[Regnum] Multiple plasma ejections into space have been detected on the Sun. This was reported on September 4 by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
They clarified that the increase in solar activity was discovered from images received by scientists from space telescopes and coronagraphs.
"The main sign is multiple plasma ejections on the left (eastern) edge of the star. There's no information about what's happening there. The only spacecraft that periodically visits the far side and could provide such images, the European Solar Orbiter, coincidentally is currently on the side of the orbit closest to Earth and sees the same thing as near-Earth telescopes," they reported on the Telegram channel.
From this position, solar matter is not yet capable of reaching Earth. To pose a risk to the planet, activity must continue for another four to five days. During this period, latent active zones associated with explosions will appear on the visible side of the Sun and approach the line of sight to Earth. In the next one to two days, a preliminary assessment of the situation will be possible. After this, the size of sunspots and the amount of energy that could be released during ejections can be estimated, the laboratory explained.
Previously, scientists reported that solar and geomagnetic activity on the Sun are at a very low level.
On August 18, Sergei Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, reported the onset of a period of geomagnetic instability due to the impact of a coronal hole on Earth. At the time, scientists expected only weak magnetic storms, as no strong solar flares were observed.

Scientists typically get one to three days of warning once they see the sun eject a large amount of energy, but they still cannot reliably predict how strong it will be or whether it will hit Earth head-on.
The team examined what happened to GPS and similar satellite navigation signals during a powerful solar storm in November 2025.
The errors lasted for hours during the most intense part of the storm on November 12, lining up with peaks in auroras seen across the US.
