[Regnum] A hurricane with strong winds and heavy rains caused power outages and disruptions to life support systems in 15 cities and districts of the Rostov Region. This was reported by regional Governor Yuri Slyusar on July 25.
"Power supply problems, according to emergency services, have now been recorded in at least 15 cities and districts: Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Bataysk, Taganrog, Shakhty, Novocherkassk, Novoshakhtinsk, Azovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Matveyevo-Kurgansky, Neklinovsky, Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky, Tarasovsky, Ust-Donetsky, and Myasnikovsky districts," Slyusar clarified on his Telegram channel.
The governor noted that power outages disrupted water supply equipment. Water supply problems arose in Rostov-on-Don, Gukovo, Zverevo, Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk, Novocherkassk, Azov, and the Azovsky, Krasnosulinsky, and Kamensky districts.
Slyusar emphasized that emergency services are actively carrying out restoration work despite the extremely adverse weather conditions in the region. The governor strongly recommended that citizens stay home and not go outside unless absolutely necessary.
Earlier, the hurricane damaged 152 roofs in the villages of Krasnoshchyokovo and Maralikha in the Krasnoshchyokovsky District of the Altai Krai. Efforts are underway in the Krasnoshchyokovsky District, where wind gusts reached over 40 meters per second on July 22. Municipal task forces have identified damage to 152 roofs of various buildings in Krasnoshchyokovo and Maralikha, and a state of emergency is in effect in these villages.
In late June, severe weather affected many regions in Russia's Northwestern, Central, and Ural Federal Districts. In the Sverdlovsk Region, a powerful tornado knocked out power to over 4,000 homes. Winds damaged 40 roofs, knocked down 25 trees, and knocked down nine power line poles. In early July, a hurricane in the Moscow Region almost completely destroyed an animal shelter. Also in the Moscow Region, strong winds tore off roofs and siding from houses, damaged fences, and toppled trees.
