| Houthis claim commander of the 35th Armored Brigade, was killed at Jabal Matran |

Text: Houthis are claiming that Abdulrahman al-Shamsani, commander of the 35th Armored Brigade, was killed during the fighting at Jabal Matran. They are also claiming that they seized weapons and secured the mountain. Yemen’s government has denied both claims. The 35th Armored Brigade says al-Shamsani is alive and personally leading the fighting in the area, while government sources say clashes around Jabal Matran are still ongoing. If the Houthis are able to hold Matran and push farther into Bani Yusuf, this becomes much more significant. It would strengthen their position on the southern approaches to Taiz and increase pressure on the corridor toward Aden. This is becoming an increasingly important focus for the Houthis in their military strategy; Iranian media has also been advertising wins freely before the Houthis even set foot there, so this is an important focus for IRGC.
