| [KhaamaPress] An Afghan asylum seeker has been sentenced to nine years and six months in prison after being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl in Nottingham after posing as a teenage boy on Snapchat, according to British court reports. Abdul Khan, 28, was convicted at Nottingham Crown Court of two counts of rape, sexual communication with a child, meeting a child following grooming and perverting the course of justice. The court heard that Khan presented himself as a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat before arranging to meet the girl in a wooded area in Clifton, Nottingham, in May 2025. DNA evidence recovered during the investigation linked him to the assault. Khan had previously been convicted over sexual contact involving another child and had served a prison sentence, according to court reports. Nottinghamshire Police described Khan as a dangerous offender and said his conduct demonstrated a serious risk to children and young people. The court ordered Khan to remain on the sex-offender register for life. He is also subject to automatic deportation from the United Kingdom following his prison sentence, subject to the applicable legal process.
