| [Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A dog walker was left with significant injuries after she was attacked by a mother bear in Washington State, according to officials. The unidentified woman was walking her dog on a leash around 7.50am Sunday in Snohomish County when a black bear pushed her to the ground and clawed at her, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said. At the time, the woman had her back to the bear when it pounced on her in her heavily wooded backyard, she told authorities. She eventually made it off the ground and ran into her home, where she called police and reported the terrifying incident. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She stayed overnight for treatment, officials shared. Meanwhile, Snohomish County Deputies and WDFW officials responded to the scene and tried to locate the bear involved in the attack. As they did so, two black bears, a large adult and a younger bear, were spotted in the area, the agency said. Officers also brought out hounds to sniff for any bear scents, but the search came up empty. A trap has been set up near where the attack occurred, officials said. |
