| [LibyaReview] A Russian-flagged cargo ship was reportedly attacked by drones in the Mediterranean, with a Russian opposition journalist claiming that the aircraft were launched from Libyan territory. The vessel, identified as the Lady Mariia, reportedly came under attack on Sunday while sailing towards Syria. Footage circulated online appears to show several drones striking the ship, followed by a fire on board. Russian opposition journalist Alexander Nevzorov, who published footage of the incident, claimed that the vessel suffered 12 direct hits. He also alleged that the ship was carrying Iranian weapons
However, the claims have not been independently verified. Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed involvement in the attack, while the alleged launch site in Libya and the contents of the ship’s cargo also remain unconfirmed. Ship-tracking data cited in reports showed that the vessel, IMO 9220641, had departed the Algerian port of Oran before entering the Mediterranean. Earlier tracking placed it near Crete, while later information put it closer to Sicily. More at the link | |
