The Chinese communist regime’s official data releases are not considered reliable, given its record of underreporting data deemed unfavorable by authorities, including COVID-19 cases and the outbreak scale since 2020, but they can reveal certain trends.A doctor from Shandong Province in eastern China posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo on July 31: "The hospital emergency room is packed—there’s no room left on the floor for patients to lie down. Many of the patients are in serious condition."
The doctor posed the question whether the situation is due to a surge in COVID-19 or other respiratory diseases.
A COVID-19 patient in Zhejiang Province told The Epoch Times on Aug. 4 that when he visited the emergency room at the Zhejiang University School of Medicine on July 26, it was overcrowded with COVID-19 patients and it took hours to see a doctor.
"There were just so many people. The waiting completely drained my energy," he said.
He said the doctor advised him: "There are many people testing positive for COVID-19 lately, so it’s best to limit going out. If you were to contract a co-infection with Influenza A or B, the consequences could be severe."
The report also warned that the nationwide travel peak in August may exacerbate the COVID-19 epidemic.
