[BB] Haitian migrants are self-deporting to Canada after President Donald Trump’s administration ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti, with approval from the Supreme Court, CNN reports.
In June, the Supreme Court gave the Trump administration the green light to end TPS for Haitian migrants living in the United States, a status that was awarded to them following an earthquake that hit the Caribbean country more than 15 years ago.
Now, reports indicate that Haitians are self-deporting from the U.S. so that they do not end up deported to their native country. Canada, CNN reports, is among the top destinations for Haitians looking to relocate outside the U.S. |
