Text: 🚨 UN SECURITY COUNCIL CONVENES AS HOUTHIS THREATEN GLOBAL SHIPPING The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting as Iran-backed Houthis advance around the strategic Bab el-Mandeb and intensify attacks on Saudi Arabia. U.S. envoy Jennifer Locetta urged the council to be “clear-eyed” about Iran’s role in arming, funding and directing the Houthis. “Freedom of navigation underpins the global economy, and the United States is working with our partners to protect it,” she said. Bahrain warned: “It is high time for the Security Council to take a more decisive stance.” |
