[Regnum] A cool and rainy summer is predicted for 2027 in Russia due to the influence of the El Niño climate phenomenon. This was reported on September 14 by Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center.
The meteorologist added that the upcoming summer season is expected to be less favorable than the past one. According to the expert, climate statistics indicate a high probability of a lack of prolonged warmth and sunny days.
"If an El Niño record is reached, then, statistically, 81% of summers will be cool and 73% will be rainy," Tishkovets noted in an interview with RIA Novosti.
El Niño was previously reported as a climate phenomenon characterized by warming waters in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. Climate scientist Vladimir Klimenko told Regnum news agency that in 2026, as a result of this process, surface water temperature anomalies will approach 200-year highs. The expert noted that the peak of the process has not yet occurred, as it typically occurs between October and February.
