US State Department designated the CJNG as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation and, more recently, placed sanctions on the CSRL.
US President Donald Trump has made the fight against criminal gangs sending illicit drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamines and cocaine one of his priorities.
He has in the past alleged that "cartels are running Mexico" and has threatened to hit "narco-terrorists" with land strikes.
The US has already carried out at least 36 strikes against vessels allegedly transporting drugs by sea, both in the Caribbean and the Pacific, killing at least 125 people.
Legal experts and Trump's critics have questioned the legality of these strikes.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum last week handed over 37 "high-impact" suspects to the US in what local media described as an attempt by her government to co-operate with US counternarcotic efforts and thereby ward off the possibility of Trump ordering unilateral strikes against the cartels in Mexican territory.

The man, identified by German authorities as Mohammad S, was arrested at Berlin’s Brandenburg Airport after arriving from Beirut.
Federal prosecutors said he is suspected of having helped procure 300 rounds of ammunition in August last year, in coordination with one of three men arrested in Germany in October on suspicion of being foreign operatives for Hamas, preparing to attack Jewish or Israeli targets inside the country.
He is due to be brought before a federal judge, who will decide whether he will be held in pretrial detention.

With the way these protests are being organized, I wouldn't be surprised by foreign money as well as foreign expertise, foreign agents, being involved. Crowds of protestors appearing suddenly and rapidly in response to ICE activities indicates a high degree of organization, communication and coordination. Somehow I doubt if Tim Walz could manage that on his own.

A Paleostinian man was critically injured Sunday morning near the village of Ayoun al-Haramiya, north of Ramallah in the West Bank, according to the Paleostinian Authority’s General Authority for Civilian Affairs, after Israeli police said he accelerated toward an officer.
The Israel Police said traffic officers were alerted to a vehicle speeding down Route 60.
According to police, officers who arrived at the scene ordered the driver to stop. When one of the officers approached the car, the driver accelerated toward him, prompting the officer to fire at the vehicle, police said.
Police said the driver then attempted to flee but crashed into a nearby concrete roadblock.
The PA said the man, identified as 34-year-old Amar Hijazi of Nablus, was in "very critical" condition at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
The agency originally reported that Hijazi was killed by Israeli forces, claiming that his body had been taken by Israel. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... they later retracted that statement, saying Israel withdrew information previously conveyed to them that Hijazi had been killed.
Videos circulating online appeared to show the moments after the incident, with coppers approaching a small black vehicle that seemed to have sustained damage from a crash near a bus stop.
The incident came amid heightened tensions in the West Bank following a series of violent mostly peaceful settler attacks across the territory over the weekend, including near the area where Sunday’s incident took place.

According to Palestinian media, the strike hit the Hamas-controlled side of the Gaza ceasefire line in Tuffah this morning.
The IDF does not immediately comment on the reports. It has said such strikes are in response to ceasefire violations.

Palestinian media reported last night that 26-year-old Nur Farid Abu Sitta was shot dead on the Israeli-controlled side of the Gaza ceasefire line south of Khan Younis, in the Strip’s south. The military has not commented on the reports.
Abu Sitta’s body was reportedly brought to Khan Younis’s Nasser Hospital, where a funeral service was held for him today, according to footage published by Palestinian media.

A wave of Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure throughout Lebanon on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said, with Lebanese officials reporting at least one dead.
According to the IDF, one of the strikes targeted a group of Hezbollah operatives at a weapon manufacturing site in southern Lebanon.
The military said that it had recently detected activity by Hezbollah operatives at the building, in the southern Lebanese village of Bir el-Sanasel, next to Kherbet Selem, which it said was used by the terror group to manufacture arms.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the strike near Kherbet Selem resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another.
In a separate strike in Lebanon’s eastern Beqaa Valley,the IDF said it struck other Hezbollah military infrastructure.
Lebanese media reported that the strike hit the outskirts of the village of Nabi Chit, just south of Baalbek. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
An Nahar: Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that the strike on the south targeted a hangar, while the attacks on the east hit mountains near the town of Nabi Sheet.
“The activity of Hezbollah terrorists at these sites constitutes a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon and pose a threat to the State of Israel,” the IDF added, referring to a November 2024 ceasefire.
In another strike, the military said it targeted a Hezbollah operative in the southern Lebanon town of Bazouriye, close to Tyre.
Lebanese media said the strike near Tyre hit a car. No further details were immediately given by the IDF.
Since the ceasefire, the IDF said it has killed over 400 Hezbollah operatives and members of allied terror groups in strikes, hit hundreds of Hezbollah sites, and conducted over 1,200 raids and other small operations in southern Lebanon.
