[Regnum] A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck off the Japanese island of Kyushu, where powerful tremors were recorded the day before. This was reported on the Japan Meteorological Agency's website on July 29.
The tremors were registered at 10:19 PM local time (4:19 PM Moscow time). The epicenter was located in the Amakusa and Ashikita areas of Kumamoto Prefecture, and the source was located at a very shallow depth.
There were no reports of casualties or damage, and no tsunami threat was issued.
Yesterday, a devastating magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck the island of Kyushu. The maximum intensity on Japan's Shindo scale reached 7.0, the highest level. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued for the coasts of Ariake and Yatsushiro Bays.
The natural disaster killed at least 13 people and injured more than 50. Residential buildings were destroyed, fires broke out, and people were trapped under rubble in several buildings.
