[Regnum] Two men died in a bear attack in the Irkutsk region. The press service of the regional Investigative Committee's Main Investigative Directorate reported this on Monday, October 12.
According to the agency, one of the victims, a 56-year-old man, was found near the Tareya River in the Bratsk Reservoir. He had multiple wounds consistent with a bear attack.
The remains of a second man were discovered approximately 15 kilometers from the village of Kaimonovo in the Nizhneilimsky District. Investigators later determined that they belonged to a 47-year-old resident of the village of Rechushka, who had also been attacked by a predator. He had been living in a winter hut since mid-September. One day, he went hunting and did not return, leading to his being listed as missing.
Local investigators have begun conducting pre-investigation checks.
Earlier in October, a bear attacked a 15-year-old boy in a forest in the Altai Krai region. The boy survived and was hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed him with brain swelling following the attack.
