[Jerusalem Post] According to FDLE, 31-year-old Jerry Sneed has been charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.A Florida man was arrested for allegedly threatening a newly established Jewish residential community with a firearm in posts on social media, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on Thursday. The investigation into 31-year-old Orlando resident Jerry Sneed began earlier in October when FLDE agents in Fort Myers received information regarding threatening social media posts. Sneed allegedly posted photos of the Glades County residential community and a firearm along with threatening statements.
"We were anticipating for haters, anti-Semites, or whatever they are, to show up here eventually," Perlstein exclusively told WINK News Reporter Maddie Herron. "I don't think just anybody thought it was going to happen in the first 24 to 48 hours." Jerry Sneed, 31, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly posting photos of the community, along with a firearm, on social media that included threatening messages aimed "against a Jewish community in Glades County," according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement [FDLE]. Perlstein said state and local agencies responded quickly after the threats appeared online. "He's behind bars, and hopefully that's a lesson to everyone that you don't need to wait until it escalates," Perlstein said. "They immediately acted. They caught him." He said many residents who live there know what it's like to be targeted for their faith. "A lot of people here come from certain geographical areas where antisemitism is on the rise," Perlstein said.
"These are people with jobs, tax-paying dollars," Perlstein said. "Let people live. Let everybody live it. Let everybody live in peace and don't come up with a sign, 'Semites go home.' I am home, and I'm staying home, and we love it and we welcome people to the home." The move-in period has been fast, with families arriving from across the United States and from other countries.
