The Oregon School Shooter Story Has Just Gone to a Much Darker Place

2026-10-23

[PJ] Things have gotten even darker, if that's imaginable, in the Oregon school shooting case.

Authorities investigating the rampage in Bend, Ore., last week are exploring whether the 16-year-old mass murderer may have been motivated by connections to an online nihilistic, satanic sex cult.

The former special education student at Silver Rail Elementary School shot his way through a school-shooter deterrent door and killed three children, ages 5, 7, and 11, and a 25-year-old teacher. Another child who was confined to a wheelchair was shot in the face and remains, along with an adult, in the hospital.

That’s former special ed. student John J. Griffin, 16, child of a single mother who’d bought the 12 gauge, pump action shotgun he used for his birthday. The hero dad who stopped him is carpenter Kaylub Giamanco, 36, who has two daughters in the school; he stopped Griffin at the front door before he ran round to gain entry by shooting the lock off the back door, after which Mr. Giamanco shot him dead mere minutes later.

Right after the shooting, investigators converged on Griffin J. John II's family home, confiscating his personal items, including his electronics.

Independent reporter Andy Ngo and the Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) now report that investigators are following leads to determine if John's was associated with the notorious 764 cult.

764 is a decentralized, internationally operating online sextortion network. It emerged in 2021 from the CVLT network. 764 has been described as a Satanic and neo-Nazi cult by some in the media, but investigations suggest that its members' misanthropic worldview and sadistic tendencies are more significant drivers. So not a jihadi or a narco-ganster, but just a boy seduced to the lurid pleasures of viciousness.

Federal authorities have prioritized prosecutions of the leaders of this cult, which they describe as "an international child exploitation enterprise known as '764,' a nihilistic violent extremist (NVE) network."
