Iranian army naval operations official Admiral Farhad Fattahi said the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer was forced to end its mission and return via the Cape of Good Hope. He also claimed Iran anticipated the attack 12 to 15 hours in advance and relocated missile and drone units to reduce damage. He said Iran did not leave an American submarine's attack on the Iranian destroyer Dena unanswered, and warned that American ships entering Iranian territorial waters would face severe damage.
