| Serbia to launch Chinese-backed humanoid robot production in August |

| [BNE] Serbia will begin producing Chinese-backed humanoid robots next month, President Aleksandar Vucic said on July 13, as Belgrade seeks to position itself as a regional hub for advanced technology, Beta reported. Vucic said that production at a plant in the western town of Å abac would start by the end of August after an agreement with the investor had been finalised. "I invite you to Å abac on August 22 or 29. Finally, everything has been agreed with the investor," Beta news agency quoted Vucic as saying during a visit to western Serbia. The project is being developed through a partnership between Chinese robotics company Agibot and Chinese auto parts supplier Minth Group, which already operates manufacturing facilities in Serbia. The first phase includes assembly of humanoid robots and localisation of artificial intelligence data training, with production centred in Å abac and nearby Loznica. Serbian officials have previously said the facilities would also manufacture battery housings and develop software applications before exporting products to European markets. Belgrade has increasingly promoted the project as part of its ambitions to expand high-tech manufacturing and attract Chinese investment. |
