| [North Press] Syria’s Anti-Narcotics Department on Sunday announced that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 100,000 captagon pills to Saudi Arabia through the Nassib border crossing with Jordan. The pills were concealed inside a truck’s spare tire, according to a statement published by the department on Telegram. The operation resulted in the seizure of the shipment and the arrest of a suspect, the statement said, adding that the seized items were confiscated and the suspect was referred to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings. On Saturday, the department announced the dismantling of a drug trafficking network operating in Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah governorates and along the Iraqi border. Authorities arrested the network’s alleged leader and seized large quantities of crystal methamphetamine. |
