[Regnum] The United States of America has orbital weapons for space surveillance, US Air Force Secretary Troy Meinck announced.
"The United States currently has space control capabilities in orbit that can protect the Joint Force from hostile adversaries," Meinck said at the Air Force and Space Force Association conference.
The moderator asked for more details about orbital weapons, but Meinck declined to elaborate. He noted that the United States intends to maintain superiority not only in the air but also in space.
According to the minister, other countries are developing capabilities that could deprive the United States of some of its space capabilities or put them at risk. Therefore, Washington is taking measures to preserve its space potential.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the US and its allies' space policies are becoming increasingly aggressive. The diplomat added that Washington is preparing steps to deploy weapons systems in space and build up its military capabilities there. All of this, Zakharova noted, is being done under the guise of an imaginary Russian threat.
