[Regnum] The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defense forces shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on October 20 by the Iranian Tasnim news agency,citing a statement from the IRGC.
The IRGC also clarified that the downed drone was the 54th since the conflict began. Each such UAV costs approximately $30 million.
Additionally, over the past 24 hours, two tankers struck mines and caught fire in the southern Strait of Hormuz. According to the corps, these vessels were operating illegally in the strait's waters.
On August 31, the IRGC also reported the downing of a US MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz. The drone was destroyed by a missile strike by crews of the Islamic Republic's Aerospace Force's modernized air defense systems. The aircraft's wreckage fell into the waters of the Persian Gulf.
