[Regnum] Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, part of the Rostec state corporation) delivered the latest batches of T-90M Proryv and T-72B3M tanks to the Russian military. The concern's press service reported this on September 12.
The delivery is timed to coincide with Tanker's Day. The combat vehicles are equipped with improved all-round protection.
A combat vehicle test driver explained that all tanks undergo testing. Each vehicle must travel at least 100 km before being sent to the troops. Armament is also tested: machine guns, cannon, systems, and navigation equipment.
"A soldier fights comfortably in a modern T-90M. Our designers strive to protect the vehicle as much as possible. We've also added many systems that assist with control and advise on how to handle any emergency," the test pilot added.
Andrey Terlikov, the head of the T-90M project and the company's chief designer, said the T-90M "Proryv" tank received high praise from Russian military personnel in the special operation zone. He recalled that the "Proryv" prototype, the T-90, was developed in the 1990s.
Rostec previously stated that Russian armored vehicles are constantly being updated based on practical experience. Specifically, the T-90M Proryv, T-80BVM, and T-72B3M tanks are being modernized.
The T-90M tank is a major upgrade of the T-90 main battle tank. Development of the T-90M began in the early 2010s. The developers first unveiled the T-90M at the Army-2018 International Military-Technical Forum. The first vehicles were delivered to the Russian Army in the spring of 2020, and serial production began in early 2021. The T-90 is a deeply modernized version of the T-72B tank, considered one of the best in the world in the West.
In early May, the American military magazine Miltary Watch Magazine reported that Russia is ahead of Western countries in the field of tank counter-drone systems. For example, the anti-drone capabilities of the T-90M and T-72B3M tanks have been significantly improved by the integration of the Arena-M active protection system.
