| [NYP] At least eight people were wounded in shootings and stabbings around the route of the notoriously violent West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday — including a costumed woman who took a bullet to her leg, police and law-enforcement sources said. The injured 37-year-old woman — dressed in an orange-and-gold feathered outfit — was one of three people shot during the mayhem. "It’s no fun anymore. They won’t stop the shooting,’’ a dismayed bystander said of the criminals causing the annual violence. Obviously, White Supremacists? Another three men were stabbed and two slashed during the parade’s early-morning J’ouvert pre-festivities. Bullets flew about 4 p.m. around 800 Nostrand Ave. in Crown Heights near the route, when a 24-year-old man was shot in the butt, according to sources. "There were a bunch of people fighting at the top of the block. ... And then all of the sudden, you hear, ’Pop, pop,’" said a witness named Edward. The injured man was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, according to sources. |
