Türkiye Maarif Foundation to Expand Education in Afghanistan
2026-10-06
[ToloNews] The Türkiye Maarif Foundation,
…once upon a time the Gülenists ran all the Turkish schools abroad. But then President Erdogan turned on his very dearest friend, Fethullen Gülen, arrested every Gülenist that could be found, confiscated their assets to enrich the empty national treasury, and took over the Gülen schools, which until then had provided an excellent secular education with a Turkey-oriented Islamist slant. Clearly, the schools are still teaching, still funded by the Turkish government ten years later...
during the inauguration of the Afghan-Turk School in Aino Mina, Kandahar, announced that it plans to further expand its educational services in Afghanistan.

Ahmet Tokur, head of the foundation, said that a large number of people in Afghanistan are satisfied with the services provided by the Turkiye Maarif Foundation.

Ahmet Tokur added: "Under an agreement signed in 2018, the Afghan-Turk Maarif Foundation is expected to launch its educational services in all 34 provinces, and we will do so after assessing the needs, demands, and opportunities."

Mohammad Noman, a student at the Afghan-Turk School in Kandahar, said: "I want to become a cardiologist in the future, and that is why I have started my education here."

Nazir Ahmad, another student at the school, said: "My goal is to become a capable doctor in the future so that I can serve my fellow citizens, and God willing, I will achieve this goal."

Kandahar residents are calling on the Ottoman Turkish government to also launch higher education services in southern Afghanistan.

Sediq Mohmand, a tribal elder in Kandahar, said: "I ask the head of the Afghan-Turk Foundation in Afghanistan to establish a university in Aino Mina, Kandahar, or another part of Kandahar city, based on the promise made to us. This would be an unforgettable contribution to the people of Afghanistan."

The Turkiye Maarif Foundation provides educational services in 64 countries around the world and has announced that it will open a new school in Khost and a university-level faculty in Kabul in 2027.
