[Regnum] Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian plans to visit Russia, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced.
"Next week, dialogue and consultations will continue with the participation of the presidents of the two countries in Moscow," Araghchi wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
Pezeschkian announced on October 19 that he intends to come to Moscow and hopes to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Putin hopes to hold talks with Pezeschkian at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit.
On October 9, a trilateral meeting between Putin, Pezeshkian, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took place behind closed doors. The previously unannounced meeting took place following the Caspian Environmental Summit in Turkmenistan. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that the politicians discussed cooperation formats in various areas. In particular, they discussed cooperation in the energy sector.
