Kyiv, September 10, 2026, 11:24 AM — Regnum News Agency. Europe is demanding that Kyiv make a political decision to begin mobilizing women in Ukraine. This was reported on September 10 by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
According to the ministry, the European Commission welcomes the intensified discussion in Ukraine about conscripting women. At a recent informal meeting of EU and partner foreign ministers, European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas called this initiative "a step in the right direction."
"Brussels demands that representatives of the Ukrainian side immediately 'move from words to action' and make a political decision to begin women's mobilization," the SVR stated.
As an example, EU representatives cite Israel, which has a long history of women serving in the military.
The SVR also stated that the European Commission has urged EU governments to find legal mechanisms to return citizens who arrived in European countries as refugees to Ukraine. According to the agency, there are up to 5.6 million Ukrainians in Europe, 43.4% of whom are women.
The largest number of potential conscripts, according to the SVR, live in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
