[Regnum] A cloud of solar material ejected during one of the recent solar flares has reached Earth. A powerful magnetic storm has begun on the planet, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, reported on October 10.
The weather forecaster clarified that the geomagnetic field responded to the arrival of solar plasma with a strong magnetic storm of level G3 (the third level out of five possible).
"Due to magnetic field disturbances, auroras can be observed in various regions of our country," Leus wrote in MAX.
Previously, experts predicted that weak and moderate magnetic storms would hit Earth on October 9. Several M-level solar flares (the second-lowest possible intensity) occurred, two of which were recorded on October 6. The planet's geomagnetic field is expected to return to a calm state by October 11.
The first magnetic storm of the fall occurred on September 8th. The event was weak, classified as Category 1 on a five-point scale. The disturbances were associated with a plasma cloud ejected by the Sun.
