[Regnum] Iranian authorities may reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States meets certain conditions, including easing military pressure and lifting the blockade of Iranian ports. A senior Iranian official told Reuters on September 22.
According to the source, Tehran has already conveyed its demands to Washington. However, no clear response has been forthcoming. The Iranian side is particularly eager for the US to lift the port blockade, which continues to be enforced.
"The US must declare that it wants to resolve the issue diplomatically, do so officially, and then agree on a timeline for moving the process forward," the official explained to the publication.
The interlocutor recalled that the Iranian delegation is in New York for the UN General Assembly and has every authority to resume diplomatic relations with the other side of the conflict.
Iranian authorities conveyed to the United States, through a Qatari mediator , the conditions for ending the military conflict, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei announced on September 19.
