Dr Naomi Wolf and Dr Peter Breggin hash out what mental illness is...and isn't...

[Ginger Breggin] [Dr. Peter Breggin’s Note: Dr. Naomi Wolf has written an amazing column on Judaism in her Substack, that helped fine tune my appreciation of God’s desire not only to love us, but also of God’s need to be loved.

In her column, Naomi commented on our interview, below, that we had just completed with her for the Breggin Hour. Naomi described our confrontation during the interview as "a very fierce, if mutually respectful debate, and praised me with words too kind for me to quote, which quickly mended my apprehensions about what had transpired. She called my healing from my stroke a ’Refu’ah shlemah’ meaning a ’complete healing.’

We did not have any preconceived agenda for our long-anticipated interview with Dr. Naomi Wolf. Ginger was nervous/excited, as she often gets before we begin a show. But as our interview this week progressed, it became clear that Naomi had burning questions and even challenges concerning my views on biological psychiatry, including my rejection of psychiatric drugs as too dangerous and ineffective and my criticism of psychiatric diagnoses as having no biological basis and as pigeonholing people in ways that are not good for them.

We really appreciate Naomi’s gifted writing and her courage in organizing and examining the life- and health-threatening effects of the COVID vaccines, and in particular we appreciate her amazing contribution in organizing and publishing the Pfizer Documents (2023) confirming that the FDA and Pfizer knew and hid the same information that Dr. Anthony Fauci similarly hid from the public. We asked Naomi if she could make some additional connections from the Pfizer papers to the Fauci "diary" and the subsequent Congressional hearings, and she did, emphasizing the area of the harm done by the COVID vaccines to women’s reproductive systems found in the Pfizer Documents and covered up by Fauci.

Then, to our surprise, Naomi introduced an excruciating story about a "bipolar" relative, which she said was fictional. Her story included very strong criticism of my views that psychiatric drugs do more harm than good. And that so-called psychiatric "diseases" like bipolar disorder are not genetic or biological in origin, a view I later modified to include hormonal changes and other stresses that occur around childbirth as causes of serious emotional problems. All three of us worked hard to treat each other with love and respect, despite the underlying tension and variance in worldviews.

The result was an enlightening critique by Naomi and a somewhat less incisive response from me as I tried to gather my wits and to avoid sounding critical of this amazing, wonderful woman. She, in turn, thanked us for our "free speech platform."

For anyone interested in hearing me defend my views when being seriously challenged, this is a don’t-miss hour.
